While Ryne was focused on looking for and asking the spirits in the area, the other two, Nini and Prauza, went on their separate tasks. Nini, along with Fonmi, went to where the stray group is. Or was supposed to be. 

At around the same time when Ryne and company were beginning to investigate the park area, Caitlyn noticed that Mallory had fallen asleep at work again because of his lack of rest the night before. “Oh no, Mr. Miller’s asleep again…” said Caitlyn to herself. “And I just reminded him recently…” 

Thankfully, the directions that Ella gave were quite clear, so Ryne and the others didn’t lose any time in getting to her house. As they approached it, however, the cat-human paused for a moment. “Maybe you should stay behind here for now?” he told them, with some uncertainty in his voice. 

“Do you have anything in mind?” asked Ryne. He could tell her about his plan with the cats of the city, but then he would have to explain many more things to her than he would like. Besides, there’s a possibility that she has an idea that they may not have thought of. “Hmmmm,” said Ella. “I can’t think of anything… I’ve already gone to the police station, and they’re not much help.”

Mallory made his way to the office proper, passing by people who were all busy doing their jobs. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, he was impressed with how well it was run, as if it were some private company. Then again, that wasn’t surprising, considering the background of their current leader. Still, that did not deter him from freely expressing his dislike of the place, as well as the head of that said place.
