LOGIN"I am hallucinating!" I said loudly in between laughs, like a crazy woman.
I should ask for a Psych consult. Right? I am seeing a stranger who is saying that his name is Cupid. What kind of parent names their child as such? well, it's not my business but I just find it weird.
"No need for a Psych consult," he grinned once again.
"I didn't say that aloud! How could you?! Can you read minds?!"
I yelled. I know it's rude. I am supposed to talk to people older than me politely and with the utmost respect. Though he doesn't look that old, he has this babyface. I just assumed he is older than me because he is taller.
"Yes, I can," he crossed his arms over his chest, leaning on the wall.
This is alarming. I think this guy is just playing me around, taking advantage of my post-accident-self.
"Stop fooling around, I hate it! You're one of my schoolmates who hates me right?! Come on, what's your name?"
I was quick to judge, I think it's understandable because I am alarmed. what if he's a killer? I have the right to be frightened and to judge. Who walks into a hospital with a bow and arrow?! He could've brought a gun instead of that, easier to carry.
He looked at me with amusement, "I told you, I am Cupid," in a serious tone he said.
"Come on, don't disguise yourself using some Greek God!! I won't report you or file a complaint. Everyone hates me in school, you're one of them. I can blame you all, I am pretty and Finn loves me," I said and winked.
"Finn loved you," he says without any emotions making it sound like it's a fact which I don't want to accept.
"Well, it has been five days, you guys in school will get the news so, tell me, who are you? Really, like your real name and not Cupid,"
He took the hood off his head and smiled at me, the suiting one. Took the bow and arrow and showed it to me, inches away from my eyes.
"I am pushing the code button!! I knew you were some serial killer or whatever!!" I shouted. I am three rooms away from the nurse's ward and my high pitch voice can get there as soon as I open my mouth and shout.
"Don't think of shouting or I'll shoot you. If I do there will be two arrows on your heart,"
My eyes circled and widened in horror, "Oh My God, you already shoot me?!"
"Stop shouting, for Zeus' sake!" This guy who claimed to be Cupid shouted. "That's the point why I am here. Let me introduce myself, once again, because you're such a brat and cannot comprehend well. I wonder what you do in school and become in line for Valedictorian,"
I rolled my eyes, "I do great in school, thank you," I smiled. "Just not with you,"
"I am Eros, known as Cupid in this world, son of Aphrodite, Psyche's husband." He lends a hand in front of me which I am thinking if I am going to shake.
I shook it to know if he's real or not, and he proved well, he's a real person, still claiming he is Cupid or Eros or whoever he is.
"I am Cupid or Eros or whoever I am between the two names everyone calls me."
My brown eyes circled even more with my eyebrows shot toward the ceiling, "You can really read minds! Oh My Gosh, I am starting to believe. Your act is very natural!" I complimented him and he dared to reply with a glare.
"How can I work with you?" He messed his hair and spoke through his teeth which made him look frustrated, "I know, I look frustrated because you don't believe in me,"
"Oh my God, stop reading my mind!"
"I don't read minds! I can just hear your thoughts," he reasoned with hands inside his pocket.
"That sounds the same to me," I shrugged.
"I can read or hear what's on your mind and that appears to be proof that I am Cupid,
"Well, I need more proof. Don't worry I believe you, whoever you are but I need more proofs okay? And I believed in Santa until I was twelve so, you're good," I told him.
"I am here to negotiate," he started and moved the chair on the side of my bed, sat there, and crossed his legs. He let out a sigh of delight which I think, sounded like it was his first time to sit on a fluffy cushion. tired, I guess.
"What kind of negotiation? You're not taking me to Mount Olympus, aren't you? My parents are going to freak out!"
He closed his eyes with frustration, "No,"
"Then what is it?"
"You're going to make someone believe in Love,"
"Oh, sounds easy," I smiled at him and squared my shoulders, he chuckled, "What's funny?"
"Nothing,"
His smirk stretched so wide he kind of looked like Cheshire the Cat.
"That's it? That's the negotiation?" He nodded and I remembered something, "What's in there for me?" I arched my eyebrows at him.
Ha! Do you think I am stupid enough? Wrong, man! I may have these three stitches on my temple but my brain works well enough for me.
"My end of the bargain!" Gosh, I could wake up his brain cells with my high pitched voice. It reminded him of the unfinished and incomplete discussion of his negotiation.
"Ah, I almost forgot!" He smiled, "I can make you and Finn end up together forever,"
The word 'forever' rang into my ears like it was a school bell or Melissa's car that honked when my accident happened. And that word, literally made my eyes narrowed, like a tiny line, like a flatline, when someone is dying or dead.
"Forever?" I asked with my eyes gleaming, trying to avoid frequent blinking even if I'm still trying to comprehend what he just said.
"Yes, it means you don't need to make Finn come crawling back to you," That made me smile, even more, a grin, an evil one.
Wait!
"How did you know I intend to make Finn come crawling back to me?!" I freaked out and I hit him with a pillow. My pinched lips started to part in doubt.
"Because I was there when you broke up," he simply said with his arms crossed over his chest. he looked unbelievably comfortable in talking about my breakup in front of the person who experienced it.
"You've seen me before my accident?!"
"I watched you die there as if you were in a movie," he grinned as if it's a pleasure to narrate those words to me. Does he even have a conscience?
What kind of human being grins when he watched someone else almost die?! A devil or a heartless person, both. Or maybe Cupid
"You didn't help me and now you're negotiating?!" I shouted at him and hit him with the pillow even more.
"That's the point why I am negotiating with you, idiot."
"You called me an idiot! How dare you!" I hit him more.
And I stopped hitting him when I am breathless. The monitor beside me was beeping faster than normal, my blood pressure was rising and my heartbeat is racing.
I took the glass of water beside me and breathe slowly and started talking to him, "It's hard not to hear your thoughts, it's very loud as you," he said.
"One more insult and you're not going to have this negotiation or whatever this is Eros! God of Love!" I rolled my eyes at him.
"Fine then," he sat comfortably.
"Why?" I asked.
"What why?" He said with a confused look.
"Why is it me who needs to do this, why not someone else or you? You're the God here,"
"Well, I did some kind of mistake, an accident," He started.
"Don't tell me you're the one who caused my accident?!" I tried to yell with a lower voice but I can't. Imagine being told such things as that.
"No, I didn't. It was you who cause that accident. You are stupid enough to cross the street with tears and nothing to see. Now you're accusing me or Melissa with your stupidity,"
I bowed my head with the realization of what he said, "And stop cutting in between my narration or we're not going to finish this negotiation," he added.
"Fine,"
"That mistake I did, you were present there. I was just doing my job, weeks ago, in William Memorial High School's football field with my arrows ready to shoot my match," he narrated.
"I love your arrows, by the way, golden!" I giggled and he glared. I am sorry, please continue,"
"It was Luke Lewis. Don't react, do it when I am finished," he paused and continued once again, "I hit his heart with my arrow with his soulmate Lily Taylor. Unfortunately," I made a sad and worried expression on one face, Lily is one of my cheerers.
"Unfortunately, you came into the picture. You were practicing your cheer dance, I am aware you're a cheerleader and keep your mind shut. I don't want to hear your thoughts. And then I was ready to shoot her heart so Luke's can be connected to hers. But you, crazy kid, passed by her and now you got the arrow."
"Oh Gosh, in my heart?!" I caressed my chest area trying to feel if there's a stick, stuck in my heart.
"Yes, you have, you cannot see and feel that, idiot."
"Fine, now what's going to happen? I am his soulmate now?! Oh My Gosh, I don't even know who he is, he's one of the nerds right?! is he hot?"
"For now, you are his soulmate. When clearly you are not his', written in the Book of Love,"
"Oh my Gosh, how do we take this fancy looking golden arrow in my heart?!"
"That's when you finally make Luke believe in Love."
"I can do that," I smiled with confidence, "Why doesn't he believe in Love anyway?"
"For you to find out," he says.
"Fine,"
"I'll explain it to you tomorrow, a further and more specific one," he said and returned the chair into its proper place, as if he's leaving, which I think he's about to do.
"Why not today? This hospital is boring me, it will be the cause of my death, fill me in today!" I said.
"Because your Dad is coming," he leaned on the wall again.
"Honey," Dad opened the door with lots of plastics on his hands full of foods that I love. My Dad knows what I love.
"Here's your food,"
"Thanks, Dad!" He joined me, took the chair, and started spreading out the food he bought.
"Dad, I want you to meet someone," I started. My dad was smiling with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"Don't even try," I heard Cupid say.
"Cupid, meet my Dad, Dad this is Cupid," I pointed at him and back to my dad and vice versa. Which made my Dad's face unpaintable.
"Where honey?" Dad asked and I heard Cupid laugh at me and now he's gone. He left, he teleported. Great, he can teleport!
"Uhm," I was thinking of an alibi, "I was watching cartoons, I was so inclined. Never mind, Dad." And we continued eating. I hope my Dad bought my excuse, I'm 18 and I used cartoons as my alibi
I still think I need a Psych consult.
"How come I'm the only one who can see you?" I asked Cupid as we walk to school. It's a peaceful morning, the sun shining brightly and bird chirping sweetly. It is another day of attempting to make Luke Lewis believe in love in exchange for a lifetime with Finn"When you were in the café, I ticked off some potion on your coffee," I nodded my head.
"They're both stupid,"Luke said seating on the carpet with all the other books he brought for tonight's tutoring session.Mom is in the kitchen making pasta, white sauce, it's my favorite. And I am sitting on the sofa with the literature book on page two hundred and sixty-four, reading the excerpt of Romeo and Juliet, the part where Juliet already consumed the sleeping potion and Romeo was frustrated he also drank poison, Juli
"Why do I need to make him believe in Love? I could just do your job and make him fall in love for Lily," I told Cupid who is leaning on my opened comfort room door while I brush my teeth.I know!! He's invading my privacy and acts like my Dad. I saw him smirk and it looks bad on him, ack! I almost spit out the toothpaste on my uniform."He can't fall in love when he doesn't belie
I took him to one of my favorite cafés. The barista, Charlie, knows me so well that he didn't need to ask for my order, he knows the usual. Luke ordered a sandwich and iced tea and we took a seat.I am not a coffee drinker, more on the milkier side. It's milk, milk, milk, more milk, and a little bit of coffee for me. Not that I don't like coffee but I like it creamier. My Mom brews coffee because my dad likes it dark.I
Jelly Anderson was laughing loudly, thumping her fork on the table. I was just drinking my fruit juice, Luke was eating his burger and the fat guy beside me was astonished by his friend's laughter."What's your name?" I whispered to the guy beside me while Jelly is still busy laughing so hard."Nate," he whispered back.
I am on my way to school. Dad was off to work as well and Mom insisted that she will drive me to school even if it's just three blocks away. She parked the car and before I can even open the car's door she bombarded me with reminders."Honey, your antibiotic ointment, don't forget! and also don't go to dusty places, okay? No parties for now, when your wounds finally heal then parties are alright." She kissed the top of my head.
