Chapter Two

The  P.A crackled and came alive with the voice of the attendant announcing the next flight. Alvin picked his box from the luggage pulley and dragged it towards the exit. The smell of coffee and fresh flowers filled his nose as he breathed them in and smiled, the rosy color returned to his cheeks and memories of his wife immediately filled his mind; he had really missed this place.

Before getting to the exit, he made a quick stop at the florist’s shop and picked a bunch of roses for his wife. It was his usual routine and the thought of her waiting for him with smiles made him happier, despite his vast connections and series of bodyguards he always looked forward to his wife picking him from the airport.

He soon got to the exit and found his car parked as usual in front of the exit door.

‘‘Welcome back Mr. Ramirez’’ Carl, his personal assistant greeted opening the door for him.

Nodding his head, he entered the car and noticed that there was something odd.

‘’Your wife really fed you well, just a few weeks away and you are looking so robust’’

‘’That’s her job Alvin and that’s our family matter’’ Carl replied back laughing before pulling out of the exit door.

‘’So how was your trip?’’

‘’It was okay, at least I succeeded in getting them to sign the contract so our next movie is going to be shooting in Philippine’’ Alvin added immediately.

‘’Carl, did you see Stacy before leaving the house?’’

‘She was around but she told me to go without her’’

‘’She’s probably feeling down’’ he added.

‘’Well then, drive quickly to the villa. I need to know if she’s okay’’

Carl raised his eyes and looked at Alvin from the rear mirror; his childhood friend hadn’t changed a bit especially when it came to Stacy. The crease in his temples showed he was very worried but his face depicted nothing of his emotions. He was still very good at bottling his emotions, a quality and trait he loved and admired about him.

Hitting the accelerator, he increased the speed of the car and soon got to the prestigious villa they lived in.

Without carrying out his luggage. Alvin got out of the car and raced to the house. Carl couldn’t help but let out a light laughter; to the public Alvin was a black bellied tycoon that controlled vast companies, agencies and multiple assets but to his family at home, he was a calm man that simply loved his wife and doted on her. The sight of him looking like a frightened puppy made him laugh the more.

‘’Welcome back home sir’’ the housekeeper greeted as she opened the door.

Alvin waved his hand an acknowledgement in response to her greeting, racing up the stairs he opened the door to the master bedroom and was disappointed. The room still smelt of her fragrance meaning it wasn’t long she had left so where could she be. As he came back downstairs, he sighted the butler carrying his boxes.

"Where is Stacy?’’ he questioned.

"She went out with Sara not too long ago sir"

"Where did they go then? She’s supposed to be here’’ his patience was clearly running out.

"She went to the hospital with –‘’

The sentence was stopped midway because Alvin was already out of the door.

"Carl, take me to the military hospital’’. Turning to the security, he gestured for them to open the gate.

“Alvin…. what happened?”

“She’s with Sara, there’s definitely a problem” he replied quietly.

If there was any hospital she went to, it had to be the military hospital; Stacy’s brother worked there and that was where she gave birth to Sara. As they moved, Alvin offered a little prayer in his heart and hoped nothing serious was wrong with the both of them. Opening his phone, he saw a voicemail from her.

“Al, we are in the military hospital. I’m sorry I couldn't come to the airport. Please come quickly”.

‘I’m coming there my love’ he whispered and closed his eyes.

  • One blissful summer   PROLOGUE

The rain poured in torrents making the usual "pit-pat" sound on the window pane. A light suddenly came on flooding the room with it's florescent current while the shadow of two figures could be made out entering the room. Casting a quick glance around the corridor and seeing no one was in sight, the door was shut quietly and locked."Are you sure no one saw you leave the pantry?""Yes Lisa. All the servants have been relieved of their duties and dismissed""That's perfect" she whispered to herself. "What of Lucas?""He's fast asleep my lady, the sleeping pills are definitely working"."We don't have time to waste.... before anyone becomes suspicious". Pacing around the room, she took repeated glances at the street silently saying a prayer for the rain to stop. But it seemed that the rain could read her mind and increased the ferocity at which it fell."Eline, I can't wait any longer. Each
