Chapter 10: Onwards and upwards

We all gathered in the quadrangle. It was difficult to fit us all in the quad. but the instances worked to make it possible. From the stage, which is not sharded and is only one and not multiple similar spaces stacked on top of one another, announcements were first delivered. First, they explained what exactly is happening.

Apparently, the universe is much bigger than we realized. The earth as it is now is being cultivated like a plant. The inhabitants are being nurtured to a sufficient level before they can start allowing us to be with the rest of the universe. Humans are not exactly open to outside influences as history has proved. The mana of the universe is now entering the earth. That explains why people are getting powers through their desires and beliefs. That said power would serve as their protection. As for the monsters, they are from the multiple realms of Earth. The mana of the universe influenced these realms to get in contact with the human realm. The reason why they look like the fictional creatures known to us is that sometimes, we experience astral projections when we dream. We see these creatures while astral projecting, and later, people will think of them as fictional creatures. A popular example of this would be Santa Claus. He doesn't really give gifts to the human realm, but he would give gifts to the young creatures of his realm.

For the next 20-30 years, before the earth completely opens and the powers that are cultivating us will come in. For now though we all need to prepare for the coming of the creatures from other realms of Earth. I was engrossed in what I was hearing then suddenly, someone asked from the audience, "Why do you know about all this?" The representative doing the announcement answered that it is because some organizations from the outside could tap into random people’s wavelengths. These random people would serve as “prophets" like in ancient times. The soul imprints or soul signals of the prophets and the creatures from the different realms are nearly identical. One could think of them like doppelgängers in the strictest sense. The prophets learned knowledge about the different worlds out there and started preparing for when Earth fully opens up.

Maria Montessori is the person responsible for the establishment of the Montessori system of our school. She started her organization as a school to gather people even if they might not exactly have the highest loyalty to the organization. What mattered to her is that they would have the most diverse specializations. The first thing that they carried out after the announcement is the awakening ceremony for those of us who haven’t yet awakened. We can choose to awaken forcefully with someone else’s generic cognition of power or become lowly servants of the Montessori to earn enough money to pay for equipment that could protect us to live. I chose to become a lowly servant since awakening naturally for me seems to be so close anyway.

While waiting for those who chose to awaken, I had time to think about the way of the Montessori system before everything changed. Our mantra was, "No students left behind." No one is ever too weak, and everyone has their potential. The thought "What is the role of the teachers in the school, anyway?" crossed my mind. "Is it to impart knowledge like a robot? Is it to share experiences so that students grow up with hindsight?" No, I thought to myself that the duty of the teacher is to unlock his student’s potential. As my adviser once told me, “You have failed as a teacher if your student has failed.”

I remembered the story of the humble world’s teacher that taught the master awakener, poison master, Progeny of Combat, The Last Soul Oracle and owner of the Emperor’s Bloodline. While pondering those thoughts, I wished I could awaken the humble world's teacher that followed the Heavenly Path. As soon as that thought crossed my mind, I heard the voice in my head say, “Granted!” Out of the blue, the earth rumbled, and the blue sky turned darker. Then I heard the representative say “World Awakening? Who?” 

After he said those words, a giant transparent blue dragon was bearing down on us from above. The representative paled in fright and summoned a giant robot to protect us from the dragon. While this was happening, I took Max by my hand and touched his head to unlock his ancestral memories. From being pure purple, he turned into the color of all four elements in equal parts. I saw the robot break down and the representative laying down on the ground with foam on his mouth. Afterward, Max told me that he could go and try to absorb the dragon.  He faced the dragon and sucked out its energy the same way he did to the Thunderbird. After a while, the dragon turned small like the size of a human. Max became so bloated causing him to feel like he was going to explode from fullness. Later, the transparent dragon turned into a man in his 60's, looking like that of a Middle-Earth Wizard. The man tried to touch Max who couldn’t move. I tried to go between them and get Max. My new awakened ability peered into all his flaws and saw a way to deflect his hand, but it was too late. The man's other hand had shot a ray and it pierced through me. It feels hot and I thought to myself… “Am I going to die now? But I still have promises to keep. I have to find a way to live." At first I felt really hot but then It suddenly felt cold which made me feel drowsy. I tried my best to keep myself awake. I then saw Max’s eyes turning red and he turned into a red phoenix. He blasted a full beam at the man that pierced through him. Suddenly, Max turned into ash and the transparent Man turned to ash as well. Now that the man is defeated, I think we can finally have time to rest.

Hi! Thank you for reading my first 10 chapters of whatever it is I wrote. I feel like while this might not be the best thing in the world to read, it should be pass-able. At least I enjoyed writing this. I’ve always felt I wanted to tell a story, but no other means seems available to me until I read web novels.  I copied their style of writing in which they wrote one chapter a day. I might not be the best English speaker but I think it should be understandable. I would be uploading this to novel sites wherever possible, I don’t want anything else other than for you to share this work and give your opinion.  Hopefully you will like this 😊
