[18 YEARS LATER]

Cedric closed the book in front of him and sighed. The teacher had just left the class and it had already turned to a market place with students trooping in and out.

Picking up his bag, he left the class and walked down the hallway to his locker,on getting there he found a note taped to his locker with the word BASTARD boldly written on it. He could hear the whispers of the people in the Hallway muttering and giggling as he tore the note to pieces.

"Hey Ced, what was it that was pasted this time on your locker?"

Turning back,he saw a petite girl standing behind him with a mocking glint in her eyes.

"And what business of yours is that?" he retorted.

A mocking smile curled up her lips before she walked out but as she left,he heard her whisper to her friends who were waiting for her.

"He is a klutz"

"A weirdo is better, always looking aloof from the world".

All these little chitchats were going on behind him but it seemed like no one was around,he simply took out his hoodie and MP4 player and left leaving the crowd to point fingers and gossip . None of this bothered him after all it was less than six months left for their graduation before he left this shithole called a school.

"Hey Ced, how were classes today?" the cook asked he held his tray.

"They were okay, a bit boring tho" he replied.

"I made a bit of your favourite sauce today"

"No need for that, I'm very much okay with this" he added and left the line.

The excitement in her eyes could tell that she had taken her time to prepare that meal but he didn't want to divert the bullying he received to her, there wasn't space for an extra drama in his life now.

He located his table soon and sat down,as usual it was empty and stood behind the Cafeteria. Who would want to associate with the most absurd guy in the whole school? Even though they were those that were intrigued by the mysterious aura he carried around, they dared not come close for fear of being bullied too.

But Cedric loved the space they gave him, at least he had personal space and privacy and it gave him time to think about his life. Sometimes he wondered why his dad insisted on him studying outside the city when he could study in a prestigious college in the neighborhood notwithstanding that he had to keep a low profile, the only reason why his bullies had the power and guts to do what they did.

A piece of potato flew across the hall and hit him on his head jerking him out of his thoughts. He turned back to find the petite girl he had seen in the hallway with her friends bending their heads and trying their best to hide the cheeky smiles on their faces.

"We are sorry about that Cedric, we were aiming for the trash bin beside you"

"Yeah.....but I think you should find a better place to sit or else people would associate you with the trash soon and more of that would be coming your way" the dark- haired girl beside her spoke up and the whole hall erupted in laughter.

From where he sat,he did a quick observation and noticed that were four seated on the table; two dark-haired girls,a blonde and a red hair, the blonde was definitely the leader of the group. A dark look formed in his eyes as he walked towards their table.

"What the hell do you -"

Her sentence was interrupted by the drink pouring on her uniform. The whole hall was silent as they watched the unfolding drama in front of them while some brought out their phones to video. Cora's face turned red as the whole school watched what happened, she hadn't even noticed him walking up to their table. How dare the fool?

"You creep!" she raised her fist but it was caught in the air and forced down. A second round of drink was emptied on her again and her eyes turned red.

"Do you know what you are doing?"

Cedric looked at her and laughed; she looked cute in her helpless state, more like a doll stuffed up with chili powder. The twinkle in his eyes showed he was totally enjoying himself.

"You are an animal" Cora shouted.

"Then what should I call you? A hero? Calm your nerves young lady, I didn't do much"

"You will pay for this....I'll make sure you leave this school"

"Pfft....what can you possibly do Cora?" the smile vanished from his face and he held her wrist tightly.

"Before you start making empty threats, you should look at yourself properly. What were you thinking by trying to get involved in my way" he paused. "Worse still, you are a girl. If you were so jobless, you should find a way to clean your name from the boys locker room,it makes me wanna puke when I see your name around".

Cora's face paled off as if she had seen a ghost and tried to release her hand but the grip only became tighter.

"This is just a little payback for what you did. If you ever dare to cross my path again,I will make you suffer for the rest of your useless life."

"Are you threat.... threatening me?" She stammered.

But no reply came because he had left the Cafeteria.Walking briskly to the men's room,he locked the door and poured water on his face.

It was obvious his anger was triggered because his veins were outlined on his face.

This was just the height of it all,how could a girl possibly have the guts to try and bully him. Wasn't this a sign of how much he had endured this taunting from the whole school.

After calming himself down,he left the toilet. It was time for things to change,if anyone tried as much as to bully him again, then they were definitely asking for a death sentence.

Taking his note from his locker,he went to class and sat quietly waiting for the next lesson to begin.

  • One blissful summer   PROLOGUE

The rain poured in torrents making the usual "pit-pat" sound on the window pane. A light suddenly came on flooding the room with it's florescent current while the shadow of two figures could be made out entering the room. Casting a quick glance around the corridor and seeing no one was in sight, the door was shut quietly and locked."Are you sure no one saw you leave the pantry?""Yes Lisa. All the servants have been relieved of their duties and dismissed""That's perfect" she whispered to herself. "What of Lucas?""He's fast asleep my lady, the sleeping pills are definitely working"."We don't have time to waste.... before anyone becomes suspicious". Pacing around the room, she took repeated glances at the street silently saying a prayer for the rain to stop. But it seemed that the rain could read her mind and increased the ferocity at which it fell."Eline, I can't wait any longer. Each
