LOGINThis chapter is dedicated to all my readers.
The loud sound of a blaring car woke me up, I didn't know when I fell asleep at the front of the gate. I was exhausted anyways from the ride to Lagos and of course the Marathon race I ran hours ago.
Lost in my thought, I didn't realize that two people, a middle aged man and a woman who looks slightly younger than the man was standing in front of me giving me quizzical looks.
The voice of the woman talking to the man jolsted me from my reverie.
'' Honey, what is going on here?, who is this little girl lying down in front of our gate''
''Temi, aren't we both coming from work now?, how in God's name do you expect me to know'' he replied her.
Turning his attention to me, he squatted to my level and asked, '' Hello princess, how are you doing?, what are you doing lying down at the front of this gate?, are you lost?.''
Sensing the calmness in his voice, I relaxed a bit.
'' Good evening sir'' I said, '' I am actually not lost, I came all the way from itasha village to see my mother's junior brother Mr. Bolarin. But on getting here, the girl and the man I met chased me out with a dog. I was so tired and exhausted, and having no place to go, I decided to sit here. I didn't even know when I slept off, am sorry if I am actually tresspasing.''
'' You said you came from Itasha and you are here to see Mr Bolarin right?''
'' Yes sir'' I replied.
'' So you came this far all alone?, how daring.''
Before he could ask any further question, he was interrupted by the woman standing behind him. She had been quite all along, I guess she was tired.
'' Ade, why don't we let her in after which you can continue interrogating her inside?, as you can see, she looks tired and famished''
May the lord bless this woman I mentally screamed, I was really hungry and tired.
'' That's a nice idea sugarplum'' he said.
Facing me, he gestured to the car, ''Get in the car, let's get you refreshed after which you can eat then we'll continue from where we stopped.''
I was hesitant at first remembering the dog behind the gate and the chase it gave me hours back. But then I thought, this people seem nice and heaven knows I am hungry and tired, if I do not follow them now, where do I have to go?, nowhere!.
I hopped into the car.
Pim pim ! Pim pim !! pim pim !!!, the car horned, on the fifth blare, Mr Festus rushed out, on seeing the car, he opened the gate.
'' Foolish man '' I muttered.
************************************
Coming out of the car, I looked around me, the house was bigger than I thought it was when I came in earlier. It was really spacious and stood resplendently under the moon, it was storey building with a porch.
Moving inside, I was stunned with what I saw.
From the huge mahogany door leading to a very large living room triple the size of our apartment in itasha, to the large king sized chairs arranged so perfectly with throw small pillows their colours blending with the gold coloured walls and blue thick curtains.
There were painting of different sizes and colours, in the middle of the living room was a medium sized marble table sitting comfortably on a small rug. There was also a huge picture of the man, the woman and the girl who chased me with a dog, I guess it was a family picture.
A huge plasma TV showing moving images of people dancing and laughing.
If what I saw outside was resplendent, then the inside was Splendiferous.
'' A penny for your thought '' the woman said.
'' I was not thinking ma....'' I stuttered, '' I was just looking around ma.''
Embarrassment flushed through my face, you couldn't blame me for gaping around, this was my first time seeing such paradise on earth, I had only seen them in the black and white TV one of my neighbour had.
Detecting my embarrassment, she grinned, '' It's okay, just feel at home, I don't bite. Have your seat.''
'' Thank you ma'' I replied settling down nervously into the nearest chair.
She also sat on a chair directly in front of me pulling her shoes and wig. Her husband had come in and gone up the fleet of stairs.
I stifled the laughter that almost came from this gesture, so all along this woman was putting on someone else's hair.
Bola! Bola!! Bola!!!, she shouted.'' ... Is this girl not hearing me.'' She muttered.
Bola!!!, She hollered.
'' Maaaaaa, Good evening ma, welcome ma. I didn't know you were back, I was in my room ma'' the lady Bola replied.
'' OK dear, how was the day?, hope you were able to get all the provisions I sent you to get, and the beef also, you know tomorrow being a weekend the market would be too busy.''
'' yes ma, I got everything ma, I have also prepared dinner'' Bola replied.
'' Alright dear, thank you. Where is Folakemi?.'' She asked.
'' She is upstairs in her room ma'' Bola said.
'' OK dear, prepare the dining, when you are done, Call me so I can inspect it, I want to go upstairs to check up on Fola.''
'' Yes ma'' Bola responded making to move to her chores but was stopped again.
'' Oh Bola!!, I forgot, please take her to the guest room.'' she said gesturing to me.
'' Young lady, you still haven't told me your name.'' She questioned now facing me.
'' My name is Anjolaoluwa ma.'' I replied.
'' Anjola, that's a really nice name. OK Jola, follow Bola to your room, freshen up and make your self comfortable. She'll be back to call you down for dinner.''
I stood up, carried my bag and followed Bola up the same stairs the man went. Arriving in front of a door, she pushed it open and I walked in after her.
It was a large room with an equally king sized bed covered in purple bedsheets, the room was painted in purple, even the wardrobe on the wall was also purple, everything in the room was purple in color, even the table.
'' I'll be back to call you down for dinner. The door by your left leads to the bathroom and as madam said, freshen up and prepare for dinner.'' She said.
'' OK ma''
'' please don't call me ma, am not that old na, just call me Bola.'' she said jokingly.
'' You are older than I am, so I can't call you by name'' I said respectfully, '' I'll call you Aunty Bola.''
'' Awwwn, that's nice of you, I like you already, you are better than Fola who just calls me Bola like I am her mate.'' Aunt Bola said.
'' I like you already too, thank you.'' I replied.
'' OK then, let me go and prepare the dining.'' She said closing the door behind her.
Dropping my bag on the floor, I looked around me once more before stepping into the bathroom, the bathroom had a tall thing that when turned water gushed out of it, the soap in the bathroom was sweet smelling, it had the fragrance of papaya.
I washed the sweat and stress from my body and draped myself in the purple gown I found hung in the bathroom.
Stepping out of the bathroom, I found Bola already waiting for me.
'' Dinner is set. '' she said smiling.
'' OK Aunty Bola, I'll be downstairs soon.''
After she left, I sat on the bed, it really was soft and I felt tempted to just lie down and sleep off but then I had to eat.
Closing the room door behind me, I bumped into someone who happened to be the girl who chased me with dogs, Fola. But before I could apologize, she started ranting.
'' Are you blind or what?, or why couldn't you see where you were going to, and you can't say sorry ''
'' I am not blind.'' I replied curtly,'' and I was about apologizing before you started shouting''
'' oh so I am shouting abi, aren't you the lying bitch from this afternoon, how did you get in here?.'' She yelled.
I remained silent thereby infuriating her, she pushed me aside and went down the stairs, I followed her keeping distance between us.
The man and woman were already seated at the dining obviously waiting for us.
'' Jola, what took you so long?.'' She asked.
I was about replying but Fola beat me to it.'' Mummy, you know her?.''
'' Fola for crying out loud I wasn't talking to you.'' her mother replied.
'' But mummy.'' She whined.
'' Just keep quite'' her mother ordered.
'' Daddy?'' She called facing him but he didn't even act like he heard. Realizing she was ignored, she reluctantly kept shut.
Good riddance I thought smiling in triumph.
Fola's father said a short prayer after which we started eating, Dinner was
White rice and chicken sauce, a special delicacy we only take during the Christmas period.I ate until my tommy felt so heavy, I doubt if I would sleep well tonight.
After eating, I picked up my plate and made to move to the kitchen, I guessed it was the room Aunty Bola entered.
'' where are you taking the plate to'' Fola's mum asked.
'' To the kitchen ma so I can wash it'' I replied.
'' No you don't have to do that, Bola would do that'' she said and I sat down dropping the plate.
'' You must be tired, so go to bed, we'll get to talk tomorrow.'' Fola's Dad said.
'' OK sir, thank you for the food and how nice you have treated me. Good night sir and ma'' I responded and left the dining room.
The sound of a hiss followed by a resounding slap made me turn back.
'' Mum, you slapped me '' Fola cried.
'' yes I did, and I'll be sure to do it again.'' Her mother said making her jump out of her seat angrily.

"Can I come in" Mrs. Jessie asked peeping through the hall opened door."Yes ma" I replied."Good morning ma" I greeted as soon as she sat beside me on the bed."Morning dear" she responded looking at me with a beaming smile which was contagious making me smile in return. She looked really beautiful and staring at her felt like I was staring at Folakemi, the resemblance was totally striking and the only difference was that she looked older and she has a lighter skin tone."I hope you had a good night rest and you aren't missing your other room?" she asked with a smile tugging on her lips."I had a good night rest ma. and I am getting used to this room already" I replied smiling nervously.I was wondering why she was here."Well I am sorry about the tantrum Folakemi pulled yesterday, she was just being childish" she said as if sensing my th

stood up, said a quick thank you to them and made for my room. Surprisingly, I felt happy, I finally have a home and a new family. I hummed my favorite song but my joy was cut short by what i saw in my room.My bed was dripping wet, the bed had been torn and fragments of wet foam were spilling out of it, the rug was thickly soaked, the curtain was shredded and pulled off into a pile at the foot of the bed.I looked left and noticed my books were no longer on the dressing table, I walked into the room trying to get a better picture but unfortunately I stepped on glass, I quickly looked up and realized the dressing mirror was no longer on the wall, a few feet away stood the wood the mirror was carved into making me realize what I just stepped on were glass crystals from the broken mirror.I winced from the pain and moved in better, leaving trails of blood on the floor, I immediately regretted pulling off my flops
The sound of the door forcefully pulled open startled me at first but got me angry seeing as the intruder was no other person but Folakemi."What guts she has" I thought raising my eyebrows and masking up a bold face, her presence slightly intimidates me."What do you want here" I asked with a fake smile. She totally ignored my question and sashayed into the room. She walked towards the wardrobe and locked the doors rather too loudly, she moved to the shoe racks sniffing at them, she moved to the window and looked out before finally moving to my bed side table. She picked up the novel I earlier placed there and flipped through the pages before dropping it back. "I presume you have a flair for reading" she began. Mean while, I stood surprised and partly scared as to what bussines she had in my room."So the
