CHAPTER 11

For a moment, Brennan Lim was dumbfounded at the revelation that Jenny Gordon was related to Jacob as a cousin. Although she introduced herself as a Gordon, who knew if she’s only a poser? Or Jenny Gordon was only a name she used while modeling? He stared at the woman for the longest time and he felt bad for insulting her. Nevertheless, he wouldn’t apologize for what he did because he enjoyed it!

            “Sit down, Jenny,” Brennan ordered. “Don’t worry, Gordon. Your cousin is safe with me,” he assured Jacob Gordon who looked worried for Jenny. He couldn’t blame him. After all, his notorious lifestyle was famous amongst their circle.

            “I’m not worried about my cousin, Lim. I’m worried about you,” Jacob said and the only response he got from Brennan Lim was a raised eyebrow. “Jen, I have to go back to the office now.”

            “Go ahead, and please don’t forget to bring something for Stefan.” She reminded Jacob about it. She knew that Jacob wasn’t pleased with her treatment to his secretary but Stefan was the only person who was always honest with her.

            Brennan disliked the way how Jenny pronounced the man's name as she ordered her cousin to get something for him. Her eyes beamed with happiness and excitement and he hated seeing her like that. “Stefan? Who is he? Your new boyfriend?” Brennan asked angrily as if he has a relationship with Jenny. Although they have been seeing each other for two weeks already, it was only because of the deal that he made with her during their blind date. 

            Jenny rolled her eyes at Brennan and said, “It’s none of your business, Brennan.” The man had no idea that he was the reason why she and Tanner had a fallout. It happened five years ago when Brennan Lim approached her because of a dare he made to his friends. He asked for a kiss, and when she refused, he forced himself into her. It was late when she realized that Tanner witnessed everything. She insulted Brennan and slapped him, but Tanner was already gone.

            Jenny’s mouth gaped open at his inquiry. He must have read the article about her when Tanner lied to the media about her pregnancy. When she asked her friends for an introduction to a powerful man who could help her convince a lot of people to do business with Wolf Bank, she didn’t expect to meet Brennan Lim. “I don’t have a baby,” she replied honestly. Brennan Lim wasn't the first person who dared to ask her about the rumored baby or the pregnancy. Stefan asked her before, and Jenny giggled on her seat as she recalled Stefan's reaction that night. 

            “It must be the best choice back then,” he said but he was greatly disappointed that Jenny aborted her baby. She was not different from the other models he knew who were self-centered and a fame whore. As a man who was already in love with her, he wouldn't mind raising another man's child, but when Jenny implied about having an abortion, he was discouraged. 

            “I bet it was,” she said without thinking carefully. “Anyway, let’s not waste our time anymore. If you wanted to help in the first place, two weeks wouldn’t be wasted.” They had a deal, but Brennan kept on delaying his promise of twenty VIP clients for Wolf Bank. He agreed to help her convince his friends to become Wolf Bank's VIP client, and in return, she would spend a week with his daughter who looked up to her.

            “You’re an impatient one, aren’t you?” He teased her. “I changed my mind,” he said.

            Jenny glared at Brennan and she was almost tempted to pour the hot content of her mug to his head. “How can you change your mind? We had a deal!” She reminded him.

            “I haven’t signed anything Jenny,” he told her that whatever they agreed before could be changed.

            “Unbelievable!” She exclaimed while massaging the back of her nape.

            “It’s all up to you, whether to take it or leave it.” Brennan issued an ultimatum. He knew he was being unfair to the woman but she needed him more than he needed her.

            For a moment, she suspected that Brennan was only toying with her. “How can I trust you?"

            “Let’s sign a contract” he suggested.

         A contract would bind them together but Brennan has always been notorious. “Fair enough, but what do you want in return for helping me?” She wanted to know it firsthand because she refused to be caught off guard from time to time.

            “I want you,” he jested.

            Jenny spilled some of her coffee after his announcement. “Are you out of your mind? I’m not a whore, Mr. Lim!” She snapped at him and prepared to leave. Anyway, she wouldn’t mind if Wolf Bank would be forever dominated by men. Who cares?

            “Sit down!” Brennan hissed under his breath and scowled at Jenny.

            Like a child who was scolded by her parents, Jenny returned to her seat, but she stared daggers at Brennan for playing with her emotions! “I repeat, I’m not a whore!”

            “Fine, I get it now. Do you want to know anything about me?" He asked and stared at her for a few moments. "I don’t fuck with secondhand woman, Jenny.” He stated.

            What a pig! A secondhand woman? Did he classify the women in his life as a piece of clothing? “That’s an insulting remark for every woman, Mr. Lim,” she told him.

            “Are you insulted?” He asked.

            She had enough of his nastiness and without thinking twice, she kicked his groin under the coffee table. “That’s how I react to an insult,” she sneered at the man who tried to endure the pain without being noticed by anyone else in the coffee shop.

            Brennan suffered excruciating pain on his crotch but he felt like smiling at the brat who dared to physically attack him. He chuckled at the irony of it, and he questioned his sanity for allowing such a woman to treat him badly. Ever since their path crossed again on a blind date that their common friend set up, he couldn’t stop thinking about Jenny Gordon.

            “Shall I call for an ambulance?” Jenny suggested when Brennan Lim remained speechless on his seat.

            An ambulance to carry him to the nearest hospital would determine his fate and he didn’t like the possibilities of being replaced by her stepsister. His father threatened him that if he dared to embarrass their organization, the stepsister he hadn’t meet would take over! Brennan gritted his teeth as he endured the pain and mouthed, “NO!”

            “No? As in No? Hmmm, I agree with you. It will be embarrassing on your part,” she provoked him a little more before she gave him the handwritten contract she drafted after kicking him. “Just sign here,” she guided his hand where to sign, and when it was done, she offered him her famous wink.

            Brennan closed his eyes as Gordon’s warning echoed on his head. The man must have known how Jenny Gordon worked to get what she wanted. Damn it! He cursed over and over again after he read the copy that Jenny left her.
