I stumbled out of the room into the silent hallway,tremors crashing through me as I ran back to the suites. I had no idea how I made it there so quickly with my body shaking so violently and alleviated with pains. I kicked off my slippers and picked up the heels before rushing into the room. I took off the jewelry,leaving just the ring on before going in search of pain killers in the kitchen.

I whimpered and looked around quickly where Kira had picked out pain pills few days ago. I found the bottle, wrenched it open and threw two of them down my throat, washing it down with water. Oh my God! What have I gotten myself into tonight?!

I sobbed silently as I walked back to the room,ready to take a shower. I really need to wash my hands! I slipped out of the dress and went into the bathroom!

I gasped out in shock when I saw the lines on my cheeks and deep purple bruise on my belly. The bruises came as a result of where Mikel has hit me. What would I say if Caden asked me how I got these bruises?! My panic rises as I was unable to think of an answer.

More tears ran down my face as I washed my body and hands especially to just wipe off Mikel's touch from my body but it wasn't leaving my memory.

Several minutes clicked by before I calmed down. I put on a t-shirt and shorts. It should have been hours since I had left Caden in the hall. And I was a bit shocked that he hasn't made an attempt to come find me..probably he was busy with Ava. 

I have to keep this secret from him! But how?! With all these bruises on my face and body! No one would miss the fact that I was hit right there by someone with strong hands! I couldn't let Caden see the bruises and I needed to come up with an excuse for why I didn't return to the ball!

I walked out of the room to get water in the kitchen. And all of a sudden Caden burst through the door. His eyes scanned the room before they zeroed on my body. I could see relief rush over him but there was more to his look. He was angry and I couldn't dare leave my spot so he wouldn't see my cheeks.

"Why didn't you return to the ball?" He asked through clenched teeth.

"I..I..wanted..to return but...I needed...a...minute to breathe in fresh air.." I stuttered,well at least that part was still true.

I started backward when he strode towards me! He shouldn't come close to me.

"You don't look good..." He stopped. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing! I'm fine!" I rushed out my words.

I didn't believe I could raise my voice so high. His eyes narrowed to my face and down to the hands wrapped around my stomach. In a swift movement,Caden stood infront of me with his expression hard and his  shadow all over me.

"What happened to your cheeks?!" He growled,grazing my chin and I flinched in pain.

"I..I..I..fell..off..my heels on my way..back to the..suites." I lied and prayed that he doesn't question me any further.

Caden stepped backward to look at me but I avoided making an eye contact with him.

"This looks like palm.. prints..like someone hit your cheeks?"

Geez! He knew I was lying! I wasn't a good liar! I should have thought of something better!

"Who did this to you?!"

"No one! It's really nothing! I fell...but I'll..be fine!" 

He looked me slowly up and down my body. I didn't see him move before he pushed my hands away from my belly and raised my top in half exposing my stomach. I grabbed at my belly trying to cover up the bruise there but it didn't work. Caden had been angry before but now he was positively pallid.

"Who did this to you?!" His eyes snapped to crimson and he clenched his fists.

I shook my head as tears flowed down my cheeks. I spoke barely above a whisper. "No..one..I.. fell in the bathroom while taking a shower."

"Will you stop telling lies snd spill who did this to you?!"

"No! I can't!" I screamed in frustration. His expression immediately altered when he saw me in distress.

"You..don't..need to know.." I made an attempt to run off but Caden appeared in my pathway. I really hate the fact that Vampires can appear anywhere!

"You can tell me anything! Whoever did this to you cannot go unpunished!"

"No!" I replied sharply. Mikel was going to kill me. He already warned me to not tell anyone.

Caden face transformed to shock as he read the resoluteness of my sharp answer and then he was back to being livid. "Fine,if you'll not tell me..then I'll find out elsewhere!" He vibrated in fury.

What?! That means he would find out I gave food to the humans in cell. He walked towards the door but I rushed to him,stood face to chest with me and pleaded.

"Please..please.. don't find out! Don't do that..!"

His expression was hard as he remained in the doorway. "You know that..you can still tell me right now." He said softly.

I couldn't tell him about it..that would spell more trouble from Mikel! What if Mikel decide to lie that I tried seducing him but he resisted me because I was the Emperor's mate?! Oh no! Caden can't know about it! 

I dropped my hand away from him. "I..I..I'm..sorry..I can't..let's just leave things the way they are..." My eyes pleaded.

He turned away from me as he uttered profanity. "Why can't you tell me who did this to you?!"  I jumped in fear when he growled after some seconds.

"I'm..I'm..sorry.." 

"I need to know so that such person will never touch you again!"

I continued to shake my head because I knew that Mikel would never let me be except he leaves this Imperial or he dies! And that's impossible! I am a mere human while he holds a high title in this imperial!

"I want to go home.." I muttered.

"What?!" Caden gaped. I can't believe I just said that!

"Please..let me return to the place I belong..I promise never to tell anyone about this place. I'll move on like nothing had happened." I cried out.

"What are you talking about?" He asked with a confused look.

"I can't do this anymore!" I screamed out in frustration. 

"I don't want to be your mate! I don't want to be an Empress because no one will ever regard me as one who is worthy to an Emperor's mate. And why is that?! Because I am a human! I can't watch my  kind suffer because of the sin of one who died a long time ago!" I shouted tearfully.

"It breaks my heart to see my kind being degraded to the lowest point of being aused as sex toys. That's cruel and highest point of wickedness! We deserve a life of our own! We keep you alive by giving you our blood to survive! So we should be treated like gods and not slaves or pets!" I breathed out heavily.

"I accept the fact that a trusted friend betrayed the Emperor and started a war which destroyed this Imperial but come on! That was hundreds of years ago!" I said everything on my mind while Caden just stood there with a shocked expression but he didn't say a word.

"You want to know who did this to me?!" I asked and he nodded slightly.

"It was Mikel!"

Caden eyes widened in shock and surprise! I wasn't supposed to spill it but it was better for Caden to find out from me.

"Mikel thinks I owe him something for bringing me here! He was angry because I was mated to you and he couldn't have me as his pet!" I explained everything to Caden.

"Fine..I know I shouldn't have given food to my friends but I just felt concerned for them because..they only have to feed on burger once a day which is clearly not enough meal for a little child. Mikel caught me and then wanted to take advantage of me. I followed him because I was scared of what you would do to me if you found out."

Caden stepped closer, his eyes glowed crimson. He was angry. "So what did he do to you?" He asked,anger and concern in his tone.

I closed my eyes,trying to block the images of what Mikel did to me.

"Tell me what he did aside hitting you?!" He seethed his teeth in anger.

More tears streamed down my cheeks. "He..he..asked me to suck him but then..he hit me when I refused..." I sobbed and told him about it.

A deep growl reveberated from his chest. "I'll kill that bastard!"

"No..no..just let me go instead.." I whispered.

"You're my mate so you aren't going nowhere!"  He snapped back at me.

"No! I don't want this life! Few weeks ago I was in a cell,next minutes someone desired me as a pet and then again..I am engaged without my full consent! You Vampires really think you can do whatever you want with us!" I removed the ring from my finger.

"I am a human,mated to the most powerful Vampire in the world but that's not going to change anything! Nothing is going to change until you learn to let go of what happened years ago!"

Caden stepped forward. "How dare you disrespect me and Question my intentions?!"

"You don't own me Emperor! And maybe I wouldn't question your intentions if they were right!" I said Seriously looking straight into his eyes. 

I knew I had said too much but I wasn't ready to back out until I was done.

"And until you learn how to treat my kind well -"  I grabbed his large hand and dropped the ring in it. "I'm not doing this with you. And I await your punishment for feeding my friends in the cell." 

I turned and walked away at a close run. I was glad that he didn't follow me. I locked the door and slipped to the ground slowly. My hearbeat hard against my chest. That was hell of a long chat with the Emperor! I didn't know I could say such words to him. I hope I was right in making him see the truth and I pray he makes changes on how humans are being treated unfairly.

I relaxed after some minutes and strode towards the bed. I slide under the bedcover that feels like cloud before drifting off to sleep.
