"I'm just going to get something quick." Then he got out and looked at me again because I was still staring at him.
"If you really want to, come on." I took off my seat belt, got out without saying anything and followed him into the house. There were two flights of stairs in the hallway, one up and the other down.
When he went to the stairs that led down, I was astonished.
I followed him. When he got downstairs, he went to the last door in the hallway and I heard him pulling out his key. He unlocked and went inside. I followed him and closed the door behind me. We stood in a long hallway.
He turned to me.
"I'll be right back." I nodded as he walked on and finally disappeared behind a door.
I look around. Next to me was a large hook on the wall where a jacket hung. There were two pairs of shoes underneath, both of him. There was a broom beside one door and a moving box in one corner. A large mirror hung to my left.
A few paces away from me was an old little chest of drawers on which, as far as I could see, was a pile of mail. Then there was a flower vase with no flowers in it and a handful of lighters in a silver bowl.
When I wanted to look further, my eyes fell on an overturned picture frame lying on a dresser. I walked up to her and picked up the picture frame to look at the photo. I don't know why I did this, but I felt such an urge to do it.
When I picked it up, I recognized Nick with a woman in the picture. She was pretty, had blonde almost white hair, was slim and had great make-up. She smiled. She was sitting on a chair and had a cropped, bright red top and white shorts on. No shoes. Nick stood behind her and had his hands on her shoulders. He didn't smile.
I would say the woman was Nick's age.
That's when I remembered what Jess had told me. This woman was definitely his ex-girlfriend, I was sure of that. But why did he still have a photo of her?
And why was the photo tipped over on the dresser?
If he didn't want to look at it, why didn't he just throw it away?
How long has it been there?
I heard Nick come back into the hall. I quickly put the picture frame back in its place. Hopefully he hadn't seen me with it.
A phone rang and he looked over his shoulder back into the room from which the ring had come. Then he looked at me and threw me his car keys. I was just able to react and catch them.
"Go to the car, I'll be right there." I nodded and left the apartment. It took a few minutes before he got into my car and was immediately in a better mood. He told me that his boss called him and apologized and thanked him. Now we drove to me.
In the evening at the club, I sat on the sofa in the back and rested my head on my arm. I looked around the club, bored. Jess came up to me and stood in front of me so that I had to look up at her.
"Jo?" I looked at her questioningly.
"Yes?" I answered her.
"What do you think of a change of location?" Now I was confused. Where did she want to go?
"How?" That was all I said to her.
"Nick lives near here." Yes, I already knew that today.
"And?" I asked her.
“He and Sven want to go to him and I'll go with him. There's nothing going on here today. ”I nodded.
"So are you coming with me?" I looked at her indecisively and shrugged my shoulders.
"I don't know." What should the four of us do with Nick and also: why didn't he ask me himself?
“Come on, it's definitely better than here. I was actually so nice and asked Lara too, but she wants to go home. So we run together with her for a while and then go on to Nick. ”It was a surprise that she asked Lara too, because she still couldn't really get on with her. Now Sven came to us.
"And are you coming?" Jess looked at me, so I nodded. Nick and Sven had only met last weekend because I had introduced them to each other. At first I thought Nick didn't like him, but I guess I was wrong. I had heard from Sven that they were together with David this week and then drove home together. Today they had talked the whole time. Jess and I put our jackets on and then walked out of the club.
Outside Lara was already standing with Nick and Sven. They smoked another joint.
"Are you finished?", Sven wanted to know and we nodded. Sven looked at Nick, who took another drag and handed it to Sven, who also took a last drag on the joint and finally turned it off.
"Come on then," said Nick, and the five of us made our way.
Lara walked with us for a few more minutes and then separated from us at the next corner. Her friend Ron stayed at the club with David.
As the boys moved on, I wanted to follow them, but Jess held my arm so I turned to her and stared at her, perplexed. She came to me, looked past me to the boys and whispered:
"I have to talk to you for a minute." I continued to look at her confused.
"What is it?" I also asked in a low tone.
