The Guise Session

She could feel the chill of the leather couch cushion through her blue jeans, while it didn't bother her as it once would have she could still tell a difference.  It was a bitter reminder of the long, cold nights that she spent awake and alone with her own thoughts. The eerie quiet between her and the man behind the desk matched the still air of the room

The male figure behind the desk was intently reading and flipping through the pages of her notebook.  He stopped and flopped the notebook to the other edge of his desk towards her.  He looked up at her and waited. She battled with the stark emptiness that she felt deep within her own psyche as she mustered up an answer for him.

"I feel alone, abandoned, I suppose." She said taking a deep breath.

"Is that all?  Is that the pain that you are describing here," said the counselor, pointing to the journal that lay open between them.

"Well, it’s not like I can change what happened.  What's done is done," she said closing her eyes trying to stop the tears from falling down her cheek.  She wished that she could bring him back.  It tore at her soul, not just her heart.

"Don't contain the pain that you are feeling. You are doing something to change yourself and the situation by coming to me for help. That is a start. You can't expect everything to change within a minute or even an hour.  It does take time. All this didn’ it happen at once, it all happened over a matter of time" said the dark haired gentleman sitting behind the desk.

"Yeah, yeah, it's not like I haven't heard that before. It's not my fault, and blah, blah, blah," she stated in a mimicking, sarcastic tone.

He sat back in his seat and crossed his arms; he looked at her with his dark eyes, penetrating through her hardened outer shell.  She looked over at him trying to read him which was useless.  He kept hemswlf out of any bright light so that she could make heads or tails of him, his reactions or facial expressions, but no nothing just a darkness across what should be his face.  She then looked down shameful, defeated, like a scolded pup.

"You came here for help, but with an attitude like that, you're not going to get anything from it," he said coldly.  He stood up from his chair letting the tips of his fingers rest stop his desk.  She jumped with a start on the couch, her dark curly hair shook with her movement, falling down onto her light blue sweater and the soft curls of her bangs tremble alongside her face and across her forehead.

"What help you are," she retorted.  She mustered the nerve to stand up to put her knee length leather trench coat on. She had her back to him, but could tell before turning around to stare at him that he was watching her from behind his desk, arms crossed and looking right through her to a part deep inside that she didn’t let many she knew have access.

"Well?" she questioned as she turned around and grabbed the notebook from the edge of the desk slapping it closed.  She buttoning up her jacket and slid on her gloves She paused looking at him, measuring him up, trying once last time to get a reading of him.  Her powers were still fresh and she didn't have a controlled grasp on them.  She frequently tried the basics that Jaxon showed her, but to no avail with this guy.  As if he read her mind his body shifted towards her.

Yes?" he replied firmly and his side leaning against his desk, his body remaining rigid.

"No assignment next week or are you just throwing me out the door.  Like you should have after you meet me.  I'm just another one of those bum losers that you help, but I don't pay you.  So why waste your time on me, right?" she said slipping on her last glove and walking slowly towards the door.  She turned for her answer before she finally decided to leave.

"I thought we had agreed, Destiny, no secrets, he said a different yet familiar tone came from him.  He was careful with his voice as he said the rest.  Hiding your feelings is part of breaking the rules.  Your not even giving yourself a chance to heal.  As I see it, it is you that is running away.  Not only from everyone around you, but from yourself. It won't be just you that is hurting in the end, but others who love you. I am trying to help you, but I can only do so much when you refuse to tell me what is actually going on what you are thinking, feeling,"

He quickly turned away from her realizing he let his normal voice return.  He hoped she hadn't caught on, she was already showing signs of frustration.

Something in what he said and how he said it struck a very hard chord with her.  Why did that hurt so much?  She couldn't quite figure out the suckerpunch of emotions coursing through her mind in that moment.  She collected the rest of her things using that brief moment to wipe the trail of tears on both sides of her cheeks. There was still something peculiar about him that set her into a near heart pounding race with itself.  Likewise, his demeanor, resisting to speak about himself or his life, or even show her anything other than a vague shadow of his face aggravated her moreso.

He edged towards the window just a few steps from his desk, arms crossed as the lights of the big city lit part of his face making sure to keep the side that was lit out of view.

"I know you dream, I can sense it. Maybe you should write down your dreams, they could better tell me more what's going on with you than your own big mouth that gets you in trouble," he said smirking to himself.

She huffed at the comment and looked at the man in awe at his snide remark. "My, my," she replied thru a soft sniffle, still hurt from the earlier comment.  She used her snarky tone to hide the pain she was feeling.  Sarcasm was a comfortable blanket for her.. "What a jerk!"

"You know where I am at and when you can meet me, if you decide differently, Ms. Kizz," he said enunciating her name carefully and returned to the window.

"Fine, whatever," she said and opened the door slamming it shut as she left.

"What a woman," he replied letting out a breath he’d forgotten he had been holding since she walked in for their session.  He stood at the window barely out of sight as she got in her car, formerly his collectors edition mustang, and burned rubber out of the parking lot.

DestinyDestiny leaned against the frame of the doorway that lead into her father's home office. She raised her head to look down the hallway anticipating someone coming down it, but only shadows filled empty spaces that furniture, pictures, and vases did not preoccupy. She took several shuddering breathes to hold back an onset of emotions that lay waiting at the surface ready to explode at a moment's notice. Strained and angered voices could be heard in the office behind her even if they we're trying to retain some modicum of professionalism. She wondered why her mom wasn't home and where she could be. It was bizarre that she wasn’t home this late in the day. There was a loud thud and cursing in the office that had her quickly turning around to see the cause. Her personal attorney and father, a lawyer and statesman himself, arguing and Stephen sliding across the floor towards her. Her father had

JaxonKat turned into the long drive that sat between a stone walk wall that outlined the front entrance of the property. You couldn’t see from the front entrance any part of the house with all the trees that were place on the property. Once they got further along the drive the outline of the house was starting to become more apparent. The house itself, was not a house. It was more like a an olde english castle on the edge of a large city. Its architecture was magnificent in its own way. With the high arched steeples on either corner and curved, colorful plated windows in the front of the house and else where. But what made it such a modern palace was the three to two to even a single car garage randomly placed on the back and side of the house. From the looks of it, the living quarters were in the front of the house and upstairs, because the back and part of one side of the place was garage and parking spaces and lots of trees and shrubbery. It could almo

Jaxon and DestinyThe rain had finally stopped as they walked down the damp sidewalks stepping out onto the foggy streets. Destiny had pulled the camera out of the back of the van before they got in Jaxon’s ’65 jet black Shelby Mustang and headed to their destination. He still hadn’t told her what the phone call was about and she was becoming quite flustered. Looking over at him for the final time she decided to confront him about the call. “So are you finally going to tell me what we are going to be doing?” she asked hesitantly. He glimpsed over at her grinning evilly as he looked back at the road. “Wondered when you were going to ask me that question.” He looked again over at her quickly several times to see the pout upon her face from his smart aleck remark. &

DestinyDestiny had rushed from school to the gas station to review who was working and might look for changing out their schedule so she could get more hours. She’d brought in her book bag so that she could start on her school work before her shift; as soon as she entered the building she found an empty stall and threw her bag onto the table with a loud thump. She’d leaned back and stretched in the seat. It was a long day at school and she was rather behind in her studies at this point.Thankfully, she had a few minutes before work to catch up on some of her homework. She would also finish up the reading as she fixed supper once she got home. That was another thing, talking to her boss about an advance in pay for food for them and Devon. She pulled out her homework and with a long sigh began on it. It’s not that the work itself was hard, but there was so much of it to do and as the year progressed on bec

The Guise SessionsReturning to his desk, he leaned back in the seat and recollected what he had read in her journal. He knew she was good at writing her deepest thoughts and ideas vividly describing anything and everything. That journal, there was something about it, he just looked back with his photographic memory, he knew that there was something that she was holding back. He knew it had to be her emotional pain she was holding onto. She just wanted to spill her guts out and let all the pain and torture that she had been going through out. There was no possible way that she could do it, especially since she didn’t know him that well. She still ceased to trust him.He looked at the clock on the wall realizing that thirty minutes had passed; it was time for him to call Sean and inform him of how the meeting went. It was the usual routine, Destiny would leave and he would wait to make sure that she had enough time to leave to call Sean and infor
