"I'll catch up with you guys later," I tell my friends. They nod and begin to walk off and I hear Ava say "see you in RS" before she goes out of earshot. James motions me over to follow him down the corridor. "Hey you," I say as we begin walking. "Hi Ari," he replies, stiffly. He's being quite quiet and a little hostile and that's pretty unusual for him. "So it's our two year anniversary two weeks today," I remind him, trying to start a conversation. He scratches the back of his neck, avoiding eye contact. "Yeah." "Are you alright? You're not being your bubbly self. We stay like this for a while, me crying and Ava just letting the mascara-stained tears drip onto her blouse, holding me in a comforting manner. This is one of the many great things about my best friend, she's always there for me no matter what, through thick and thin I can count on her. Once I finally finish, I wipe away the remaining tears with the back of my hand and look up at her. "Are you okay now, Ari?" I nod at her. "Yeah, I feel better now. Thank you, Ava." She smiles at me. "Anytime. Ari, don't waste any more tears on him, he's not worth it." But he is.  I wish it was that easy. I wish I could just not feel anything for him anymore. I wish I could just move on. But it isn't and I can't. "Ari, I know it's supposed to be movie night tonight but I'm sure the guys would understand if you didn't want to do it." I shake my head.

His eyes are fixated on me and it feels like they are piercing through my very soul. "What did you say?" he asks, surprising softly for his mood set but the anger behind his soft words is obvious, giving them a threatening edge. I'd never admit this to him but Mason can be a hell of a scary guy when he wants to be. I feel myself shrinking into a corner as he gives me that look that says 'don't you dare lie to me'. "I said that James broke up with me." He takes deep breaths, trying to calm himself but it doesn't seem to be working very well. He very slowly turns to Ava. "You knew about this and didn't tell me?"
