"I'll go down and see the progress of preparations" Selena said in a warm tone and walked out of Evelina's room leaving a sighing Evelina behind. Evelina lifted the skirt part of the gown and mumbled, "It is so heavy" Evelina sighed softly.
She knew it was going to be long evening that night and after looking at the footwear paired with the gown, she knew she was going to get a sore feet the next day. She then changed back to her former clothes which she was wearing the morning.
Her mobile started to ring gaining her attention; she picked up the mobile which was on the bedside table. She looked at the caller id and a small smile appeared on her face as she quickly connected the call.
"Many More Happy Returns of the Day Eva" an enthusiastic voice came from the other side of the line.
"Thank you so much Al, I thought you forgot me" Evelina said in an calm and composed tone but it held a hint of delight in it.
"As if I can forgot my only true best friend who abandoned me heartlessly, well then how is your day till now then" Albert asked in a displeased tone with a hint of sulkiness.
"I am not very sure how to describe it, like usual a grand banquet is being arranged but the people will be britishers instead of french citizens. I feel a bit alone as you are not there by my side" Evelina said in a defeated tone.
"Don't tell me my indifferent little buddy is finally missing my amazing presence by her side" Albert asked in a teasing tone, he then started chuckling softly.
Evelina was quiet and then sighed as she knew that she was indeed missing him but she was too prideful to accept it. She decided to keep quiet instead of lying against her conscious, Albert chuckled even more as he knew her answer.
"Hold on their little one, your Aunt Nova is dying to talk with you...ouch" Albert dramatically handed over the call to his mother Nova Delacour, who smacked him on his head for his exaggerative words.
Evelina on the other side of the line easily deciphered what happened on the other side as she knew them since she was three. The way they acted around each other was something she knew like the back of her hand.
"Happy Birthday sweetheart... May God bless you with lots of happiness and fortune this year" a motherly voice came through the other side of the call, which sounded very smooth and mesmerizing.
"Thank You aunty, your blessing means a lot to me" Evelina said in a genuinely polite and happy tone. She did not fake her acceptance as the person on the other side genuinely wished her goodwill.
"Dearie make sure to enjoy Albert's share of enjoyment as well on your birthday night. This is the first year you two will be apart on each other's birthday. Apologies, we wanted to come there but mine and your uncle's schedule did not permit it so we could not" Nova said in a regretful tone.
"Aunty, how can you apologize to me. I totally understand your situation, your wishes are what means a lot to me, please don't apologize to me in future that really makes me feel like a stranger to you" Evelina said in a calm tone with a hint of sorrow in it.
"Take many pictures and post it on Ig, I will enjoy your birthday from France itself" Albert said in a teasing tone making Evelina chuckle in amusement. She hummed in response and then disconnected the call after bidding goodbye.
She looked at the time and sighed, she placed her mobile back on the bedside table to charge it completely. She then walked towards the door which was adjacent to her room door, she opened the door and walked in to find her father inside.
It was the library as well as her father's study, it was connected to her room and her parent's room downstairs, It had a common entrance in the living room which was used by her brothers to come inside the library which they hardly did.
Oliver looked up from his desk and smiled as he removed his spectacles and looked at his daughter adoringly. Evelina smiled and walked towards her father as curiosity got the best of her, she went and stood beside him and peeked on what he was doing.
"This looks like the case you are currently working on" Evelina said as she read through its contents with ease. Her knowledge about the magical law was more than few average adults as she was trained about it since childhood and read a lot about it.
"You are working alone on it" Evelina asked in a surprised and concerned tone as the case was not so simple as it looked like. Oliver chuckled and nodded his head indicating he was not working alone on the case.
"I am working with the Head of Magical Law Enforcement, Harry Potter. You've heard about him right" Oliver asked in an amused and adoring tone as he was a proud father because his daughter could easily understand the intensity of the cases just by reading them which many Wizards failed.
"I did, he was the chosen one who killed Voldemort [Villain in the Harry Potter series]. His bravery is something I have heard about a lot from Grandma" Evelina explained her understanding about Harry Potter in simple and short way.
Oliver nodded in understanding, he smiled and motioned her to sit in front of him. Evelina nodded and followed his as per he requested. Oliver than pushed the file in front of him to his daughter who looked at him in confusion.
