Chapter 9

After the two hours of training everyone had went in different directions. Kilian disappeared into the basement followed by tons of banging. All three girls were complaining about their sore muscles. I went into the kitchen to prepare lunch and decided to find Helga and check in with her.

          “Hey there buttercup!” I said with a grin walking into her room, closing the door behind me. “I wanted to check in while the spy-demons are busy. How are you doing with everything?” I was trying to be upbeat but serious at the same time.

          “Mama, I really don’t know. I mean it’s a lot.” She stopped looking in her closet and took a seat beside me on the bed. “For some reason these boys coming here, well, it’s making me nervous. Like, come on. What if the guy is a douche-canoe?

I am stuck with him following me around school and everywhere outside the house for weeks?!” I could hear the stress in her voice as she was speaking to me.

          “I totally get it.” I said trying to let her know I could see her concern. “I wouldn’t want some weird guy stuck to me either. I can make a deal with you, if for some reason whoever Lex has you paired with is horrible, we can try to switch. I am sure there is some excuse that will work.”

          “I guess that works, I just don’t like feeling like I do not have a choice” Helga stated.

          “Great, anything else bothering you? I know you were joking earlier with the “slut” stuff, but do you need to talk?” I wasn’t sure what to expect.

          “Mama,” she said and took my hand in hers, “I am overjoyed that you have found him. I could always sense that something was missing with Dad. You are so lucky to be loved the way that you are. I know Dad will find someone eventually. Maybe he will be blessed with a mate or something. He has been so selfless our whole lives, he deserves it. But please do not think anything is bothering me. It is NOT Lex. He already feels like another Dad. It is just so much changing at the same time; I will be fine.” She smiled at me and I knew, if I never accomplish anything else, my daughters being the wonderful people they are, is enough.

          “I am always here if you need anything, just remember that. Thank you for always seeing the light in any situation. If you need me, I will be putting out lunch.” I kissed her forehead and left the room.

          Around 4:00 PM I went down into the basement to check on Kilian, he never came up for lunch and I was heading down with his food. I was shocked to see the improvements. Our basement had two rooms in it, one was finished with a pool table and a dart board over by the bar. The other side of the room had a multipurpose table, if we put the extension in the middle it could be used for beer-pong. The other room was supposed to be turned into a theater, but we hadn’t started on it. There was a set of bunk beds on one wall mirrored by a matching set on the other. They were just like the ones in the on-call rooms in the hospital.

          There were 3 dressers lining one wall with a small table and 4 chairs in the middle. The walls were painted a light beige and the room still smelled of fresh paint. I looked up to see the one small window letting sunlight into the room was open with a fan pointing towards it. Kilian had no shirt on and jean shorts hanging low on his hips. I set the plate down admiring him and took a seat in one of the chairs.

          “Don’t mind me, I am just here for the view.” I said to get his attention.

          “Why do you insist on sneaking up on me daily?” He responded taking the ear buds out of his ears.

          “Because that is what keeps you on your toes, and if you didn’t skip meals, I wouldn’t need to come find you.” I grinned at him as he approached me.

          “Come on love, how do you think I stay looking this good?” He batted his eyelashes at me as he grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug.

          “Ew, you are covered in sweat!” I protested.

          “You know you love it, remember how it feels…” He started speaking softly in my ear as he laid kisses down my neck.

          “What are you doing?” My voice was getting lower. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but I didn’t pull away.

          “I would like to know the same thing.” A deep voice said coming from the door.

          “Come on man, you know I won’t stop trying.” Kilian replied to the doorway.

          “I know you won’t. If she wants you, she can have you. But if you ever try to take her without consent, all of the gods together will not be able to stop the wrath that will come down on you.” Lex came into the room pulling me from Kilian’s embrace into his own. “I mean it princess; this is confusing and if you still need him too, we will figure it out.” His face was serious.

“What are you even saying?” Kilian voice was full of confusion. “You mean like we share her? I know you guys must have some weird connection, but you couldn’t possibly think that is a good idea.”

          “Honestly, I haven’t taken anything off the table. I know she still loves you deeply, and this whole situation has caused her much unneeded stress. All I care about in life is her happiness and safety. I have given it some thought, I don’t think it will weaken my bond with her, if anything it makes us stronger.” Lex had clearly thought about this in detail.

          “I am not capable of doing that.” I finally spoke out loud. My voice was soft, but it caught their attention. “I would always feel like I am hurting one of you, and that is the last thing I want. I won’t deny that this has been… complicated. I love you both, I have lived lives with you both, but I don’t think this is the answer we are looking for. We need to prioritize things, me taking on two relationships is not going to help things get done.”

          I needed to deflect. I have no idea what they are talking about, I do care for them both but that doesn’t mean that I want to have them both. Goddess just make these decisions for me please. I prayed in my head.

          “This decision is not mine to make my daughter, this life is your final life here, it will be different from any other.” The beautiful voice rang through my head. My eyes grew wide when I realized the goddess had spoken directly to me. Her words sent a reassuring heat wave over me.

          “Uh, Love, are you okay?” Kilian spoke first, his brow showing concern.          

          “Oh, yes, I am fine. Sorry, just getting used to some changes in my powers recently.” I answered vaguely and gathered my thoughts. “Can we all agree that maybe this is something to think about and we can discuss it later?” I smiled at them.

          “Anything Princess.” Lex said.

          “Of course, Love.” Kilian said at the same time before stepping right in front of me and bringing my lips to his.

          The kiss was filled with love and passion. His hot breath instantly became labored and he wrapped his arm around my back to pull me in. Lex still had his arm around my back and was holding onto me the whole time. I felt his lips touch the back of my lower neck. My body instantly gushed at the feeling of both of them touching me at the same time. I felt like I was on a cloud. Kilian pulled his lips from mine and a whimper escaped. It was quickly suppressed when Lex’s luscious lips met mine his short beard tickling my face. Kilian had moved to the other side of my neck and continued to leave little nips in between tasting my skin.

          At the same moment they both pulled back. I felt like I was freezing, all of the body heat that surrounded me was gone and we all stood a few steps apart from each other. I was trying to catch my breath, my face felt on fire.

          “See princess, this is about you. Just know that it is an option, I understand your attachment to him.” Lex reached out and touched my face.

          “Dido Love.” Kilian mimicked Lex’s touch on the other cheek and they both left the room.
