CALLUM WOODS POV
I don't remember what it's like to not feel broken.
I glanced at the girl as she walked away with her pet raccoon. She was the first person to stand and listen to my song. I picked the money in the guitar case and returned the guitar into the case.
I felt kind of embarrassed that she gave that much money like I was some charity case. I picked up my guitar case and walked home. I hope Papa isn't strangling Mama again because this time, I'll do something we'll both regret.
I opened the door and was greeted by emptiness. The TV was gone, everything useful in this house. Mama laid on a couch, looking unto space with silent tears falling from her eyes.
"Mama." I called and she stared at me and tried to sit up but couldn't. I rushed to her side and knelt next to her.
"Mama what's wrong?" I asked but all she did was to pull me closer and cry into my chest. I also noticed that dad wasn't sitting on a couch and drinking.
I ran my fingers through her hair and cringed when a piece of her hair fell off. I bit my lower lip to stop myself from crying and continued to pat her hair until she slept.
I stood up and got into my room. I gasped at the mess.
"No, this isn't real." I whispered. Everything was a mess, trashed and broken. I glanced at my wardrobe and ran to it. I searched for my savings box and didn't find it.
"No!" I cried out and searched everywhere for it but couldn't find it. I slid down my wardrobe door and buried my face on my knees, crying. I had my college savings in there. I saved so I could get mom away from here. I got up in anger and stormed to the living room.
"Where is he? Where the hell is that bastard?" I screamed and mom opened her eyes as tears fell from them.
"He's gone Callum. He took everything, said he's getting married to someone who's richer and sexier and not sickly than I am. He took all my money and yours Callum." Mama cried and I stood there frozen. Nothing could justify how pure evil he was. Thinking of what I was supposed to do now, I went back to my room and sat on my empty bed. How was I going to pay the bills? Mom lost her job and she's really sick. How was I supposed to pay mom's chemo bills?
I got up and made my way to the bathroom. I got into my small bath tub and took my blade from the top of the sink.
My heart started to beat fast at a pace that my mind could not comprehend. I beated so fast yet I felt the air around me growing heavy, deficient of oxygen, deficient of a father.
Father.
I laughed at the bitter word.
YOU ARE WORTHLESS
NO ONE WILL EVER WANT YOU.Those words kept haunting me every minute. I can hear him whisper them in my ear as he brings his fist down with such force that it leaves an imprint on my face. Not even Todd would beat me like Papa did. I could see him hurt Mama. My pale fingers wrapped themselves tightly around the cold metal and I found myself smiling in pain as I slit the blade slowly against my skin, the blood flowing of my skin and the pain making me chuckle. I was used to this.
I dropped the blade with shaky hands as I turned on my tap and rinsed my wrist numbly. Though it hurt, I wouldn't let it affect me.
I got out of my bath tub and wrapped a piece of bandage around my wrist. I had to look for a back up job. No one around here liked me because my father was a cause trouble.
I could go to Hickory Homestead farm and join those Laborers in picking fruits for the owner.
The thought of things I would do to get money ran through my mind as I laid on my bed and gave in to sleep.
What a mean evil bastard!
What did you guys think of this chapter?Warning: gory/violent scene. Read at your own risk.Don't underestimate short girls, we are more evil 'cause we're closer to hell."That's right fucker, be scared all you want but don't waste your fear, we still have some unfinished business." I told him and his lips trembled much to my pleasure. This was want I wanted. His mind unable to think straight because of me. Because of what I was capable of doing."You k-k-killed a married m-man and his 4 year o-o-old child," he stuttered and I rolled my eyes. Out of all things he could use to remember me was this."The man was annoying the hell out of me and he should have known not to bring his daughter into my rubber room or should I call it padded cell when he wanted to do his therapying." I told him with quoted fingers and his e
"I'd like to see him first," dad said with his hands akimbo and I rolled my eyes at his style of being the strict father."He can be very shy." I whispered and dad gave me a questioning look. I sighed and went over to open the door, ignoring Aunt Lily's teasing whistle. Uncle Levi on the other hand was holding a shot gun in case he needed to shoot the guy. His words not mine."My crazy family wants to see you." I told him and he exhaled in fright and rubbed his shaking hands together. He looked really good in a white long sleeved shirt and jean. His hair covered with a black head warmer. He came in and froze. I glared at Uncle Levi who pointed the gun to him. He grinned in happiness, and lowered the gun."I heard you're taking my girl out on a little trip?" Dad asked and I rolled my eyes. Ginger flinched and nodded slowly.
Life's a bitch. You've got to go out there and kick some asses off."Was it Todd that gave you the bruise on your eye the first time I saw you?" I asked him and he looked away from me. I had been dreading to know if it was Todd ever since he told me he was used to more pain. I needed to know if he was abused by someone else too, or only bullied by Todd."Yeah," he replied but I could tell he was lying. He changed his voice and became still. He avoided eye contact and blinked rapidly. His chest rose and fell in a fast pace. I knew it wasn't going to be easy for him to tell me, but I needed to know. I needed to be there for him."Liar." I drawled slowly and he shook his head and balled his fist. I was infuriating him so he would tell me out if frustration. I would do anything to get the truth from him."
You can't do epic shit with basic people."Don't you have a place called school to go to." I heard dad knock on my door and I sat up with sleepy eyes. I stared at the wall clock and my eyes widened. I had few minutes to be at school. I got up instantly and rushed to my bathroom to have a quick bath. My hair was really tangled so I did my usual rough double dutch braids.I dressed up quickly and picked my bag. I didn't want to disturb Storm who was still asleep so I rushed out and went to the refrigerator to grab a granola bar."Here take this. I hate high school lunches, it's gross." Uncle Levi said handling me a paper bag. I threw it in my backpack and ran to dad's garage. I climbed on my new bike, fixed my helmet and drove out of the house.I got to the school and parked it at the students pa

When everything is lonely, I can be my best friend."How did you..." I trailed off when he looked back at me and turned front, hugging his knees and playing with the water. I knew I was lying but I needed to cheer him up. He was better off not sad."How did you know?" I asked again after clearing my throat. I folded my arms and watched as Storm began to play with the plants."You're so noisy for a stalker. I could hear your footsteps and heavy breathing. Plus you don't need to act dumb, it's not required," he said and I rolled my eyes and sat close to him, hugging my knees too."So..." I trailed off and he glared at me. The swell on his eyes had reduced and the color was now a shade of purple. I smiled at the blue shirt he wore. We kind of matched."I told you to st
