CHAPTER-2 REVEALING TRUTH!!!

CHAPTER-2

Callista-‘’what are you talking about? Where I a…am going?’’ I asked my mom stuttering completely confused and somewhat scared.

Rica-‘’you are going from where you belong’’ my mom replied. 

Callista-‘’what do you mean?’’I asked my mom. I know my family do not treat me well but after all, we are a family. She cannot send me anywhere without my permission.

Rica-‘’I have sold you to aunt Selena’’ my mom replied coldly then walked off and sat down on the couch where I was sitting earlier, she poured herself a glass of champagne and took a sip then continued.

Rica- ‘’ I have done a lot for you, now it’s your turn to pay us back’’.

It felt like my mom dropped a bomb upon me. I thought that maybe I misheard so I asked her again what she was saying.

Callista- Mom, sorry I did not understand. C...can you please repeat it?

I asked my mom stuttering, in deep inside me I knew that I did not heard wrong but my heart was not ready to accept what she was saying. I asked again hoping she will clear herself.

Rica- Is it so hard for you to understand? We have sold you. You are going from this house. 

She replied me shouting and giving me disgusting looks. It felt like ground slipped beneath my feet.

Callista- ’w…what!! What are you talking about mom? How can you sell me? For god’s sake, I am not an object. You cannot just go and sell me’’

 I argued back. I was shocked and I had mixed feelings I was going through anger, shock, sadness and many more emotions I was unaware about.

Rica-’just shut up bitch. Do you not know Peter is struggling with his business? Can’t you just sacrifice yourself for his sake? Do you know we are going to be bankrupt? We have done you a lot now it is your turn to pay us back.

My mom informed me, how can she be so cruel and sell me like this. I know she don’t love me like she does to Eva and Charles but for god’s sake she can’t sold me like this after all I am her own blood, her own daughter whom she kept in her uterus for nine months . 

Callista-‘’ but why me? Why…y me always? There is Eva too. I never said anything but you…. You send her to college but not me I worked after I finished high school. I supported our family. I never used a penny that I earned from the hard work I did.

 You took all of my money and gave it to Eva and spend it on her fees, I did not say a word. You never bought me any clothes and I always wore Eva’s old and worn out clothes I didn’t say a word but now this….how can you do this….?’’

 I asked my mom. I was broken. It felt like someone stabbed me hundred times in my heart. No, it was more painful than that. I loved my family, what did they do? They sold me in return. I was trying to fight the pain and sorrow. I wanted to be strong but I could not. I was fighting the urge to scream and cry. I always wanted the love Eva and Charles got.

Dad was standing there silently the whole time. Dad is the one who loves me a little unlike my mom. He is the one who support me. If he was not here maybe, I have not even attended high school. He is the one because of whom I can live in this house otherwise, it is impossible with mom.

Callista-Dad, please say something. Please say something to mom.

I beg dad hoping that he would convince mom. I went to dad and told him do something. He looked at me with guilty eyes and nodded.

Peter- What are you doing Rica? She is our daughter, you cannot do that to her and she is not going anywhere.

Dad said to mom and a ray of hope rose in my heart.

Rica- Are you out of your mind Peter? Selena is threatening us to call the police. I have no other option.

My mom replied to dad. She was being a stranger to me right now.

Peter- But you cannot do this.

Rica- I can do this and a lot worse. I have no other option. 

I was shocked, mom was being so cruel why me why me always why not Eva and Charles.

Peter- Rica you cannot do that. 

Rica- Stop Peter. Do you want me to sell Eva then? She is our daughter for god’s sake. Do you want me to sell her then?

Peter- No I don’t. 

Rica- Then you will stay shut up. I am fed up with this life. After selling Callista our debt will be off. 

I was trying to be patient the whole time but I could not hold it in anymore.

Callista- Why mom? Why me always? Why do you treat me like this? Why do you love Eva and Charles more than me?

What did I do to deserve this? I am your daughter; do not do this to me. I listen to you every time. You did me wrong many times but I did not utter a word but now this... No, please stop for god’s sake. I always clean the house, cook and wash clothes. I will be a good girl but please don’t do this.

Rica-It is final. I have given my word to aunt Selena that you are going. 

By this, my tears were profusely running down my cheeks I could not believe my mother could do this to me. Didn’t she love me ever?

I was numb. My legs became like jelly. My cheeks were hot from crying. I removed my tears from the backside of my hand, sat on the floor, and held mom by her foot begging her not to send me away. 

Callista- mom, I will go but just tell me. What did I do to deserve this?  

Rica- you want to know, then OK. I will tell you. Yo..

Peter- stop Rica just stops. 

Rica- Let me tell her. I am fed up with her. Only on your request, I did not tell her anything earlier but now she is eighteen she is not a child anymore.

She glared at me and kicked me off her feet then she continued…

Rica- you are not our real daughter… we just brought you up nothing more…
