Something's wrong

Beep beep beep!

I took the pillow I laid my head and swung it to the annoying alarm by my bed side. It fell on the floor with a thud, and from the cluttering sound I'm sure it broke. This was the third alarm my mom got me after she had had enough of me being late for school. I had broken all the alarms I got, I know swinging alarms off tables and breaking them was not right, but I had a very good explanation --  I hated alarms, especially when they disturbed my beauty sleep.

Why was the alarm ringing so early in the morning?  I thought to myself.

And then it hit me. Today was another school day. I lazily got up from my bed and walked over to my bathroom.

Usually when I cracked my alarm, my mom would come by my door and yell for me to get up, but today she did not. Maybe she was too tired.

I dressed up and did all I had to do then raced downstairs and grabbed my self some breakfast. I then got a message from Dan.

Hey dude, running late again? -- Dan

U know me:) -- Freddy

Just wanted to tell you about Carly. -- Dan

Who?! -- Freddy

Carly - my cousin. She's the girl u saw when u came to my house before school resumption day-- Dan

You mean, the girl that was giving me some weird looks at the party.-- Freddy

Yeah, but nah she wasn't giving u weird looks, she was staring and blushing at you.-- Dan

What about her? -- Freddy

Yeah, she's throwing a party at her house sometime soon and she asked me to invite you. It's going to be awesome you have to attend.-- Dan

Yeah, I'll think about it. Gotta drive now see u soon. -- Freddy.

See ya. -- Dan

I dropped my plate in the sink and then drank some water.

"Mom, I'm off to school." I shouted.

Silence.

"MOM!" I called out again, but there was no answer. Before coming downstairs I had checked her room and she was not there. Maybe she had gone out early for some work, she had been working pretty hard these days, sometimes she came late at night looking drained out and exhausted, I think her bosses may have increased her work load. I tried talking to her about not overstressing herself, but she would just shrug it off.

But...

... What if she was not at work, what if my father took her?

I immediately ran to my phone so I could try and call hers but a piece of paper that was lying near my phone caught my eye. I had not noticed it earlier when I was eating and texting Dan.

From the back of it, it looked like it had some words written on it. I turned it over and read:

Hey honey, I've gone out.

I'm sorry I didn't tell you,

I didn't want to disturb your

sleep. See you later.

Love, mom

I let out a sigh of relief. I really thought my father had done something. Just to verify it was her, I took a close look at the handwriting. It was definitely her.

I grabbed my bag, walked to my car and drove off to school.

Dan wanted to speak to me about football practice and I had not seen since school started. After the fourth lesson, I decided to go look for him. I really did not care about being late to the next lesson because honestly my English teacher was more of a bedtime story teller than a teacher.( she made everyone in class fall asleep)

I was walking in the hallways, and walked by Kylie and her squad who were giving me smiles, showing off their teeth and just blushing in general. "Hiiiii" they all said in unison as they waved their long manicured fingers at me.

"Hey" I simply said as I walked past them.

We were friends, yeah, and Brittany from their squad and Dan were always flirting with each other, but sometimes their smiles would just creep me out.

I found Dan, he was standing by his locker talking to someone.

"Hey hey." I greeted from behind Dan. He turned to face me.

"Hey bro." he said, he turned to the guy he was talking to recently "Talk to you later? " Dan said, the dude nodded and walked away. Dan then turned his face back to me. " What's up dude?," he asked as we did our bro handshake. " I can see coach's harsh exercises are increasing your body muscles man."

"Well yeah, with hard work and determination anybody can be toned like me. Well not exactly like me but somewhere there." I said and we laughed.

Suddenly I felt someone hit me from behind, I yelled at the clumsy person, " Hey, watch where you're going!"

I turned around too see who the person was but before I did, I fixed my shirt the dude pulled slightly when he hit me. After that I looked up to see him.

It wasn't a him, it was a her, and she was Anna... Ammal... Ame- something the frendzation girl.(I forgot her name)

"Oh its you."I said in realization.

She just stood and stared at me in horror like she was scared or something. And then out of nowhere she just ran away.

I had a laugh coming from Kylie's squad. I do not even understand what was funny, the whole running away thing was just weird.

I turned to Dan who also had a puzzled look on his face . "Wha... Why, why would she just run away like that." I asked, I was perplexed.

"I really don't know man. She's just a weird girl that was probably nervous to be standing in your presence." he said with a chuckle. But I was serious. I remember her and her friend telling me not to tell anyone about the frendzation program, I really did not care about that but now that she was running away from me made me wonder what the problem really was.

I just shrugged it off and carried on with my conversation with Dan.

I was now home after football practice. I got out of my car and slammed the car door. I just wanted to go and drown myself in some snacks and play some video games, football practice plus the exercises coach gave could really drain out much of your energy. I opened the door and saw my mom seated on the couch staring at the television. She had not even noticed I was in the house.

"Hi mom. You're home early today." I said as I walked to the stairs, my eyes still monitoring her actions.

Something was definitely up, she went to work earlier than she usually had been doing in the past few days, and she came back earlier than usual again. Not only that she looked like something was troubling her mind. I wanted to ask but like I had mentioned before I was not the touchy --feely girly type.

She suddenly jacked her head up and looked back to see me at the sound of my voice.

She rubbed her eyes and then stretched her arms out before letting out a yawn. She looked drained out."Oh sorry Freddy, i didn't know you were here. I was just thinking about somethings." she said in a low voice.

"Is everything okay?" I asked out of worry.

"Well, actually I wanted to speak with you. Can you come seat here for a minute. " she said.

I turned away from the stairs and walked to the lounge where she was seated. I sat down. I hoped she was alright.

She let out a deep sigh before speaking, " Freddy, I've been thinking about moving from this house."
