02. Louis Daniel Fernandesh

DANIEL closed his eyes. "Maybe, I overdid it a little."

He opened the door to his apartment unit. The strange smell then made him frown. He glanced at the door and found the hinges had shifted from their place of origin.

His eyes were wary. Daniel glanced around the room and the figure of a man with slanted eyes in his proud uniform appeared in his blue eyes. Daniel let out a harsh sigh, his eyes closed.

"You're overreacting, Shin."

"Hm."

Shinji Akira, one of the police officers in Akita. Thirty year old man who was famous for his great achievements in problem solving. His brain is cunning, tends to be manipulative and he unhesitatingly does the dirty work if necessary, making him one of the scariest figures out there.

"I'm here to get all the information you have, Prince."

Daniel snorted, his feet stepped past Shinji and he rushed into his room.

"What's more, how come a noble like you can be in a place like this? If you want, you can live in my mansion."

Daniel stopped, his head turned. "Is there any connection between my place and the case that terrorized Japan in the past two weeks?"

Shinji chuckled. "Rieki will be here soon, get ready, I need all the information from you."

Daniel snorted. "Before that, I have one question for you."

"Hm?"

"Do you believe that vampires exist in this world?"

Sounds like a joke, but those immortals do exist in this world. It was this creature that terrorized Japan for the past two weeks.

Killing the crowd by stabbing their hearts and then biting the necks of the victims to quench their thirst. Nobody knows how many vampires there are terrorizing Japan, because the locations are always changing every night and not just one place.

However, Daniel knew one thing.

The only vampire who masterminded all this was his own cousin.

Because only they — clans of highest authority or nobility — could turn humans into lower class vampires. Vampires who only followed their lust to drink blood and kill humans.

And clearly, it was highly unlikely that his cousin would ever commit such a lowly act. Not to mention that the location where the crime scenes spread across Japan couldn't be carried out by one person. Even though he had the ability to move places like fog, that was definitely impossible.

Daniel let out a harsh sigh.

He came to Japan solely because he wanted to travel. Life being immortal in a broken world is very boring. He moved from place to place to get rid of boredom, before returning to London and living in an annoying basement.

"How, has your friend already—"

Daniel closed his mouth when he saw Alin there. She was talking to Shinji and a cute girl with long black hair. Next to them, there is a man in a casual suit wearing a black hat.

"Wow, so you really are Yuki Akira, the famous young detective?"

Excessive tone of voice. Alin does have this trait, but that's what makes Daniel comfortable there. The woman didn't feel how dangerous a man like him was. Even after Daniel harassed her, entered her territory, Alin wasn't angry, nor did she keep a distance from him.

The cute girl next to Shinji smiled. Yuki Akira, her age is still young, but her brain is above average. Her name is famous after solving many cases by helping Shinji. Even though Daniel knows, Shinji doesn't need any help from that one runny girl.

"Yes, I am here to listen to the explanation of Mr. Daniel's words."

Daniel snorted, his eyes glancing at the man in the hat who was holding a pen.

He must be Rieki, but why was Yuki here?

Daniel looked at Shinji sharply, without saying much, Shinji understood the meaning of the gesture.

"What if you two get out of here?" he shooed away in an undeniably stern tone.

"Eh, I don't want to! I'm here, because I will solve this terror!"

Alin nodded too. "And me too!" she added. "As a victim being turned into livestock, eh, no. The point is, I want to know what the real problem in this country is to keep me from going home!"

Daniel snorted. "You two come out."

Alin stood up, she approached Daniel and pointed at his handsome face with her index finger. "You must know something, right? Lowly cop? Come on, hurry up and say it! If you didn't know anything, they shouldn't have chased you this way, right?"

Daniel looked at Alin without expression. It's not that he doesn't want to give her information, it's just that Daniel isn't ready if Alin gets scared of him.

He didn't want to lose a friend like this woman in front of him.

While Shinji seemed to frown, so did the two people next to him. "Lowly cop?" they repeated in unison.

Shinji let out a harsh sigh. "Yuki, take her out."

"But, Onii-chan, I—"

"Listen to me if you want to keep up with the case." Shinji glared at Yuki, this was all he could do for now. After the two women left, he could be sure, he would pester Daniel with a thousand questions.

Yuki sighed. She put on her best smile as she stood up, her feet stepped closer to Alin.

"Onee-chan, let's go out and let these old people sort things out." Yuki smiled happily.

"But, I want to help solve the problem too!"

"I promise, I will grant all your wishes, if Onee-chan wants to get out of here. We'll only be annoying if we stay here." Yuki smiled faintly. "Onee-chan wants this problem to be resolved quickly, right? So, cooperate with us!"

With a heavy heart, Alin followed Yuki out of there.

Shinji immediately glared at Daniel. "Lowly cop?"

"I'll tell you later. So, Rieki, you will record everything, right?" Daniel then frowned when he saw the young man in the black hat as if he was losing half his life.

"I am … old?" he asked, in a tone of exaggerated shock.

Shinji sighed and hit Rieki's head quite hard. "Realize what you are here for!" Shinji looked back at Daniel. "So, what do you know, one of the Nobles from London who got lost in Japan and pretended to be a lowly cop?"

Daniel closed his eyes, the smile on his lips had no meaning. Then, his eyes opened, revealing a blood red color that shocked the two men in front of him.

"Vampires do exist and I am one of them."
