Ammi hadn't spoken to her about anything yet, when she was brought back to her Uncle yesterday from the police station, she only asked her to go to the bathroom and wash herself up. She asked her to have sit baths numerously and she gave her some concoctions, but not a word came out of her lips. He had already spent a day in the police station, and if she wasn't mistake tomorrow would be the day Badra would come to Adamawa.She wanted to ask Ammi how the case was going, what was happening? Were they really taking him to the court or he was going to pay some charges? She wanted nothing. She just want him to be free, back to his life so she could forget about him. He stared at her face and cradled her more into his chest. He couldn’t pinpoint what he was feeling in his heart. It was something he had never experienced, something beyond his thinking. He stood up with her in his hands and he went into the room that was in the living room, she loved the room, that was something he noticed. And he didn’t dropped her until he laid her carefully on the bed and he lifted the blanket on her body. Adjusting the temperature of the air conditioner, he stared at her face and wished he was brave enough to lift her hijab up. But he knew he couldn’t. Badra took her hijab off and she smiled before she looked up at Maheer that acted as if he wasn’t looking at them. It was already time for Asr, and he had just came back from the mosque and met them chatting in the living room. “It’s time for cooking, Fadwa. We can’t cook while you have this hijab on, okay?” Fadwa smiled and nodded her head at her before she spoke, “Ya Maheer won’t look at you wrongly, we promise.”She stared at Maheer’s eyes for confirmation and he nodded his head, “Yes, we promise.” Fadwa stood up and she took Badra’s hand in hers.

She felt as though there was fire burning, only that the smoke wasn’t there. But something was surely burning, and it pained as though she got her whole body got burnt. But when she squirmed on her bed, she felt there was no fire, and her senses got back into her soul. Then she realized, the fire burning was from her abdomen, she was having her monthly cramps. Holy god!And then she remembered, she had slept in Badra’s room today, the room she had loved more than any other room in the house. She opened her eyes and directly rested them on the wall clock, and it still wasn’t up to 3am now.
