CHAPTER-4 MEETING FRIEND!!!

CHAPTER-4

I woke up because of a sharp light hitting my pupils. I blinked few times and my blurred vision cleared a bit. I was in an unfamiliar room, I tried to gather all my strength and courage and tried to sit up straight but felt a sharp pain behind my palm. An IV was attached to my hand. 

Lara-wait...wait I am coming. 

I heard Lara say before she came out of god knows from where, my vision was not that clear so I did not notice nor cared. She came by my side and steadied me up. I was feeling a bit dizzy. 

Callista- What happened? Lara, why I am here? Moreover, where am I? 

I asked her, as this place was not familiar. 

Lara- will you enlighten me and tell me when did you eat last? You fainted and you are in my side room in the shop.

She folded her arms across her chest and asked me. 

Callista- I think 2 days ago. 

I replied and sheepishly smiled. I know she will be angry with me now. 

Lara- Do you know how weak you have become? You fainted because you did not eat anything. You are weak C. You should have come to me. Why are you so obstinate? I am not broke yet. I can feed you until you find a job. 

She frowned and glared at me with anger. I know she cares for me a lot but I did not want her to worry. She glared at me one last time before she left the room and closed the door behind her. I heaved a sigh and rested my head at the headrest behind. 

It has been few minutes since Lara left and I started feeling sleepy again. The door creaked open and came Lara inside. 

Lara- Hey sleepyhead, wake up. I brought you food. 

Lara placed pasta and orange juice on the table besides bed.

Callista- you do not need to do that. I am fine, Lara. Do not worry. 

I told her and placed my palm on the backside of her hand. She pulled her hand away and looked at me with eyes that were filled with disappointment. 

Lara- Do you not consider me as a friend anymore. C, you hid from me that you did not eat anything. You are in trouble its clear to blind. Are you hiding anything if you are its better you tell me otherwise you should forget I exist! It is already second time that you fainted while with me. Who knows how frequently you starve? Are you in trouble? 

She asked and started to leave the room before I stopped her. 

Callista- okay, please wait. 

She glanced at me and heaved a sigh before she sat by my side. 

Callista- My mom is selling me off a.. 

Before I could continue, she shouted aloud. 

Lara- What! What did you say? How can she? 

Callista- Listen to me first and then talk OK. 

She nodded her head and I continued. I told her about everything.

Lara- I do not know what to say anymore C. Your mom is a real bitch, Hell she is not even your mom then why are you with them. Just come to me. We will do something together. You can live with me anyways I live alone and later, you can find a job. 

Callista – What about dad? You know he is in debt and I do not want him going to jail. He really loved me even if I am not his daughter. 

Lara - I know C but letting yourself sold off is insane. How much does he owe? 

Callista- five hundred thousand dollars.

I replied hell sure she cannot help me, it is a big sum of money and I have no other option. 

Lara- I do not have that much money on me C. but we will figure something out. Do not go anywhere. Stay here if they will not find you Selena will leave. 

Callista- I will be OK Lara. Do not you believe me? 

Lara- I believe you C. but I do not believe others. Who knows what will they do? You know what! I do not want to argue and that is final you are not going anywhere. 

Lara ordered me sternly. I finished my pasta and orange juice and placed the empty utensils on the table. 

Callista- I will escape as soon as possible but now I do not have another choice. I need to do something for dad. Otherwise, who knows what will Selena do? 

I told her, stood up, and made my way to exist. There was not much time before they arrive and pick me up. I needed to get ready. 

Callista- I am going Lara. Meet you soon.  

Lara- Are you deaf? Did not you listen what I just said? 

She shouted and threw both of her hands in the air. 

Callista- I will be okay. I will call you, OK? 

Lara came running where I was standing and wrapped her hands around my shoulder, hugging me tightly. She had teary eyes so had I. I patted her back, gave my farewell, and left with reluctant mind.
