21: Busy Streets

It had already been a week since they had come to what should she call it? Their house or his house? Whatever it was, she preferred to refer to it as his house. That made it nine days since she had left Abuja and ten days since she left Adamawa. It had been one hell of a ride, it had just been ten days since she had her life crushed down, her tears drained and she emotionally locked up. Mama was still not answering her phone call and she got tired of calling Fareeda to ask her to take the phone to her. She realized she was only making Mama angrier than she was by constant calling her, she finally decided to give her time, just like Farha suggested earlier.

She was walking fast in her room, if not because of Farha that had called her, she wouldn't have woke up on time. And that way, she would have tempered with their agreed time with Jibril, which will be so careless of her. She didn’t know what she was going to do anymore, her head had been so choked up that she didn’t think she could be able to make it. For the last two weeks, Yazeed didn't spare her a glance nor did he speak to her even, and no matter how much she’d try, he wouldn't act as if she was there. She could still remember how happy she was when Yazeed called her and told her that he would be there to take her home, he had already told David not to bother picking her up. She was anxious, maybe she could even touch her heart if she let hand stay longer than a minute on her chest. She wasn't hell-bent on winning, it wasn't a loss if she didn’t win, but at the same time, she wanted to win. Angst had been eating up on her soul since they started practising with Yazeed. He always played the piano for her even though she had gotten her phone back, and she could say it was enough to encourage her. But it did little to no good for her heart.
