CHAPTER TWO

Camille smiled and closed her eyes.

‘’No picking’’ I warned and she giggles. I opened the black velvet box, as I took out the shimmering bracelet and put it around her wrist. I got up from my seat and put the sparkling necklace around her neck.

‘’Open your eyes’’ I said softly.

She opened her eyes and gasped in shock, as she touched the expensive accessories tears watering in her eyes.

''Oh, Andrew there beautiful'' she cries, as she delicately touched the glittering diamond necklace and bracelet.

‘’Thank you I love them’’ she said quietly.

I nod.

Her scarf got blown away by the wind, it got caught in some bushes across the road.

She let out a small gasp. ‘’Oh no my scarf’’ she said sadly. I got up from my seat.

‘’Don’t worry I’ll get it.’’ I ran across the road a car nearly hit me and Camille stood up in fear.

‘’Be careful Andrew!’’ she shouted across the road.

I got hold of the scarf before it could blow away.  I waved it in the air like a victory flag.

‘’I got it!’’ I yelled.

Camille smiled and left the sidewalk path.

''Am glad you got it, my hero-

Out of nowhere a car crushed into Camille, she fell to the concrete floor bleeding.

I ran across the road and took her in my arms.

‘’Camille!’’ wake up don’t do this to me I pleaded.

I caressed her cheeks’’ my love please wake up’’ I whisper,

A crowd began to gather watching the accident scene. Without wasting much time I carried her in my arms and rushed her to the nearest hospital.

‘’This whole situation was so overwhelming’’ how could this happen so fast especially to my Camille? As I questioned myself.

I kept pacing around the hospital corridor anxiously waiting.

‘’Shit!’’ I bashed the wall in deep thoughts. I recalled how it happened.

‘’I forgot to inform everyone’’ I mutter.

I reached in my pockets and called my mother, by the time I was done narrating the accident I broke down in tears.

''I feel like it's all my fault… I sob tearfully.

‘’I could have done something to save her, but I failed miserably.’’

After calming myself down I told my mom the address of the hospital. I hung up feeling frustrated I smashed the phone across the wall.

‘’Sir please calm down’’ pleaded a nurse.

‘’This is a hospital you’re scaring the other patients’’ she said angrily.

''Oh, you think I don't know'' I taunt.

''In fact, I don't give a fuck about the other patients I just want Camille to be fine do you get me? I shouted.

The nurse nodes quietly.

‘’But sir just calm down the doctors are attending to your wife am sure she’ll make it’’ she says sympathetically

‘’I hope so’’ I mutter sadly.

An hour later the family barged into the hospital worried and anxious. They saw Andrew and rushed towards him.

‘’Son’’ Katie calls, as she embraces Andrew. She releases me ‘’how is Camille holding up? She asks worriedly.

''Yes, Andrew how is my daughter? Cassie cries.

I sigh sadly. ‘’She’s still in surgery and the doctor hasn’t particularly said anything useful to me.’’

''Oh, my son doesn't get like this let's just pray that God protects Camille from any harm.''
