Some of the servants who are aware of the affair between the Long clan's eldest young master and their second young miss can only sigh inwardly and throw pity looks to Xiuying. All of them have the same thought as they saw the place where their third young miss came from, that is where the two couple are staying instead of attending the banquet.
After few minutes they see Xue run after her young miss with worry in her eyes and thought that she is sad for Xiuying if only they knew that Xue is currently worrying how to fix her young miss' ruined dress as it was personally ordered to be made by their Third Madam, Xiuying's mother.
Meanwhile in the main hall seven people are discussing the current year issues and plans of the clan while their servants are serving drinks and snacks.
"Cousin I heard that your new business is doing well and since your only son is always travelling why don't you take our sons to train and help you manage the family stores." First Elder, Qi Chang suggested to Xiuying's father. As a merchant since his younger years how can Qi Chen not see through his uncle and first cousin's plan to take over his businesses.
"We can have that arrange however as I started my stores from scratch I would like them to start as helpers as I did back then." Qi Chen answered smiling politely as always.
"How can you let the young masters of our clan work as helpers!" First Elder's wife Fang Fei shouted she won't let her grandsons be treated as servants. They are the future masters of Qi clan and shouldn't be dirtied as they work!
"Oh but when I was starting why I was asked to do the same. I want them to experience and be molded as good merchants by knowing every aspect of my businesses." Chen still answered politely, emphasizing that it is his businesses and not part of the clan properties, as though he didn't see the anger in Fang Fei's eyes.
"Stop your outburst Fei'er!" Qi Bao domineering voice echoed in the hall. He can only swallow the anger he has since he needs to keep his face in front of his siblings and members of the clan. Though he doesn't like his grandsons working as servants he can't give his dead brother's son, Qi Chen any reason to rebel. He was only able to get the position as Patriach of the clan when he schemed against Chen's father and since then he would always show them his benevolent side while attacking behind their backs.
"Chen'er is right every young master of our family needs to experience what he did that will help them realize the importance of each aspect of business operations." Qi Bao continued and agree to his nephew.
Suddenly they heard the door of the main hall opened forcefully and see a young lady crying while rushing to Chen and his wife's side, her dress is dirty the same goes with her face that is covered with snots and tears despite the messy appearance it didn't diminish her beauty. Her eyes full of tears make people pity her, to eagerly protect and bring her justice.
"Outrageous! To disturb the Qi elders' meeting!" Fang Fei berated the young lady, the First Elder just glared at his wife who acts like a shrew in the market. Fang Fei shuts her mouth seeing that glare she knows she over reacted.
"Xiuying what are you doing here, you haven't fully recovered from your illness?" Xi Hui gently reprimanded Xiuying, she knows that her daughter wants a sudden play, her husband also noticed the mischief glint in their daughter's eyes and they tend to play along.
That is Xiuying!!!
The elders and old patriach are shocked to hear Xi Hui calling the lady Xiuying. Does this mean the plan of Qi Chang and Patriach's plan to replace Xiuying in the marriage alliance with Long clan with Qi Fan failed?
With Xiuying running to the hall they clearly see that she is now well, why didn't they know this?! Qi Chang glanced at his father and the other nod understanding what his son is thinking. Qi Bai just silently observes with her wife, it seems his niece is a sly baby fox just like her father Qi Chen.
