Chapter 3

Mayleia's Point of View

The numerous and loud knocks on my door woke me up. It's been two days since I was confine here in the hospital, and in those days, I seem to get better. My coughing had stopped and my mom didn't came to visit me, cause she flew again to other country for her business, and I guess she's still mad at me.

With my still sleepy head, I stood up to open the door and who I saw woke my whole system! Oh damn! Why is he here? For a moment, our gazes are locked up to each other when suddenly, he smiled and although it makes my heart skip a beat, it makes the flower grows too. That's weird.

"Good morning, Leia." he said still locking up our sight. Confused if I was just dreaming or not, I pinched his face. "Ouch! What was that for?" he asked so I slapped my face a few times which makes him more confused of my little dumb actions.

"Hey?" he flicked my forehead. "I'm here." he said and enter the room I am in, fixing the fruits he brought on the table beside my bed.

"Uh..Kaede?" I called his name just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. He looked at me, with a smile on his face. I stiffened. Am I really seeing this for real?

In a second, he held my hand motioning me to go back in bed and rest. "You're not suppose to be doing so much things." he sweetly said and started peeling off some fruit.

"Kaede...why are you here?" with still the shocked face I've got earlier, I asked him. His gazed didn't vary. "Because, I want to see you." he non-chalantly said while slicing the apple.

"What do you-"

He cuts me off when he suddenly put the slice of apple in my mouth. "I came here to see you, since it's Saturday." he said again, and it makes my heart flutter however my chest kept on tightening but I didn't show him that.

"Why would you-do that?" I paused a little when he tried to give me another slice again but I stopped him. "Hmm..because, I was worried. You've been here for two days. I guess my day wouldn't be complete without the girl who kepts on staring at me the whole time but won't have the courage to talk to me." he said with a sweet smile and teasing eyes.

I smiled too and gazed away. That's embarrassing! "I guess, I'm kinda shy." I said. He chortled and ate the other slice of apple. "Not to other people thou." he pointed out again.

I covered my face using the blanket and lied down turning my back on him. I heard his low laugh and keeps poking my back.

"Hey-when will you be back to school?" he asked. I woke up again and faced him. "Hmmm, maybe this mon-ahh!" I exclaimed as I felt my chest so much in pain.

He quickly came near me to assist me, "Are you okay? What's happening?" he worriedly asked. I was about to answer him when I coughed a few times again as the petals of rose came out from my mouth causing him to step backward.

My bed was covered with blood together with the petals, and tears just flowed down from my eyes. "Leia..." his tone was blank just like how it always sounds.

I looked at him and my stares seemed to startled him. I reached for the tissue beside me and wiped off the blood on my lips, jaw and hands. I also wiped off my tears and looked at Kaede.

"You can go home now." I said and stood up to clean myself up, but when I was about to walk out he held my arm. "I'm sorry." he said and looked down. "I'm sorry for acting like that. I'm just...shocked." he added, still holding my arm.

I looked at him. Confused as I was, I removed his hand off my arm, "You don't need to do this, Kaede." I said and smiled genuinely and walk out already.

I straightly go in the washroom and locked myself there letting my tears out. I sat down making everything I could to prevent my sobbing to be heard, but no matter how hard I tried, it keeps on echoing around this four walls.

I stopped crying and wash myself. After cleaning myself, I went out and in mh great shock, someone blocked my way, he looked at me shyly and scratched his head.

"I'm sorry, I...heard you sobbing, I didn't intend to eavesdrop but I just heard it when I passed by, I-"

I cut him off when I smiled. "It's okay, just don't tell it to anyone, arraseo?" I said and laugh.

He smiled and looked at me, "Wow, you're so kind." he complemented. The hospital gown he's wearing didn't escaped my eyes so I couldn't help but to ask him, "Why are you here?" 

"Oh, well, I've been here for six months now." he answered and plastered a weak smile, thou sadness is still visible in his eyes. "That's quite long, what's your illness?" I instantly regretted that when his smile faded, "I'm sorry, if I speak too straightforwardly, I'm just used to it." I apologized.

"No it's okay. Hmmm, by the way, I was diagnosed with cancer, and it wouldn't be too long for me to stay on this world." he said with sadness and relief in his voice. I can't help but to look at him with pity in my eyes.

"I'm sorry t-"

"LEIA?!" someone yelled before I could even finished my words. When I looked at my side, I saw Kaede and Allerick together with panic in their eyes. 

Allerick ran towards me first and pulled me closer to him giving me a hug, and that freaking confused me. "Are you okay? What happened? Why are you here?" he repeatedly asked as he broke away from hugging me.

He looked at the guy I was talking to before they came, "Grant, what are you doing here?" Allerick asked the guy and Grant just casually answered him.

We are now back in my room and the Zevida brothers are still with me. "I'm sorry Leia, but I don't think I can discharge you." Allerick stated. "Why?! I thought I already can?" I cried out. 

"Leia, Kaede just told me what happened to you earlier." he said causing me to look at Kaede but he gazed away. "You have to stay here a little longer, and don't!...ever leave your room without us knowing!" he exclaimed that confused me more.

"Why? Do I have to tell you everything that I'll do?" I disbelievingly asked him. "Yes!" he hardly said and walk out with his younger brother following him leaving me here alone again.

"Why the fck are you here Kaede!?" Allerick yelled at his younger brother who is looking at him mischievously. Kaede crossed his arms and lean on the wall, "Hmmm, my dear older brother is so worried in her very first patient of hanahaki disease." he teased Allerick. 

The latter glared at his younger brother, "What are you talking about?" he asked. "Oh c'mon Al, I know you've been checking her since you saw her in our freshmen recognition." that hits him.

He stopped going through the files of his patient and looked at his brother. "So what are you trying to say?" Allerick asked. 

"You like her, don't you?" Kaede directed it to his point and sat infront of his brother. "I can see through you Allerick, you like Mayleia." he emphasized. 

Allerick look down and heave a sigh. "Go back to her now, and just save her." he commanded.

"Tch, I guess you really do like her." Kaede said and stood up. "Allerick, we strongly resemble, and you're just 6 years older than Leia, instead of using me to save her, why don't you jusg do it yourself. Make her fall for you, just like how you did for her."

Kaede added and leave.
