Chapter 1

It is okay

"Damn it, I'm so nervous," I cursed to myself as I paced back and forth in the court waiting room.

"Hey, you'll manage it." Marie reassured me while she tried to get me to stand at the same time. “Yes, I know you've been telling me that all along. But today the press will be there! What if I screw it all up? ”I was still walking around the room like crazy.

“You're not going to screw it up. You have never done that before and you will not do it today. "

Actually she was right. I had only been a lawyer for almost a year, but so far I had always had success. But this negotiation was another step in my professional life. If I won this trial, I would have an article, if only a small one, in the newspaper. That would be my breakthrough. And that's why I couldn't miss this opportunity.

When I left the courtroom, I was petrified. Marie was already jumping towards me and pestering me with questions.

"I've lost," I managed to say after a few minutes of silence. "I lost my most important negotiation."

Marie hugged me tightly to comfort me and I put myself in her arms to find comfort.

She knew very well that I didn't want to talk about it.

There were a lot of things I didn't want to talk about. When I was hurt or just sad, I was unable to express my feelings. But it didn't bother her because she had been loyal to me since we were children.

"Thanks," I mumbled into her arm.

“Hey, it's okay. The world won't end, you just have to keep going. You still have so much time. ”

After a few seconds of embracing, we set off. She took me home and asked if she should stay a little longer, but I was too depressed and sent her home.

I let myself fall on my bed and wanted to sink into the floor, but I pulled myself together and made myself something to eat before I started the paperwork.

After two hours of paperwork, I got tired and got ready for bed. I went to sleep and dreaded the next morning ...
