John, James, Garret, and Jared arrived and were greeted by Daniel, Sophie, and Andrew. Sophie came forward first, having not been here Dale went after Monica.
“How is she?”
“She is well. She is was my sister and mother.”
“Good.”
“Tell me, what do we owe such a presence?”
“Come, we must speak.”
“Of course, your grace. This way.”
Once inside, the went to the study and Sophie excused herself. They traded pleasantries and waited for Patrick and Dale to arrive. Sophie was invited to sit in as things were discussed.
Dale spoke first when he stormed through the door,
“Just because you are of higher birth does not give you the right to summon me like a whipped dog.”
“What your tongue, boy.”
“Your grace, forgive me. I did not realize you were here.”
“Even so, you will disrespect my son in such a manor.”
“Your grace, forgive my son. He has not learned his place I’m afraid.”
“You will be wise to teach him.”
“Patrick, his grace has summoned us. Let us sit and discuss what it is that’s on his mind.
“Of course.”
They all sat down and waited for the maid to bring tea. Once she was gone, James stood up.
“I have called you all here for an announcement. Dale, after what I witnessed and what I was told, you revoke your engagement to Monica.”
“Now, wait just a minute. It can’t be broken off unless someone of higher birth had also proposed and she accepted.”
“Patrick, you are quite right. Which is why Monica has said yes to James.”
“What?”
“Monica will be wed in two months’ time. Dale has no claim on her any longer.”
“Father!”
“I am sorry, son. There is nothing I can do. I wish you two happiness, my Lord. Come, Dale.”
“This isn’t over, James.”
The two left and once gone Daniel and Sophie came over to James.
“Are you being truthful?”
“Yes. She has agreed to marry me.”
“Thank God for you. I knew Dale to be a foul boy, but Patrick’s offer was too great to deny.”
“You will not worry no more, my friend. We will be in contact.”

Monica walked downstairs one morning and saw Olivia with a suitor and their mother, but Olivia was pale. Candice held her hand as the suitor tried to calm her. Candice just pointed to the study. She walked over and heard James swear. “James?”“Monica, I’m so sorry my dear.”“What is it.”
Months had gone by, and Kiera told Monica she could get used to Dominic. He was sweet and kind to her. Mainly she was afraid something had happened to Garret and she couldn’t think of him as dead. A masked ball was being held and she wished she would come. Monica talked to James, knowing Olivia was also going to be there. She was looking for possible suitors. James agreed, knowing Olivia would need chaperoning. Monica met Kiera and was happy to see her friend in good spirits. She looked stunning in her ball gown. James was at the Bradford mansion when he saw Garret in the study.
Monica showed James the letter and James took the letter to Garret. Garret was in his room surrounded by empty bottles. Things were broken and stuff was everywhere. Garret had fallen hard it was testing their father’s patience.“Garret, Monica got a letter from Kiera. She going to London.
