CHAPTER 6

 (Laya P.O.V.)

   The last thing I want in this world is to hurt them. But, Mr. Eric's question pops up to my mind. Why are they after me? If it is because of the past, how did they know about me? And now, the most basic question is what is the thing that they are afraid of? And Mr. Eric how can I trust him? Maybe he is one of them. I have no one to trust.

  "If you still want to hide things from me, I can do nothing to you."

  "How did you know that they are spying on me?"

  "It seems that I'm not mistaken. sincs they didn't catch your steps, they sent you a message."

  "Can you answer my questions, please?"

  "I know you don't trust me. But you have no way but me."

  "That means you are..." I say these words and my hands are shaking.

  "I thaught that you are smarter... If I'm one of them how can I help you disappearing from their sight?"

  "Helping me doesn't mean that you are on my side, and you still didn't give a convincing answer to my question." 

  "when you enter to the cafeteria there, he was looking at you, he stood up by the door and waited you to take you seat and at the same time to choose the right and the closer spot from you. Besides, the way he was sitting is doubtful."

  "Oh! I see."

  "You don't have to see, you have to answer my questions. What are you hiding?"

  "I... I...Well, before telling you, promise me that you won't reveal or tell anyone."

He glares at me with doubtful look and then answers, "I promise."

  "Well, when I came home, someone rang the door but I opened it to find this." And I give him the picture of my family."

  "This is the police officer Mr. Kha...."He stops.

  "I am his daughter." I complete his uncompleted words.

  "How come that?"

  "Yes, I'm the missed one." as i say these words his face lightens up ... Not sure about that.

  "Unbelievable. You are alife?"

  "No, it's actually my ghost who is speaking."

  "Sorry, but It was said all his family get killed that night." This time, I decide not to speak or answer any question instead, I'll be the one who asks. His reaction tatally changed. Who is he? What is his relation with my dad and my family? What does he know that I don't? And why is he chocked when he figures out who I am? I did investigation before joining his team, but nothing indecates or refers to his relationship with my father or even Marcus. I remember that Aly once said that Mr. Eric was in Florida that time, the same place we lived."I am happy to see you again."

  "What is your relation with Mr. Khalifa?"

  "I promise you will know everything you want and need to know, but now, your family safety first. Let's go."

  "No, you don't need to go with me, maybe it is just a warning and as you said, they are still watching, maybe even my calls. If there is anything. We will get in touch." I utter and leave. This time he finds an excuse to escape but, I promise, I'll figure out everything by myself.

  As I drive to Nana's cafeteria, I was about to send a message to Aly but then, I remember that is not safe. This time I will  Aly is detective, whom I use to work with for years. He is dependable and trustworthy.

   I feel relieved when I saw Nana in her cafeteria with jenny helping her. So, as I expected they are playing with me. The plan will be changed and this time I am not going to play fair with them. Nana sees me and smile but quickly the smile disappears, then I remember that she is furious with me. Now, I have a hard work to do.

  I come behind her and hug her tightly, her body tenses but after she feels relaxed. We stay like this for a moment without uttering a word. After that, her hands touch mine and I say "So sorry Nana, I didn't mean it, please. Can you forgive me?" And tears fell down.

  She turns to me and say "Oh, my sweatheart! I love you so much."

  "And I love more." I say. In that moment, my phone rings and It is Selly.

  "Hello."

  "Hi, Lyly. will you come with us as it was planned or you have changed your mind?"

  "Ohh! I will and I 'll be with Jenny."

  "It means the adress will be changed. Ok, I'll send you the location."

I won't miss anything that allows me to have information concerning Morrison's family. Not a bit.

  "Nana, I am leaving now to see Selly and Peter. I will take Jenny with me if you don't mind."

  "Of course no. Enjoy honey."

  "We will. Where is my crew?"

  "They are working."

  "How are they?"

 "I like them, they are so hopeful and active."

 "Great. Jenny, wait for me, I'll call you."

I go to my privat place to meet the crew. As they see me they come to our place.

 "Hi, guys! Finally, you are all here."

 "Hi, Lyly! we missed you." They say it at once.

 "How is things here?"

 "Nothing is doubtful." Tarek says.

 "Keep an eye on Nana and Jenny, they are in danger. We have to use for the plan B. I'll inform you later. If there is something tell me. They are watching me and I can't even use my phone. You know what you are going to do."

  "Don't worry, They are our family, we are one family. We are going to protect them no matter what." Tonny says.

  "I do appreciate this, if you don't have anything to say you can leave."

  "There are too guys outside in our cafeteria. I saw one of them was watching you, and the other one is watching Nana, for sure, because I saw him around since 1 week." Samy says.

  "He must be our new client." Chris claims.

  "Yes, Samy is right, maybe you are mistaken, but be alert." I say."Chris give me you phone, please, I need to make a call."

  "Y...Yes, sure." He stutters. "Here it is."

  "Or tell you what? I'll take it and buy new one for you."

  "BBBBut."

  "Don't worry, I'll send you all the numbers by tomorrow. you can leave." I say. I give a note to Samy before leaving. 

        Bring me a new phone. I'll take it when I come back.

Me and Jenny head to our place, they are all there waiting for us.

  "Hello, everyone!" Jenny salutes.

  "Hello!" I say after her.

  "Hi, little Jenny, how are you doing?" Peter and Selly ask.

  "Great thank you."

  "Hi, beautiful!"

  "who are you?"

  "Jenny, this is Adam, Peter's friend. Adam,this is Jenny, my daughter." I articulate.

  "your daughter?" Adam asks.

  "Well, her adopted daughter." Selly answers.

  "Jenny, honey, you can go and play, but don't go far stay here."

  "Okay."

  "Selly, I have a talk with you. can we?" Peter says ashering her to go for a walk.

  "sure baby." And they disappear.

  "How things doing with you?" Adam asks me.

  "Fine. just fine." I say watching Jenny playing alone.

  "So, you are single mother?"

  "Yes, I am." Saying without taking my eyes off her.

  "It must be hard for you to deal with a child. Isn't it?"

  "Not at all, but Jenny is special, not like any child, that's why I decided to adopt her."

  "Is she suffering from an illness or...?"

  "None of those in your mind. Her parents were killed in front of her eyes, she has no one to take care of her. Her grandma was a friend of Nana, my grandma."

  "That is awful!"

  "She never has friends or meet nice people, she finds it hard to deal with outside world. She doesn't speak too much to me, speaking to her is like pulling teeth. Even me, I neglected her lately." I weep my tears away from my cheeks before he see me.

  "She is like you. She is strong and she can stand alone."

  "You don't know me. At all."

  "I can easily figure out the person in front of me, from one meeting. Beleive you me, I've never mistaken."

  "So, you are a judgemental person. What did you figure out?" 

  "Jenny has a miserable life like you. She has the same pain as you have or maybe the same past. You have a dark side in your life."

  "Hmm, interesting. What a gift you have! We all have a dark side in our life that we don't want to reveal." He smiles at me and I continue, "I have heard that Mr. Morrison is your father."

  "He is. Since you are interesting on him, I am sure you have so many cases againt him." He says. He is smart than I thaught. I'll go with his plan.

  "Or maybe, he is our client?" As I finish my words, he laughs."What are you laughing at?" I ask.

  "Mr. Morrison is a client of Mr. Finn?"

  "Everything is possible. Everything is subject to change."

  "When pigs fly."

 I just need time, I will figure out what the performance is and i'll play it well. Time is all what I need.

  "Hey! Where did you go?" He waves his hand in front of my eyes.

  "Sorry, I am here. Tell me about yourself."

  "What do you want to know?"

  "Your childhood?"

  "My childhood is not worth to talk about."

  "Your family?"

  "Well,I live alone, I dont have any brother or sister and my mother is dead when I was 13."

  "Sorry for that."

  "Lyly, I am hangry." Jenny says, rubbing her tommy.

  "Ok, we will order when Peter and Selly come."

  The time flies and we didn't feel it. Adam wants to be close to Jenny, he past the time with her. Selly and Peter planning for their wedding. And me, I just keep watching. Peter was right about Adam, he is a reserved person. He doen't like to speak about his family or his privet life and I don't want to ask more. His words make me think that he did some research about me so, he knows well he is dealing with whom. I won't be surprised if he figured out my identity and I really don't care. This time I will play it safe.

  Jenny enters the cafeteria and I remain outside to meet the waiters or my secret crew.

  "Miss Khalifa someone brought this to you. He said that he is from your office." Samy says giving me a blue bag.

  "Thank you."

   "Nana, it's time to leave." Jenny says.

   "One minutes, please." Nana replies.

   "Samy, I need to make a call."

   "Here my phone."

   I take the phone and send a message to Aly for tomorrow meeting. "Samy, Do investigation about the guys they are following us and be careful, no mistake is allowed."

  "Sure. Anything else?"

  "Yes, meet me in the back yard of my house at midnight and inform the others. Listen, don't tell Chris." And I give him some tips to not attract the guys' attention.

  I take my shower, do my things and wait for my brothers. At that time I decide to call Aly from my new number.

  "Hello!"

  "Good evening, Aly. It is Laya with you."

  "My old friend! Long time no seen. How things doing with you?"

  "Is getting harder by time. What about you?"

  "Not for you. I am good. Happy to hear from you. I have seen your message."

  "Yes, Is it possible to make it?"

  "Not at all. It is what I love, I love adventure, plus I get boring with this work."

  "Will you come tomorrow?"

  "Yes. Don't worry I know what I am going through."

  "Deal?"

  "Deal."

  "This is my new number. When you arrive, just call me. Waiting for you."

  "No problem."

  "Have a good trip."

 The time comes and the brothers outside waiting for me. Samy, Tarek, Tonny, David and Chris are my crew that I create. They were homeless, jobless and useless. I make them work for Nana and protect her. I give them a house to live in and help them to enter school of martial art. And they are the best. Samy and David are friends for long, I met them when they were 16, behind my school of martial art where I used to play. And now, they are 25.

  Where as the other, I used to defend them so many times, of course with the help of Aly. That time, I wasn't yet a lawyer, but I help them to get their freedom. All of them are loyal to me, but I always doubt Chris. And now, he confirms that my doubt wasn't wrong. I always beleive my guts.

  I leave my room on my tip toes in order to not disturb Jenny and Nana, or awake them.

  "Where are the guys?"

 "They are in the care, at the entrance." Tonny says.

 "And Chris?"

 "He said that he is going to the night club." David answers.

 "Listen to me brothers, I have bad news." I stop and study them, "Chris is spying on me."

 "No way!" They all say it at once.

 "Yes, it is. They must know about you, about us. I don't have any idea how they know about me or how they reach us. But Chris, I'll take care of him."

  "That bustard!" Samy says. 

  "I knew it, but I don't want beleive it, I said he will never do that to us." David says.

  "Whay did you say that David?"

  "I saw him speaking with a man, he must be a business man,two days ago and yesterday. I didn't see that guy before."

  "Do you remember his face?"

  "I can pick him out between millions."

  "Describe him to Tarek in details in order to draw the face. Tarek, please."

  "As you wish." Tarek says.

  "You have his phone, Check it." Samy claims

  "No, I didn't find anything. I'll give it to a friend of mine tomorrow, he will take care of it. Now, they new that I don't use my phone any more. They may make a move, be alert."

  "What about theses two guys?" Samy asks.

  "I didn't decide yet."

  "Why we don't get rid of them?" David asks

  "No, we know nothing about them. I can do nothing to them for the time being."

  "What about you? You need to be protected." Tarek says.

  "I'll take care of myself, besides, My friend will be with me by tomorrow. David, keep an eye on Chris for me, please."

  "It is done." He replies.
