Surprised

Noah unlocked the front door and it was quiet. Nothing was heard! I looked at him and he walked up to Nick's room with me, waved to me and then disappeared into his when I knocked on Nick's room. I waited but didn't hear anything. Knocked again. But he still didn't answer. So I opened the door very slowly and looked inside. It was dark in the room and it looked like nothing had happened in there. Even the bedside table was right next to the bed again, only the lamp was missing on it. I continued walking into the room and turned on the light and kept looking around. He was not there! I felt a slight panic. Where could he be? I took my cell phone out of my pocket and called a taxi. Then I went out of his room and looked into all the other rooms. except in Noah's and Jonah's bedroom. For a second I thought about letting Noah know. But he couldn't change that Nick was gone either. I ran my hair through my hair in despair. Picked up my cell phone again and called Nick. But heard his cell phone ring from his room. He hadn't taken it with him. I walked very slowly out of the apartment, down into the street and looked around. But he wasn't to be seen here either. Shortly afterwards the taxi came and I got in.

The whole trip, which of course hadn't lasted more than ten minutes, puzzled me over where Nick could be. When the taxi stopped in front of my family's driveway and the driver looked back at me.

"Um ... am I not right here?" He asked unsettled because I didn't move.

"Yes, yes." I handed him the money and then looked at the house. He sat there! Nick was sitting on my doorstep and looking at the taxi. I was so happy to see him. I didn't even thank the taxi driver, just shouted "That's right." And threw open the car door and ran towards Nick.

"Nick!" I shouted so that he saw me and got up. I ran right into his arms so that he hugged me.

“Thank God, thank God. You are here. ”He let go of me and looked at me in surprise.

"After I wrote to you, I went to you, but you weren't there and I was worried." Nick looked at me with a slight smile and lightly stroked my cheek.

"I wanted to come to you about your things." He pointed her up. At his home I didn't even notice that my things weren't there anymore. I hadn't even thought about them anymore.

“Outside I stopped a taxi and drove to the café, but I saw from outside that only Jonas and Tara were inside, so I drove on to you. I rang the doorbell but nobody opened it. ”I smiled at him.

"Because nobody is there." He handed me my things.

"You do need it." He said then and I nodded. Then we sat down together on the step in front of the door.

“I'm sorry about it, I went crazy again. I didn't know what to think anymore. I was- ”I put my hand on his leg.

" I know. I would have reacted that way too. ”Nick shook his head.

“I know you didn't lie to me. I knew it as soon as I looked at you. I just wanted to hear from Jenna ... really. ”I nodded.

"How are you now?" I asked. He ran his hair through and then I noticed that they were damp.

" That's OK. I took a cold shower straight away when you were out. Then I cleaned up everything in my room and grabbed a bottle of water and went outside because of your things and the taxi and drank them empty on the way here. Now I'm definitely clear in my head ... Luckily I didn't drink the whole cocktail. ”I looked at him. His eyes looked normal again, just a little tired. I took the napkin out of my pocket and unfolded it.

"Here, I took it with me." I handed him one of the waffles and took the other one and bit off a piece so that he smiled at me and bit off too. We ate in peace until he had swallowed the last piece.

"The pills ... they were really mine." He confessed suddenly. I looked at him.

"Really?" He nodded and looked away again.

“I still had it and just kept it. For some reason I found the feeling good that I knew that at least I still had some. No idea why. But I haven't taken any since I'm back, you have to believe me. ”

“ I believe you. ”And I really did. He looked at me.

"I thought ... it would be good if you both became ... friends." He laughed out loud.

"Yes, totally good." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Should that be some kind of dear confession now?" He asked hopefully. He looked deep into my eyes. I had to swallow under his gaze and took a deep breath.

"Nick, I didn't cry in the bathroom because Jess and Sven are together ... but ... because I told Jess ... that I love you." I rattled down quickly.

But then Jess came up with a guy and David actually got on really well with him. Then we knew that the two are really just friends. David liked her because he could screw her up with her, as well as with us and sometimes have more serious conversations. About women and such. That's what he said back then. I only really became friends with her before Jenna moved away. She never liked them. There were mostly three of us hanging out David Jess and me. ”He smiled at me.
