Episode 8 - Big Brother

Ava’s POV

Arthur just disappeared after getting that call, he didn’t even tell me he’s leaving and that’s making me angry. I know he might be having something important that needed to be handled but at least he can tell me he’s leaving or even a text could have been great. 

I decided to leave as I was pissed now but just when I was about to call for a cab, I got a call from an unknown number.

“Hey, this is Sam, Arthur has given me your number so that I can pick you up. Would you mind waiting for 5 minutes I am about to reach” He said and his voice has depth and comfort...

“I...I could have taken a cab, I don’t really want to cause any trouble..” I said as it would be really awkward with a complete stranger...

“That’s not a problem, please meet me at the exit of the building,” He said and the call got cut before I could protest so I decided to go and maybe I could get some information about why Ar just vanished.

Just in 5 minutes, I saw a black SUV on the exit so I moved forward to see if its Sam. A handsome man came out of that car and greeted me. Well, he was bulky and his muscles were bulging out of the grey suit he was wearing. He had his hair and thick beard perfectly done and with a smile on his face he gave me his hand, 

“Hey its Sam”, I Shook his hand but it was way too rough than Arthur’s. 

“Hey Sam, nice to meet you. It's Ava” I gave him a genuine smile and he took me towards the passenger seat and opened the door for me. I quickly sat and he closed the door coming to the driver’s seat when I asked, “What’s up with you guys? Why you all seem to open gates for ladies? Any secret Gentleman?” and he chuckled on that.

“Yeah miss the secret is manners and respect” I couldn’t hold back my smile and said “Call me Ava please” and he nodded.

“Is everything okay? Arthur just left without saying anything.” I asked him just to know if he is okay or not. It's weird that we just met and I started caring for him.

“Yeah its all fine, something important came up and his presence was needed immediately so he asked me to pick you up so that you don’t punch him when he’s back...” That made me laugh.

“Okay, I will not if he is that scared of me punching him” I was now comfortable with him. He just had a protective attitude towards me.

“It's ok you can if want you know, just make sure you do it in front of me so that I can have a great laugh about it” He sure is funny.

“Done deal” I said and he nodded playfully.

“Your car would be ready by 9 so I will drop it off and give you the keys. Plus if you need anything you can call me anytime okay?” He said reminding me of my brother who was just like him taking care of every single thing related to me.

“Sure t..thanks” my voice became soft remembering my brother, Jason was indeed the best brother anyone could have. He used to give me whatever I needed, whenever I was not in a good mood, he used to tickle me until I laugh my lungs out and comforted me when I felt like nothing was alright. I always had his shoulder to cry on as he was always there to listen and understand what I am going through. I still remember how he used to protect me from boys when we were in school and everyone recognized me as his little sister. I was proud of him. No No, I still am and always will be.

“Are you okay?” He sounded concerned.

“Yeah just that I remembered some old memories, my brother was just like you” I don’t know why I told him that but it felt great opening up.

“Consider me your big brother then,” He said and I can sense that he is not joking about it.

“Would love to...” I said giving him a smile as we reached my apartment.

“B..bye big brother” I waved at him.

“Bye, little one,” He said and drove away.
