LOGINIt didn't take long for word to get around, she should have seen it coming. Jun was never one to keep anything from his aunt, he was such a blabbermouth. And since her mom was practically best friend's with his aunt, it was no surprise that she would find out. Because whatever Jun told his aunt, his aunt told her mom. But this time it had been record time since Cain had received the text from Abby's mom the next morning.
<Hey. I heard I'll be getting a son-in-law soon, that handsome boy you said was only your "friend". I knew something was going on between you two. I don't know why you wanted to hide the fact you two were dating. Were you perhaps worried that we would scare the boy away by bringing up marriage? Well it's something that will have to be brought up sooner or later so you might as well do it sooner. You wouldn't want to end up wasting your time on someone that isn't even ready to get married and start a family. And you aren't getting any younger so it's not like you actually have time to waste. Unless...have you considered having your eggs frozen? That would be able to give you a few more years to find prince charming.>
Abby felt like she could of die of embarrassment when Cain forwarded the text her mom had sent her. Her mom had the habit of saying too much in her texts. She didn't even want to imagine what Cain was thinking after reading it. He probably thought she a loser who couldn't even get someone to marry her. She had already failed at it once. And if Jun hadn't wanted her, she didn't think anyone else would. There was no point in chasing something that wasn't going to be possible. She wasn't able to be loved 6 years ago and she didn't think she could be loved now. It wasn't like anything had changed with her, she had actually gotten worse. At least before she was actually able to sleep around with a guy but now she couldn't even have a guy touching her without having an urge to wash away every trace of that touch.
Cain was waiting for Abby to tell him what to reply but she didn't even want to reply to her text. She knew that her mom wasn't one to easily give up though. If she didn't have him reply back soon then her mom was just going to call and that was going to be worse since it would mean Cain having to hold an entire conversation in Spanish, something she knew he couldn't do yet.
<We could just play along if that would get your mom off your back…>
He hadn't received a text from Abby so Cain decided to just suggest this to her. He honestly wouldn't mind and if it would help her out then all the more reason to go along with it.
<We may be able to do that with your group members but not with my parents. It's not like the guys are actually expecting you to marry me but my parents would. You don't know them like I do. They have been trying for years to try to get me to date again. They think I am getting old and should already be "settled down".>
It was so typical for parents to be that way. Yet when she got engaged with Jun at the age of 22, her parents thought she was too young to get married. But once she hit 25 they started trying to push her to date just so that she could get married. And it wasn't just marriage they were expecting, they expected grandchildren as well. Both her brothers and sister had big families and the same was expected from her. She was the only one out of her siblings that was still not married. Even her nephews that were five and six years younger than her had already gotten married and were starting a family of their own.
<Then what should I tell her?>
<Tell her you're gay.>
<Who? Me or you?>
<You. My mom knows I'm straight. Just say that (YOU) my guy friend is gay.>
<But I'm not…>
Cain was getting tired of Abby not seeing him as a man simply because she had this fantasy that he and Josiah had a thing going on. He almost wanted to start cursing that close relationship he had with the maknae. He should have at least not shown it as much on camera just so that fans wouldn't get the wrong impression of them.
<So? What's it to you if my parents think you're gay? It's not like it's going to affect you in some way. You can even send them some photos of you and Josiah together and they'll believe you if you tell them he's your boyfriend.>
He couldn't believe what she was suggesting. It was true that two people thinking he was gay wasn't going to affect him in any way. But when those two people happened to be the parents of the girl you wished to date, that wasn't a good thing. It would affect his chances of being able to date her later on, that is if he did manage to get her to see him that way. Because he still had to change her opinion on dating. The problem was that she didn't even know that he felt this way about her.
<I'll just tell them that I'm an idol and that I'm not allowed to date yet.>
Technically that was true. He wasn't allowed to date NOW, but he would be soon. He had never cared much about dating before but ever since he met Abby he had basically started counting down the days till he could ask her out.
<You're supposed to be a Germaphobe that is also an Agoraphobe. How are they supposed to believe you're an idol when you go on world tours and have hi-touch events with fans?>
She had a point but there had to be a way around it. He remembered that not too long ago he had watched a movie called My Boyfriend's Meds and the guy actually had a bunch of mental disorders but he had somehow been able to live a "normal" when he took medications.
<I could just tell them I'm on meds and that they help me be able to do the things I have to do as an idol despite being an Agoraphobic Germaphobe.>
<Fine. Do whatever you want.>
She knew he wasn't going to give up and would just keep persisting by trying to come up with other things. It was better to just give in and save them both some time because in the end he was probably still going to en up replying to her mom's text however he wanted. He was the one that had her cellphone after all. And as long as her mom didn't think she was dating Cain, it didn't really matter what he told her so long as her mom believed it.
Abby noticed that the guys were starting to head out and she knew she needed to be doing the same.
She had stepped into the van right after Abel when she was suddenly stopped by their manager.
"You don't have to go with them today since you'll be skipping practice."
She didn't know why the manager would say that to her but if she was being given the day off, she wasn't going to complain. She was just glad that she didn't have to put up with another day of practice which was something that only caused her more anxiety.
"Oh? Does this mean I'll get to stay at the dorms for the day?"
The door to the van was still open so Abby was able to see Abel when he started laughing. It seemed like he was laughing because of what she said. She didn't think she had said anything funny though. Abel saw her looking at him and winked in her direction. She felt her face getting hotter. She wouldn't be surprised if it had even turned red.
"Either you didn't get the memo or you're starting to get memory loss on top of your recent personality change."
Abel who was Cain's roommate was the one that probably knew him best apart from Josiah. The other guys might not have noticed but Abel had seen a recent change in Cain. He had first thought he was just imagining it but then he saw how Cain had been looking at him differently, even staring at him for too long. His gaze had been almost like that of a fangirl. He had never looked at him like that before. Sometimes it almost felt like he was checking him out. The idea had first sounded crazy to Abel since he had always thought of Cain as straight but now he wasn't so sure of that. Perhaps Cain liked him just like he was starting to think he might like him...
"Music Beat. Recording has been moved a day earlier this week. I thought I texted you to let you know but I must have forgotten to do so. Your van will be here to take you shortly."
Abby was left flabbergasted and couldn't believe what the manager had just told her.
"Excuse me?"
She thought she probably had just heard wrong and needed the manager to repeat himself. Abel who had kept watching the whole exchange, stuck his head out of the van.
"You're an MC, have you forgotten?"
"Abel get your ass back into your seat and close that door. Driver, start the car. This one here is staying behind today."
The manager pushed Abel's head back inside and took out his phone to call someone.
Why hadn't Cain told her about this? He was supposed to tell her these types of things. She didn't think she could call him since he was most likely already at work by that time but she had to at least text him.
<Why didn't you tell me I had to be an MC at Music Beat today?>
<Today? That's supposed to be tomorrow.>
<Your manager said recording was moved a day earlier this week.>
<Well obviously I wasn't told that. I still thought it was tomorrow. And I wasn't going to tell you until later tonight cuz I knew telling you something like this too far ahead would only give more time for your anxiety to build up.>
It was true, the longer she knew about something she wasn't comfortable with, the more her Anxiety would be. Because with Anxiety, there was no such thing as preparing yourself for something. It was always better if things were done without having any time to even think about them because that way she wouldn't have a chance to come up worst case scenarios. She didn't know how Cain knew all this though, she hadn't even told him yet somehow he knew. This however did not mean that she was no longer going to be anxious, she was. Her anxiety was probably just going to be less than had she known about this before.
Abby thought about what she could do. She had her various medications, one of them specifically was used a lot for instances similar to the one she was in. It was called Propranolol, a medication that many people with anxiety used whenever they had to do a type of presentation with a large audience. It was prescribed to her for her panic disorder and had helped her out more than once.
Since the medication slowed down fast heart rates which is one of the symptoms of panic attacks, once the medication kicked in she would no longer have that same feeling of panic. She would feel relaxed. At least the majority of the time. It wasn't all that magical that it would work EVERY time. But when she took it she was usually able to do things she would normally not be able to do. She hoped that this time around it would do the same for her.
The van she was supposed to take had already arrived but she told the manager that she had forgotten something. She needed to go back to the dorms to get her medication. Propranolol wasn't something she took every day since it could lower her blood pressure so she didn't always carry it around with her. She only used it in extreme cases. It was mostly prescribed as a daily medication but with her usually having low blood pressure, it was too risky for her to take it that often.
<Are you okay?>
Cain hadn't received a text back from Abby and he wondered if perhaps she was mad at him for not having told her earlier. But he really hadn't known about the schedule change, they usually did it the same day every week. It was rare for them to change the recording day.
<As okay as can be I guess. I had to take one of my meds that I don't usually take every day. It should help me a bit with the nervousness but I'm still not sure if I'll be able to do this. I've never done anything like being an MC before.>
<You will be given a script to follow. All you have to do is follow that script while trying to sound as natural as possible. Haven't you watched Music Beat before? >
<Yea, I watch it every week.>
<Well you'll just be doing what you see me doing every week. It's no big deal really. It's easy stuff. Junho and Jinah are also nice so I'm sure they'll even be willing to help you out if you get stuck.>
Abby was a fan of both Junho and Jinah but she had forgotten that by doing Cain's job as an MC that she was also going to be working alongside two of her favorite idols. Not only that but she remembered that a lot of her favorite groups were having comebacks and that meant she might even get to interview one of them! She didn't know which emotion was stronger, her being nervous or her being excited.
Groups Abby liked like Astroha, 6Days, Dreamkeeper, MooMama, Monstaz, Velvety, The Guyz were all either going to have their comeback stage or were already in the middle of promotions. She never thought she would end up meeting any of these artists and now not only was she going to be able to see one of them but seven of her favorite groups!
It was like a dream come true except for one thing and that was that she was going to have to be where there were a lot of people. She could handle being in a room with 10 or perhaps even 20 people but fans usually went to these music shows, lots of them. Some of them even went just to see Cain and that meant that not only was she going to be in a place full with people but that many of these people were going to be watching her every move. Knowing this made her even more anxious.
Having arrived at the location of Music Beat, Abby could already tell that it was going to be a hard thing to even just get out of the van and walk into the building. They had these little fences put around so that fans would give the artists their space but many of these fans had either cameras or phones out to take photos of their idols even from afar.
She heard Cain's name being yelled out as she stepped out the van. Abby thought about what he would do, he would have probably looked around and smiled at the fans, perhaps even wave at them but she couldn't do that. If she tried to do what Cain did and she looked up at all the screaming fans, she would most likely start to get a panic attack. She had to keep looking down at the floor as she walked just so that she could get inside the building without incident.
"Are you feeling okay?"
It seemed like the manager had noticed the difference in attitude. But just like Cain had said, she wasn't him and even though she looked like him, she couldn't be exactly like him. She had tried to imitate him as much as she could but it wasn't always easy for her to do so, especially since she was an Agoraphobic Germaphobe.
"Just a bit of stomach pain is all."
She grabbed at her stomach just to try to make her point. Lying was all she could really do to try and cover up her odd behavior.
"You need me to get you some medicine? There's a pharmacy nearby."
The manager actually seemed like he cared and Abby thought that was a good thing. She always wished Adam had nice people that took care of them.
"I think just drinking some water will help. Thanks though."
She also liked that the manager had been keeping his distance the whole time, he might have been walking next to her but there was probably enough room for a ruler to be in between them. It wasn't like being with the members who always just seemed to be touching each other.
The first place Abby was taken to was a room to get her hair and makeup done. She always thought that the people at Music Beat had their own people that did the makeup for the idols, at least for their MC's but it turned out they didn't. EVE had to have their own hair and makeup artists for Cain. It made her feel special to have these two people there just for her. It was like she was getting a royal treatment.
There was one thing she wasn't comfortable with though and that was the fact that they were going to have to touch her. There was no other way around it, to get hair and makeup done touching was necessary. She felt like running out of the room just to avoid those touches but then she saw that both the hair stylist and makeup artist washed their hands and supplies before even going to her. She was probably still going to take a shower as soon as she was back at the dorms but she at least wasn't going to feel that OCD urge to wipe herself with a disinfectant wipe as soon as they were done with her.
Once done with her hair and makeup, she was told to go into a room where she was to meet with the other two MC's, Junho and Jinah. Cain was supposed to be familiar with them as they were basically almost like colleagues so Abby didn't know how she should act around them. She knew Junho was the same age as Cain and that Jinah was a year younger so she supposed they didn't have to act formal around one another. But since Jinah was a newer MC to Music Beat, perhaps they weren't that close yet.
Abby had been the second one in the room as Junho was already there, he was sitting on a chair and looking at his phone. Most likely Jinah was still getting her hair and makeup done considering how she wasn't there. She wanted to approach Junho but she didn't know if she should. If she did she would probably end up asking for his autograph and that would definitely be weird coming from Cain who was supposed to already know him.
Not being able to get an autograph did not mean she couldn't get a photo. She could secretly take one of his. It wouldn't make her a sasaeng, would it? There was nothing wrong with taking a photo and it wasn't like she was going to take a photo him changing or anything like that. He was just sitting down, the photo would be innocent.
She still didn't want him to end up catching her take a photo though cuz that would be awkward. She had to pretend like she was taking a selfie but with him in the background. It wasn't really going to be her on the photo with Junho but it was better than nothing. She didn't think she would ever get the chance to meet him again once she was back in her own body so she clicked and took the photo.
She texted it to Cain.
<Look! I'm in the same room as Junho!>
<Well I've been in the same room as him dozens of times. Are you a fan of his? Cuz you can actually go up to him and start a conversation if you want to. He's nice and easy to talk to. Him and I aren't exactly close since we're from different labels but we are still friendly with each other.>
He wasn't sure why he was even advising Abby to go up and talk to some other guy she might actually be interested in but he thought it couldn't hurt since she was supposed to be him after all. It wasn't like she could start flirting with Junho and ask him for his number.
<He's on his phone. I think he's texting someone. Do you think he could be texting Minki?>
<Minki? Is he your bias?>
He remembered her telling him she liked dancers and Minki was one of the main dancers of the group just as Junho was.
<Yup! And Junho is my bias wrecker!>
Abby noticed Jinah walked in just as she sent the text.
<Omg! Jinah just got here!>
<Let me guess, you're also a fan of hers?>
He had no idea she was such a multifandom stan. It seemed like he was learning more about her everyday.
Cain was glad that at least the MC's were able to get Abby distracted. He was worried that she would end up having a panic attack even before she got up on the stage. Anxiety building up over a period of time was not good, at least that's what Cain had read. So her having a distraction at the moment was a good thing.
Abby hadn't known it but he had been researching Agoraphobia and Mysophobia. He might never actually know what having a panic attack felt like, but he would at least be able to understand why they happened. And he knew that even though she seemed fine at the moment, it didn't necessarily mean she was going to be once it came time to take on her role as an MC. Agoraphobia didn't work like that. Part of the reason she was doing okay at the moment was because she was in a room with only two other people.
Cain only hoped that Abby would remember what he had told her to do the day before, to imagine herself talking to only one person and to keep her eyes on just that one person. That was actually the reason why he had asked to switch shifts with one of his coworkers just so that he could be there and perhaps be that one person for her. He only hoped she felt comfortable enough with him to do this.
<Yup but unlike Junho, she's actually my bias. I wish I could get her autograph. She's even prettier in person. I wish I were as pretty as her.>
<You are.>
Cain had typed out the words yet he couldn't believe he had actually sent them.
<I am what?>
<As pretty as her.>
<Pfft. I think you need to get your eyes checked. She's a visual of a Kpop group, how can I ever compete with her?>
Cain was in the middle of typing a response when Abby sent him another text.
<GTG now! TTYL!>
He took this as his queue. It was time. He had to get in position. Cain felt like he was a soldier in a warzone with all the screaming fans around. It was hard for him to even get to the spot where he wanted to be. He felt bad for doing so but he had to push and shove otherwise, he wasn't going to be able to do what he had gone there to do.
Abby was going to be up on stage at any moment and he had to be in place before then. He had even taken a big sign with him and wrote Abby's name on it. People were going to think of him as weird since there were no idols named Abby but he didn't care. He had to get her to see her, it was his objective.
It hadn't been easy for him to become a part of the audience since tickets were required to get in but he knew a way around since he had been working there as an MC. All he had to do was sneak in through the back while pretending to be just another staff member. He had to do things such as carrying in boxes and other things. He had gotten a few weird and confused looks when he would suddenly show up and told staff members he was sent to help them.
The good thing was that he had known which people to avoid, he could have gotten in huge trouble for sneaking in and impersonating as a staff member. But that is why he made sure to only approach the interns. They had all just been so relieved to receive help that they didn't even question him when he offered them help.
The spotlight for the MC's had turned on and Abby was standing with Junho and Jinah. She was to the righ of Jinah who was in the center. Abby tried to back away a bit hoping that most of the attention would be either in the center where Jinah was or on the left side where Junho was. She was only really kidding herself though, Cain was too gorgeous for people not to pay attention to him. Of course people were going to be looking at him, well really her since she was the one that was feeling all the stares at that moment.
It wasn't really the stares that bothered her as much though. People could stare at her all they wanted but what she really wanted was to not be able to see them. For them all to just disappear or for a wall to come in between her and the audience. She would close her eyes just like she had back at the clinic when she was standing in line but she couldn't do that there. The situation was different.
She had never been in this kind of situation before and that's what made her even more anxious. She was scared and every instinct in her was telling her to flee but she couldn't. She was STUCK there. That's one of the things Agoraphobes liked her feared, feeling stuck and not being able to escape from a place or situation.
Abby felt her hands had started to shake. There were too many people that her vision was starting to become blurry. She no longer was seeing clear figues but everything just seemed a blur. She even started feeling the sensation of the room spinning. Her body was telling her to leave and these symptoms were the way of telling her. They were warning signs that there was more to come and come they did. She next started feeling the chest tightness and it was getting harder for her to breath. She needed air because it felt like she was drowning.
Having been nudged gently by Jinah in order to get her attention, Abby realized that it was her turn to speak. She found herself breathing rapidly into the microphone she had been given. She was hyperventilating as she introduced herself as Cain. Her voice had come out shaky and it had sounded nothing like his confident voice.
Cain had hoped that Abby would see him immediately but it didn't seem like she had. Instead he noticed that she was having a panic attack. He first noticed it when Abby's hands were shaking as she brought up the microphone to introduce herself. And if that hadn't been enough of a sign that she was having a panic attack, her shaky voice and rapid breathing into the mic confirmed it. He was worried for her since this was only really the beginning. She was still going to have to say more things.
Jinah had just said a joke and Junho was laughing while Abby was just standing there as stiff as a board. She didn't even seem like she was a part of their conversation when she was indeed supposed to be. It almost looked as if she had been put there at the last minute without even being told what to do or say. She was also a bit behind on her script and there was no emotion behind her words, at least not the kind you would expect from an MC. She was supposed to be acting confident but instead her eyes were moving around everywhere as if she were scared of her surroundings.
Cain lifted his sign up higher and hoped that she would see it. If she couldn't see him then perhaps she would be able to see the big neon green sign with her name written on it in big letters. He had even added some glitter to it. As he had made it in a rush, it hadn't came out as good as he had wanted but so long as she saw it, the sign would have fulfilled it's purpose.
Abby could tell that she had done a horrible job and that had just been in introducing herself. But the fact that she was even able to still stand there was a miracle but that miracle alone wasn't going to cut it. She hadn't wanted to make Cain look bad. She knew idols were often criticized and if she went on the rest of the show as she was, netizens were going to be harsh with their words. They were merciless and often didn't care if they ended up hurting people's feelings. Because that's what idols were exposed to, harsh criticism without any mercy. They were expected to be perfect in every way as if they weren't human just like everyone else. And Cain always seemed perfect doing his job as an MC but she had ruined that perfect image in just a matter of seconds. An image that he must worked hard on.
She felt tears building up in her eyes. Her vision had already been blurry but the building up of tears only made things blurrier for her. She couldn't cry though, not while she was still on camera. She tried to remember if any of the things her psychologist had told her would help her in this situation but she couldn't remember a single thing. It was like her mind had gone blank.
She hadn't even noticed when the MC's had to get off stage, luckily Junho had snapped her out of her daze by touching her on her back and telling her that they needed to get off stage. It was time for the first group to perform but that didn't mean her nightmare was over, she was going to have to return on the stage after a few performances.
She had felt embarrassed that Junho had just seen her blanking out. He had touched her and normally that alone would have gotten her in a state of panic where she would need to spray herself with disinfectant spray but at that moment all she could really think about was of how she had just failed.
Cain needed to get himself out of the audience and get himself backstage where the MC's were. But just like he had difficulty getting in the audience, he had difficulty getting out. The place really was too crowded. Somehow it seemed like there were more people than they usually were. It didn't surprise him that Abby ended up having a panic attack. He would have actually been surprised if she hadn't.
As he had been an MC for a long time, Cain knew that there were interviews that still had to be done by the MC's. They were done in between performances and it was him that usually did most of the interviewing. If Abby had been nervous just by doing their introductions, he couldn't imagine how nervous she was going to be having to actually interview a group.
He was going to have to act as a staff member yet again if he wanted to get to her. And the best way he was going to be able to come in contact with her without raising suspicions was if he were to take her a drink and then pretend to touch up her makeup. He knew where the makeup artists usually left their makeup so he was going to have no problem getting some. He also knew where they kept drinks and he was sure Abby was going to need some water to help her relax.
Cain almost ended up getting caught while he was trying to get the makeup, luckily he was able to hide just in time. But while he was hiding he was able to hear two staff members talking about how awkward Cain had seemed to be acting, they were talking about Abby. He only hoped she didn't end up overhearing any staff members saying such things because he knew she would end up feeling bad. Once the staff members left the room, he made sure to turn off the lights just like they had been before he got there.
The MC's sometimes hanged out together backstage so it didn't surprise Cain when he found Abby immersed in conversation with Jinah. She looked to be doing better. He knew panic attacks didn't last long, especially when they were interrupted and her having been able to get off stage must have cut her panic attack short. She probably still felt shaky nonetheless so he was going to get that water to her.
"Cain, I got the water you asked for."
Abby turned around and was surprised to see Cain right behind her.
"Here." He basically had to shove the bottled water at her in order for her to take it.
"I'll need to touch up your makeup, will it be okay to do that now?"
She nodded and they left without another word.
Cain had taken Abby to one of the rooms that weren't occupied. They needed to talk but have no one around that could overhear them.
"What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to see how you were doing."
"Did you...did you see me up on stage? I'm so sorry." Abby hanged her head and started to cry.
"It's okay. It was your first time. And I should actually be the one to apologize since it's my fault you had to go through all that."
"It's just...if it weren't for all those people...I can manage 10 or perhaps 20 but not as many as there are out there. My vision had even gotten blurry just from seeing that many people. I was lucky we got off stage when we did or else I might have actually cried on the spot. I was so close to actually but I held back the tears and here I am now, crying. I'm sorry I'm such a loser."
Cain wished he had tissues with him so he could wipe her tears away but he didn't and there were none in the room. He also couldn't touch her so it wasn't like he could wipe them away with his hands or even his clothes. The best he could do was try to get her to stop crying. Something he had recently been working on was impersonating Abel's voice and since he was her bias wrecker, he thought it would perhaps get her to laugh. His English wasn't good but he could still try to talk with Abel's deep voice and Australian accent.
"Would you like me to touch up your makeup?"
"Huh?"
She looked up at him confused as to why he had started talking to her differently.
"Your makeup. I can do it for you."
He tried to make his Australian accent stronger. Abby laughed at this.
"Are you perhaps trying to impersonate Abel's voice and accent?"
"Yes. How did I do?"
"Horrible but it was funny. Thanks for making me laugh."
Abby was no longer crying so when she saw herself in the mirror, she was able to see that she was in fact going to need a touch up. Her makeup had been ruined thanks to her tears.
"No offense to you but I look horrible. I think I'll really need that touch up. Jinah told me we'll be interviewing Monsterz and I wouldn't want Wooseok to see me like this."
"Is he another bias?" She nodded.
Cain thought that it was a good thing that she was going to be interviewing a group she liked because perhaps his tip to her would actually work.
"You remember how I told you yesterday to focus on just one person and pretend like they were the only ones there?"
"Yes. I did that and it worked out for me yesterday."
She realized she should have probably done the same when she was up on stage but with her vision having gotten blurry, there was no way she would have even managed to have focused on a single person.
"While you're interviewing Monstaz you should pretend like it's just you and your bias Wooseok. Of course you'll probably also have to talk to other members but since he's the leader, I'm sure he'll be the one doing most of the talking. Do you think that would that help make you feel less nervous?"
"I think so."
"Ok. Good. Then do that. And when it's you and the MC's just look at either one of them instead of at the audience. But when you do have to look up front, just look straight at the camera man. Pretend only those people you are focusing on are there and no one else. Could you do that?"
"I could try."
His advice has sounded good to her and she really did think it could help.
"Ok. Now let me get this makeup fixed for you before you're called up to interview Monstaz."
Abby was surprised to see that her makeup ended up looking better than it did before.
"Do you usually do your own makeup or do makeup artists do it for you?"
She didn't even see why he would need a makeup artist when he was this good.
"Makeup artist. They sometimes try to give the members the same style so we can't really do it ourselves."
"I overheard the makeup artist that was doing my makeup say that EVE was looking to hire some new makeup artists. Why don't you apply for a position? I'm sure it would be better than working at a café."
He had but they hadn't called him yet. They usually preferred people that actually went to school for that. They rarely hired people out of pure talent, for that you had to really stand out to them.
"I'll think about it."
He didn't want to embarrass himself by saying he already had but that he hadn't been called yet. He was still hoping on that "yet" because he didn't want to think of the possibility of him not getting the job that would get him closer to her.
"Hey. Jinah and I have been looking for you. We have to go see Monstaz before the interview so that we can plan out what we're going to ask them."
Cain had thought no one was going to find them in the room they were in but it turned out he had been wrong since Junho had been able to find them. Luckily he didn't think he overheard any of their conversation from earlier.
"I'll be in the audience. Do you think you're going to be okay now?"
He wanted her to know that he was going to be there but he also wanted to make sure that she was feeling better.
"Yes. Thank you and not only for the makeup but for coming."
It had been a week of aches, pains and stiffness but the swelling was something new. Cain looked at his hands, Abby's hands and then at the peanut butter and jelly sandwich he had taken a bite from. The first thing that came to his mind was an allergic reaction. It was the first time since he was in Abby's body that he had eaten something with peanuts. She hadn't told him anything about her having an allergy to them but there was nothing else that could explain the swelling. Not only would the swelling affect him in doing his job but he had also woken up with extreme fatigue that morning. The feeling was almost like when a flu was coming but worse.Already changed and ready to leave for the e.Lee Cosmetics photoshoot, Cain started walking towards the bedroom to grab his phone but even just going a few more steps felt like too much. Feeling sluggish, he could no longer go on and stopped to lay on the couch. Laying made him feel the symptoms even more but just get
Carrying someone the size of Joel was no easy feat for Cain, especially since Abby's body was a lot smaller than his own. He had managed to carry Abby halfway up the staircase but it was then that she started kicking him and telling him to let her go. His back had already been hurting from all the weight it was carrying but her kicking only made it worse since he had to bend down even more just to avoid her kicks. He was near the top when he could no longer carry her. Had it not been for Abel that was there to catch them, they would have most likely fallen down the stairs and because of that Cain felt grateful."How much did she drink?"Abel who had been staring out the window all night had seen when two figures came out of a taxi. As soon as he realized that it was Abby and Cain, he hurried down the stairs with a blanket in hand."3 cans of soju and 3 shots of tequila."Covering Abby with the blanke
<Hey mom. I just wanted to let you know that I have a friend over at my apartment. He's Korean and doesn't know English.>The last thing Abby wanted to do was to end up surprising her mom with a stranger in her apartment. She thought it was for the best to let her know ahead of time, even if it was through a text. It had been weeks since she had actually talked to her mom on the phone.<HE? It's a guy?!>It was just like her mom to only notice the word "he" and then go all crazy about it. Almost 7 years of a daughter not dating would do that to any mother. And the fact that Abby was just one year away from being 30 only made matters worse.<Yes mom. Now please don't make such a big deal like you did with Cain. Joel is only a friend.><No boy in front of that friend?"<NO.><Well it doesn't matter. You'll prob
They had returned back to the dorms and once more Abby had to get adjusted to being called by a different name and not only her but Joel as well. Since they weren't practicing but had the day off, all of the members were at the dorms. Normally on their days off they would go see their families but since half of them were sick, they couldn't. And since both Abby and Joel weren't sick, they were expected to take care of the members that were. The sick members would call out to them but instead of Abby responding to Joel's name, she responded to Cain's. And instead of Joel responding to Cain's name, he responded to his own name. It had the members confused as to what was going on with the two but they would both just laugh it off and say they had just heard wrong."It would be so much easier if all the members just knew."Joel heaved a sigh as he sat down next to Abby. He had just finished helping Seth hang up lights he had bought for their roo
The next morning Abby woke up in an unfamiliar bedroom. She knew as soon as she opened her eyes since the ceiling appeared to be much closer to her, it meant she was higher up off the ground. Looking down, she saw Eli sleeping. Then looking to the side of the room there was a single bed with a sleeping Seth. It was obvious that she was in one of the other bedrooms. And considering how it was the room of the members that hadn't been sick, Abby thought that perhaps Abel had somehow carried her there. He had mentioned to her before about how they could switch up rooms so that she wouldn't have to be with him since he was sick.Looking at the alarm clock on the nightstand, Abby saw that it was 10 minutes till the alarm would go off. Having woken up because she needed to go to the bathroom, she climbed down the bunk bed's ladder. She noticed that her legs didn't seem as long and that her arms seemed more muscular but ignored those things thinking it was just her mind
It wasn't Abel's snoring that had kept Abby up that night but instead it was what she had heard him say before he got into bed. Had anyone else told her that Cain liked her, she wouldn't have believed it. But Abel had sounded so certain when he said those things. There was no doubt in his words and yet she wanted to doubt them. She didn't want another person liking her. But just like she had analyzed Abel's words and actions, she analyzed Cain's as well.She remembered a saying that her sister once told her many years ago, "A guy is only ever that nice and caring to a girl when he likes her." Abby was barely in the 7th grade when her sister told her this. And her sister being 11 years older than her and with more experience had of course been right. Because that saying had turned out to be true when a month later Abby's best friend Brandon confessed to her.All that time she thought her best guy friend waking up early so he could walk
