2020-11-12 23:19:56"Finally. Today is the day I get to join the University. Not just any university but the University of my dreams. The best university in Kenya, The university of Nairobi.
I had saved every penny I had just for this. I am
so happy that my hard work finally paid .My parents died when I was child. I was then placed under the care of my aunt but she couldn't take care of me so eventually I was up for adoption.My foster parents were really good to me at first but gradually things changed and started abusing me. They would beat me everyday.
This is one of the reasons why I'm happy to be leaving for the University. I would like to become a doctor in future.
"Where are you you little slut? Why isn't breakfast ready or you think that because you're leaving today you don't get to make it. I want my breakfast ready in ten minutes or else. My mom screams on her way to my room.
"I'm sorry it will be ready right away mum"I quickly rush to the bathroom to cover the scars on my face with some makeup then run towards the kitchen.After breakfast I'm ready to leave. I hurry to the bus stop with my bags in hand. I quickly board the bus and I take out my phone to text my mom goodbye since I didn't want to face her when I left.
Finally I'm at the University. I move my bags towards my room after my registration is done.
"Hi I'm Nadia. I'll be your roommate. And you are?. Says a girl in the room.
"I'm Clara. Clara Hausa".I say stretching out my hand.
"Nice to meet you Clara. Nice name by the way "she says shaking my hand .
"Nice to meet you too and thank you ""Well I'll leave you to get settled in. By the way what course are you taking?""I'm taking medicine,you?"me too "
Well I'll see you later. I'm going to order some food want anything "?
"No I have no money on me". I answer looking down embarrassed."Don't be silly it's on me"
"well then I'll have some fries. Thanks "
"No need I'm your friend now right? "
"Yeah you are"
"well then go freshen up then come we eat"
I nod headed towards the bathroomAfter I shower we sit down to eat.
"ahsante"i tell Nadia after dinner(ahsante means thank you in Swahili language)"No need to thank me besides I have a few thousand shillings in my account that I don't know how to spend. And I need a favor from you ".
"A favor? What favor?"I ask curious.
"Yeah. There is this charity event my parents want me to attend, but I don't want to go alone. could you please come with me. Please don't say no".She says giving me her best puppy dog eyes.
"sure I'll come with you"
"really?Thank you thank you thank you "she screams jumping up and down making me laugh
"well let's go to bed. We have a class tomorrow very early in the morning.
"Goodnight Nadia""Goodnight Cara. We will go shopping tomorrow ""mmh "Nadia moaned in her sleep.
After around ten minutes she finally got up
We quickly got ready and left for classClasses ended at 2pm and we immediately left to go shopping. I was a little surprised when Nadia pulled up in front of the most beautiful boutique in town since she had told how rich her parents were. They own nearly half of the malls in the country. But despite that she was very down to earth one would never guess.
Both Nadia and I chose red gowns for the event. They were really beautiful and classy. Not my usual type but they were lovely. We also chose red high-heeled shoes to match our gowns. We then passed by the salon to get our hair braided.
