"Any idea, Gaul?"

"Reinforcements should come!"

"No time," Jakob lowered the point with the hands, weapon pointed and held down between the legs. "Try to get out of the-"

Before Jakob could continue, he jerked his head to the right, narrowly avoiding a strike. He changes his stances, raising the blade up with his shoulders, and parrying three strikes from the attacker.

The light tinted glow on the attacker's skin made Jakob sure that it was an etherian. Attacking the Talos Machina with the Miss around was a pipe dream. Jakob thought of what choice he should make, but as he raises his blade over his shoulder, as if preparing to swing the blade, he thought of the future. If Ursula Louis could survive until her Ballet of Death, then what was the point of worrying about her?

If fate truly cannot truly be change, only adjusted, then let's see how fate would have it. He changes his stance once again, rotating his weapon down and to the side from above, preparing for an upward cut. As the etherian charges, Jakob felt time slow down once again, hearing only the beats of his heart as he carves the etherian from below the armpit, to the chest, and the blade coming out of the shoulder, bisecting the etherian. The vibrant blade in his hand hummed dangerously, as it loses power after slicing through two layers of etherian skin. Resting the point of the blade on the floor, he surveyed the stage, eyeing anyone that tried to move.

A bullet fired at Jakob. He raised the vibrant blade, blocking the bullet with the flat of the blade. He exhales sharply, masking the trembling of his hands, keeping his fingers wrapped firmly around the hilt of the vibrant blade. The Talos Machina moves, leaving Jakob to abandon his stances, rushing between the legs of the Machina.

He plunges the vibrant blade in the joints of the Talos Machina. Upon hearing the groaning of the Machina, he dive rolled to the side, swung his vibrant blade, and targeted the heel of the machine. The vibrant blade left a scratch, and seeing this he abandoned attacking the joints, clambering up the legs of the Talos Machine while trying to reach the core. As he clambers up, he caught a glance of Gaul trying to retreat with the Miss, only for debris to fall. The whole stadium was falling apart, people were being slaughtered, and the bodyguards dying with their guts spilled on the floor.

Running up the machine, throwing himself upward, catching a hold, and stabbing the vibrant blade on the side. Jakob continued clambering until he reached the core area. Focusing on the parts where it was vital. He started slashing at the armor plating of the machine, then used both hands to take off the plating armor. Seeing the reactive armor lit up, Jakob planted both legs and lunge like an uncoiled spring to the ground, rolling before his fall, and going for a sprint, landing a haymaker to a cultist.

Taking the firearm of the cultist, Jakob started shooting the rounds on the rest, using the body of the cultist as a meat shield, and firing on the shoulder. When the cultist fell he dived to prone, firing cracks shots at the enemy before running away from the Talos Machine that tried to target him.

Drawing the firefight to his side, abusing the slowing down of his perception, enduring the headache that comes with it. As Jakob runs, he slipped on the blood, hitting his shoulder on one of the seat. A cultist tried to pounce at him only for the said cultist to get punched in the throat and having Jakob's fingers crushing the cultist's windpipe. Throwing the cultist away with a swipe of his right hand, a bullet grazed Jakob's arm, the nanoweaved material teared down.

More of the Deckers came in and started going for Jakob. Taking a pistol from a cultist, he closed the gap, not allowing the Talos Machina to target him. He used them as shields and firing stands while robbing them of their weapons. Jakob lost himself to the bloodbath, and yet to Jakob this was nothing more than a daily occurrence in the coming future. A constant struggle that allowed even someone like him to watch the end of the world as the strongest etherians extinguish the last of humanity from the planet.

Changing his stance, he lowered his torso and used his fist and elbows. Punching their eyeballs, elbowing their throats, and grabbing them, smashing their heads on the edge of the seats or stairs. Though his fighting was beast-like, it was a style of fighting that focuses on killing. But even though he had reached peak human condition, the bullets tore through his nanoweaved suit, leaving him to use the fallen as his cover.

Vaulting through chairs, rails, and even using the cultists as stepping stones. Jakob made sure that the Talos Machine was focus entirely on him as he ran around the stadium. But as he continued dodging, the Talos Machine suddenly targets the Miss, forcing Jakob to run to the direction of Miss Ursula.

Forcing his muddled mind to slow the perception of the world, dodging bullets, using a broken weapon to block the bullets hitting his vitals, and shrugging the bullets that tore through his nanoweaved suit. Jakob forced his shredded body, throwing his fist and legs, not knowing that he looked like a demon to the others. Arriving on the Talos Machine, he clambered up again, and tore another panel near the core, pulling the vibrant blade out of the armor, and leaping down.

Breaking his fall by using the cultists as a cushion. Jakob stood up, brandishing his blade, and changing his stance, the blade's point pointed at cultist, his elbow straightened and shoulder slightly raised. Jakob started rushing in. He stabbed the first cultist near him and decapitated another. As he continued to tear through the deckers, an explosion rang, and the Talon Machine retreated from the stadium, firing shots at the reinforcements that came from skies, dropped by the flyers of Aured City. Taking this chance, he carved through the cultists that were attacking Gaul, who was the only one standing left.

"Let's go already!" Jakob shouted. Gaul didn't respond, only nodding before running to the broken parts of the stadium. Miss Ursula's face is drench in tears, her shoulders quivered, and her chin shook up and down. She widened her eyes at the sight of Jakob, placing her hands on her chest, saying. "Angela, she's still out there! Please find her!"

Jakob gritted his teeth, making Miss Ursula shiver. He turned around and then said. "You escort the Miss, I'll try to find Angela!"

"Please find Angela!" Miss Ursula said, squeaking out her voice.

"Take this," Gaul handed his sidearm.

He took the plasma shooter from Gaul. Nodding his head at Gaul, Jakob turned around and started running to the backroom where Angela should be.

The orbs of light hanging on the circular tower not far from where he was lighted Jakob's face. The veil of rain splits the lights. On the community, there was a group of people opening the hatches so that the floodwater whirls down the drain. From the second-floors of the buildings, there were men and women dressed in thick gray clothing.Jakob rested his back on the bench. He looked up. The flyers of Aured City numbered about hundreds a day. The city consumed fuel than any of the bastion cities. He had been ignorant of the world. Jakob did not have to know about the city. All he knows back then was how to survive a day outside of the city.Jakob clenched his fist. He had done something to change something. He did not know what it was that made things turned out this way, but he could not understand the empty feeling. The feelings he had while in battle were like momentary and fleeting."I really cannot do it," Jakob said. The rainwater was like spray hitting h

Jakob stood behind Helga. She wore a sharp business suit with a red tie. She had gloved her hands and tied her hair into a ponytail. She spoke to a man armed to the teeth. Though he looked intimidating, Helga did not show any stiffness or being overwhelmed. How could he, when Jakob was standing behind her with such an expression? The two talked for minutes. Helga shook the armored hand of the man and started strutting to the pad. The Karnifex was on the landing pad. Helga stood. She took out a cigarette from her pocket, lighting it up. She looked up at the Aured Sky."Just a drizzle of rain," Helga said.Jakob folded his armored arms. Helga snickered."You are getting used to that suit.""Hard to take it off when it seems like you are making use of me too much.""Can't help it, you are a good at what you do. Also, the Boss wants to personally make sure that my safety is secured."Jakob surveyed the area. The personnel from the buildin

  • The Outrider   Chapter 47: A Moment For Dona

Dona liked to mix drinks. She had become a better mixer than ever. It seems she had a natural talent. Helga had praised her drink, and when Jakob comes home, she would give him a stiff one that would ease his muscles. They had not done it for a long time, though she did not mind it. He was always full of thoughts and his mind would wander. Not that it matters to her as long as he comes home safe from his missions. He had become one of the terrifying people that Haven knew after his recent works, which made him quite an important person. Just by association, they treated her with respect. Dona knows she was riding on his coattails. It did not bother her that there are those who would call her hurtful words.Jakob was not someone who was a restricting person. For someone who started the relationship with cash, he was someone who did not bother too much about it. He was not a wasteful man. He was thrifty, and he liked to eat nutritional food with fondness. He acts like an

The first request that Karl made was to take back Gharasu and the steelfort. The government moved to prove that they are accommodating. T

The beluaman raises the ground, forcing Jakob to use the grappler stake to swing around the beluaman's attack, using the momentum created by the weight of the greatsword to hasten the swing. He turns around to smash the greatsword down on a 15m belua."Still alive, J," Helga called, "you are making Dona worry.""Got to buy time, Hel," Jakob flattened the greatsword to block a root spire. He grappled on the 15m belua, threw the greatsword, caught it, and pummeled a belua pouncing at him. Landing on top of a belua, he stabbed the greatsword's tip."Your suit is a mess," Helga said, "the amount of repairs it'll need is going to cost you. Nonetheless, the ether forge,

Her opinion towards humans were low. Anastasia will not work with these humans if she had the chance to do so. Blackwells changed her opinions of them. This time she had to admit. Humans were not as inferior as she thought. Their technology were keeping them alive. Even their medicine and drugs have started evolving. The suit this Outrider was wearing and the ability to lift her Blackwell's sword was enough to indicate.Still, it was odd in a sense that she did not see the usual side effects. He did not even take the usual syringes that one would take. Her and her Blackwells have been part of the many meetings and experiments. They share the burden of turning their fellow etherians into good soldiers. Therefore, she did not recognize any signs of modification other than the well-made exosuit. Deep in the swamp, hit by the rain, and surrounded. Anastasia kept her calm while pulling her Blackwells away. Blackwells conserved his energy. His eyes lacked light. There is an
