MasukMonica woke up with a new feeling. She was getting married today, but beyond that she was no longer a virgin. Instead of feeling shameful, she was excited. The wedding was being held at the gazebo that was built so long ago. While she was in front of her looking glass, Kiera walked in.
“I would take those off before the maid comes in.”
“What?”
“Your sheets.”
“Oh.”
“Servants gossip like crazy.”
“Thanks.”
“How was it?”
“Incredible. I’m sure you felt the same.”
“I’m sure I will.”
“Will?”
“Garret and I have never done anything.”
“You’re a virgin?”
“Olivia was surprised to.”
“I’m shocked. Its just with how close you two are.”
“I know. But I’m not ready and respects that.”
“That’s good.”
“Are you ready for today?”
“I’m excited.”
“The boys have gone back to get ready.”
She and Kiera worked on getting the sheets off and pile them in the corner. She and Kiera smoothed out the dress and Olivia came in with shoes. Two maids came in started to help her get ready.
The boys were at the gazebo and Garret was talking with James about last night. James couldn’t stop grinning.
“It’s a weird feeling, but I now get how you and Kiera feel.”
“You feel like you’ll never be unhappy again and that if something were to happen to prevent you being with her, you’ll never be happy again. Like you would do anything to keep her from harm.”
“Like you killing that man.”
“Yes.”
Jared walked over at hearing the topic.
“I never thanked you for saving her.”
“I would do it again.”
“I know killing a man its easy, but…”
“I know.”
“Must be nice, having a woman that knows you so well and whom you are willing to devote your time to.”
“Well, I mean, there is a woman who is devoted to you.”
“You’re funny.”
“Come on, you may not always think so.”
The conversation was stopped when Sophie and Candice walked up. A carriage soon followed, and James’ heart began to beat faster. Jared took his seat and Garret took his place next to his brother. Olivia got out first and went and sat next to her mother.
A few moments passed and Kiera and Monica were sitting in the carriage.
“Ready?”
“Yes.”
Kiera got out and slowly walked down the aisle. Once she was at her spot, Daniel went to the door. Monica took his hand and climbed out. James held his breath as he thought she looked stunning in her ivory gown. Her short black hair fell in waves to her shoulders. Against the white of her veil and dress, her hair and green eyes stuck out beautifully. Once she stood in front of him, he started to tear up. She was his future and he didn’t know why he waited so long to see it.
They said their vows and kissed, sealing their marriage for all time. Everyone rode in open carriages back the Willaimshire estate. The reception was absolutely beautiful and while dancing, they couldn’t be happier.
Meanwhile, Jared had gotten a letter from their father. He pulled Kiera aside so she could read it. She read it and became furious. After she stormed upstairs, Monica and Olivia followed. Garret and James went to Jared.
“What happened?”
“Garret, you’re not going to like it.”
Garret took the letter and discovered a servant had let it slip about how open they were. He was forbidding Garret and Kiera see each other until the wedding, if there even still going to be a wedding. Garret stormed off and rode into town.
Upstairs, Kiera was crying her eyes out. She was afraid of Garret lashing out and hurting himself or others.
“You need to talk to your father. You love Garret too much to let this stop you, not after what has happened.”
“I plan on it. Monica I am so happy for you.”
“Thank you. Now go, write me.”
“And me.”
“I will.”
Monica went down and told Jared she wished to leave as soon as possible. He went up to pack his things.
“Where’s Garret?”
“Stormed off.”
“Should we go find him.”
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
A few hours later, after explaining to John what was going on, Kiera left. She would have words with her father.
John and James went after Garret after she left. They found him in a bar fight, drunk. He had killed two men and seriously injured five more.
“Garret!”
“Get out!”
“Garret, don’t do this.”
“You remember what I told you this morning?”
“I’m pretty sure this is not the way to convince him.”
“Son, I will talk to Shawn myself. I promise you.”
“Is she gone already?”
“How did you…?”
“She has a bad temper. Sometimes worse than mine.”
“Kiera?”
“Oh yeah.”
They got him calm enough to take him home and John promised to pay for the damages. Garret fought often though and was always deep in his cups. James didn’t recognize him anymore. He tried to rein his brother in and not have him kicked out, but there was no getting through to him; not without Kiera.
Three weeks later, Monica was sitting in the breakfast room holding little Jason when Kiera walked in.“He likes you.”“And I like him.”Kiera smiled as she down to eat. She was slowly becoming her old self again. The happy, carefree Kiera from what seemed like so long ago. She was bright and smiling and nothing seemed to wavier her mood. Monica looked up and from her position, saw the ex
Monica waited for a letter from Candice. James was happy for his brother but down about himself. Monica told him not to worry. Olivia was seeing her suitors again and James was her chaperone, so it gave him a distraction. The butler came in one morning and presented Monica with the letter she had been waiting on.
15Jared walked in and found John in his study. He sat down and waited for
Monica walked downstairs one morning and saw Olivia with a suitor and their mother, but Olivia was pale. Candice held her hand as the suitor tried to calm her. Candice just pointed to the study. She walked over and heard James swear. “James?”“Monica, I’m so sorry my dear.”“What is it.”
Months had gone by, and Kiera told Monica she could get used to Dominic. He was sweet and kind to her. Mainly she was afraid something had happened to Garret and she couldn’t think of him as dead. A masked ball was being held and she wished she would come. Monica talked to James, knowing Olivia was also going to be there. She was looking for possible suitors. James agreed, knowing Olivia would need chaperoning. Monica met Kiera and was happy to see her friend in good spirits. She looked stunning in her ball gown. James was at the Bradford mansion when he saw Garret in the study.
Monica showed James the letter and James took the letter to Garret. Garret was in his room surrounded by empty bottles. Things were broken and stuff was everywhere. Garret had fallen hard it was testing their father’s patience.“Garret, Monica got a letter from Kiera. She going to London. Her father wants her to start searching for suitors.”“Over my dead body.”He got up and rode f
