CHAPTER 6

" Breezzzz.." 
" What the heck" I muttered from my sleep while patting my bed lazily to pick my phone on the small table located beside my bed.

My eyes fluttered open. " Hello" I mumbled to the phone. Who the heck try to disturb this morning.

I blinked my eyes rapidly due to the sunshine penetrating through my white transparent cotton. I rubbed my face with my palm to get clearer vision then I opened my eyes sitting up from my sleeping state to sit upright while the duvet still covers my down part only.

" Hello," I said it clearer this time.

" Hey babe watup"

I sighed. " Dave...why did you have to call me this very early ?"

He scoffed. " This very early...Reya hope you checked your time ".

I checked my wristwatch on the table which indicates it was eight O' Clock, I rolled my eyes knowing I could still wake up at 11 am or whatever time.

" Yes is just eight o clock " I answered curtly.
Dave has always been the morning person and this can be frustrated sometimes like today because it's Saturday, not Monday, or any other day he will claim that is a workday to give excuses for waking me so early.

I grunted while reclining back on the bed.
I heard him giggling on the phone.

" Wicked jerk" I snapped.

" Ok sorry for disturbing your peaceful and wonderful sleep Miss". He joked

" Shut up....now what the dumb reason you called me for," I said while rolling my eyes.

" I just called to say hello and this is all I got from been nice " he whined.

I shut my eyes closed and rub my temple before making a " phew" sound for this insane friend of mine.

I sighed. " Dave I swear if you just call to disturb my morning...I will kill you before your family gets back from New York I promised" I threatened.

I can hear his laugh on the phone and I swear right now, I want to strangle that guy.

" Finally," he said through his laugh.

" Finally what," I asked. Scrunched my nose up in a confused way.

" You are back to normal annoying Reya " he jibed

" Who is annoying now....you are the one being naughty and to disturb my peaceful sleep and still have the gut to call me an annoying girl...I will teach you manners Chinedu  I promise you" I threatened.

" Oh now we go by my native name " he whined like a  five years old boy.

" Shut that...."

" Anyways.." he cut me off.

" First I called to disturb and to annoy you to get back my old Reey.  Second I called to make you happy...you know what I'm saying " he said while giggling.

" Dave..." I called in a warning tone.

" Let me speak lady" he snapped.

" Thirdly " he continued
" I called to remind you of Charles's birthday because I know you've forgotten".

I made an " oh" sound while rubbing my temple.

" Dave you know I can't go...I mean I'm not in the mood for any party.." I said.

" Exactly Reey..I know you will say this dumb thing...but I just want you to get all this off your head for one day at least" he said.

" I don't want ...and besides you don't even like going to any of the Charles and friends party so what now happened, " I asked. 
" Or you have something hidden from me?... Dave makes it known now" I teased.

" O shut it Reey.... sometimes you are crazy...I mean it. Nothing like that" he answered.
Dave never likes going to a party, ok not all parties, maybe some responsible ones. Charles is one of Daniel's friends I mean their circle, and he invited some of his old friends in school which also included Dave and me, but with all this drama in my life, the last thing I will do is sashayed to any stupid party with some player everywhere, looking for a girl to devour.

" So what pumping this time?" I asked 
" Yh.,"  he said lazily 
" But I just want you to shake it off"

" Oh now you do listen to shake it off type song " I jibbed.

Dave doesn't listen to any hip-hop song, if he will, it will only be Christian hip hop, I always wonder why  I'm a friend with this... what should I call him guy, but still his still the best. He might be a Christian and have some things he cannot do all because his born again whatever stuff they call it, but his still fun to be with and not the boring type, I mean he knows how to enjoy himself in a decent way.

" Whatever," he said

" But I want us to go Reey, you know this can take off your mind from something you're going through right now" he stated

" Dave you know Daniel will be there," I asked him.

" Yh..but it's possible you guys won't  make contact since there are gonna be a lot of people there," he said

" And who said that," I asked mockingly.

" Reey...just try this for once and stop trying to make excuses which you know it will never work on me".He pointed and I rolled my eyes knowing he cannot see me.

" Alright I will " I finally gave up, knowing is useless trying to confuse him.

" Yes! " He exclaimed from the phone.

" Shut up jerk" I snapped 
" Ok I will come to pick you up by eight pm babe," he said

" That's why you have to call by eight ..wow you are a wonderful stupid jerk," I said sarcastically.

" Awnnn..is anyone burning here" he jeered.

" Get lost from my phone silly," I said while rolling my eyes.

" Ok bye babe and make sure you take care of yourself..and I will give you  a call later ...and don't forget about the party ..and try to dress decently...and dress well....." I cut him off.
" Just shut up Dave," I said.

" Gtg..babe," he said

" Alright bye and thanks for the disturb," I said.

I hung up the phone throwing it on the bed. I sighed.
  I checked the time and it was eight-thirty." I wonder how God created this guy" I muttered.

I groaned before climbing off the bed. I made my way to my bathroom and picked my brush and slid the toothpaste on it. 
Wait I just came back to my senses that Daniel is gonna be at the party and with all those things they do at the party. Oh, you don't know. I mean something like a make-out session with some random girls or lady, truth or dare game sometimes, and drunken guys everywhere all this rubbish and what if he sees me, what is he going to do, will he pretends as if he did know me which he can't because everyone knows our family together probably from news and other media. Oh, no is gonna pretend he didn't see me or as he told his friends about our arranged wedding? How will I  face them,  because they all know that both of us never liked each other a bit, what if they know the reason why we are getting marry which I probably didn't know and I still wanna find out? I know is gonna be bad. All this though clouded my mind till I finished brushing my teeth.

I pull off my pajamas then slumped down into the hot water tube, allowing the warm satisfaction of the lingering water deepens into my skin, the earlier though came flooding back to my mind. I would love to go to the party, I just want to enjoy myself before I get married. I really don't know what's waiting for me, really don't know what will happen after this bondage marriage, I hope my plan works or else, I will be miserable forever. All I want to the right now is to forget all the problems In my life, I will want to be burden less right now, I want to forget that I need to find my real father, I need to work hard to be a woman of my own world. I will go to the party and enjoy myself regardless of anyone there.

I  heaved a sighed while I stepped out of the tub, I shivered as my leg made contact with the cold tile in my bathroom and finally I felt the cold over my body and I swiftly ran to the bedroom.

" Wait...this cold is not normal "through chattering teeth.
" I think I'm getting sick or something..oh please God let me just die " I muttered to myself.

I put on blue jean trouser and black Cardigan, is not December and I'm wearing this..Oh God of Holy...what has happened to me.I hardly fall sick and now, maybe that's better at least they might stop the wedding if I'm sick. O shut up Reya who said they will be changing their mind soon, it's better you pray you should wed so that you can be free from this prison.   I collided on the bed then cover myself with the duvet and the thought took over my mind again.I was deep in my thoughts that I didn't even know kike was already inside until I heard a shuffling sound and wondered where it's coming from.

" Reya" a voice called 
I snapped out of my world. " Yes, you called " I answered curtly.

How did she get to my room? Didn't I close my door or what? May be I forgot to close it due to all the thought clouded my mind. You've been thinking way too much lately Reya.

" I brought your food," she said while gesticulating her hand to the food.
She looked into my eyes as she stepped closer like she is searching for something only God knows.

" What" I snapped

" Like you are sick or something," she said while scrutinizing my eyes.

" No, I'm not " I denied

"Ok if you say so"  she gave up knowing she can do anything to make me admit,  because she knows I'm very stubborn and I will always like to prove my point and besides, she is not my mom to start arguing with me on how I feel or not.

" Dropped the food and you can go" I ordered.

She nodded head while dropping the food on my table before making her way out.
I pushed myself up from the bed, I can feel my headache " Arrgg" I winced.

" Bad headache" I mumbled.
I open the draw in my room where I kept paracetamol last time I had a headache,  I took the paracetamol out and remove two-dose to use, I carried the water that kike brought with the food and gulped down the drug with the water. I sighed before sitting properly to eat my food then but I can't just eat. 
" This is a huge disaster" I mumbled to myself. I guessed I lost my appetite.

I tried to sniff the sweet aroma of the fried rice and chicken to gain back my appetite but I can't do anything even if I love rice. I covered it for a while, maybe if I wake up I can eat it.

I slept back on the bed using the duvet to cover my body from head to toe, then I drop off.

"Breezzzz" 
" Not again " I groaned and I picked my phone from its usual state.

I tried sitting up from the bed but my head ached to restrict my movement. I winced at the pain.

I press the phone on my ear while rubbing my temple to calm the headache which has no effect on it.

" Hello" I head a female voice.
" Reya how are you" she squeaked.
" I'm fine and who are you," I asked still trying to figure out the owner of the voice.

" It's me, Debby "

" Oh my gosh ...Debby is that you, " I asked in excitement. I felt a sharp pain in my head and groaned.

Ok...I forgot to tell you that I have another best friend, not as Dave anyway, Debby, Dave, and I have been together but I'm closer to Dave. Debby has traveled out of this country immediately we finished our second school level to further her education in Canada, so since then we've only been contacting our self through phone but then she stopped calling me and I couldn't get through here so I decided to let it be for a while before trying again and that's when I found my self in all these messes that I didn't even remember to call my friend.

" Yh...have missed you and Dave so much baby," she said showing excitement in her voice.

" You sure is me or you really missing Dave " I teased 

" Reya.," she whined

" Ok I was just  kidding," I said

I'm not kidding, I know is true, Debby has feeling for Dave since secondary school and she still has till now but, she pleaded that I shouldn't let Dave know about her feeling. She really wants Dave to feel the same for her which I can really say because Dave never looked at any girl or get interested in them if I might say but I can say anyway, anything is possible you know.

" How are you and why are you sounding like that," she asked with concern in her tone.

" Hum...is nothing..you know I'm just having a headache, that's just it," I said nervously.

I really don't want to bother Debby about my problem right now, I know if she found out she is gonna be mad, but I can't do anything, for now, I will just have to keep it to myself to avoid questions from people. I mean they will really wanna know why we are getting married, that's to some that are closer to our family anyway.

" I will be ok" I simply replied

" Ok girl...guess what " she sang

I sighed " what.." I said in a bored tone.
I'm really not in the mood right now. I wished she had called when I was in the mood to talk or to play.

" I'm coming next month," she said in a singing tone.

" Wow really...babe I can't wait for him," I said while smiling. 
Have missed her so much. Debby and her gossiping stuff with her nosy attitude her everything, have really missed the girly part of our gist together.

" I can't wait girl," I said

" Same babe... I can wait either " I can sense the excitement in her voice.
" Bye," I said before hanging up the phone.
I sighed and rubbed my forehead, why this headache, not today for God's sake, I can't say I'm not going to the party or else Dave will think I'm putting on an act and he won't believe, I also want to go.

Dave was right, I need to clear my mind off so many things.

" I hate life " I muttered and slumped back on the bed.
