Mel “I think she is going to have early contractions when you are going to come?” Mum asked as I looked at my schedule. My gaze shifted to Nats as she placed the new file on the desk, mouthing emergency. “Mum, that won’t happen. I will be there before the due date and I have a flight tonight.” I put the schedule down take the patients file, I looked at the reports and blood pressure levels of the patient. “I just feel like her water is going break before the due date.” Mum sounded worried. “Mum, even if it happens, I will be landing tomorrow. Don’t worry I will be there, now bye I need to go.” I ended the call. Nats is waiting for me as I wore my scrubs. I rushed towards the operation theatre as the patient is brought. Mel "But Mr Portman, try to understand my situation. I stayed back when you asked me and this is not fair." I said controlling my anger. "Docter, I know but sorry to say this. We can't allow you to take leave when we are having such an important meeting in two days. Try to understand the situation of this hospital. We are having important operations and the management cannot trust interns yet." I massaged my knuckles as I feel the frustration building up, I just wanted to have a holiday after all these years and all I get is a rejection of my leave. I know Mr Portman is making stories. "I need to stay back no matter what?" "Docter it's only for a week. Once the meeting is done we will be working on hiring new obstetricians. Till then please cooperate." I know it's a waste of time to argue with him. I wonder why this bloody meeting is so important.

Mel POVI leaned into my comfy seat as I closed my eyes to get some sleep. Finally, I’m going home to meet my niece and family. I bought some gifts for my family and many gifts for my niece.
