Chapter 8: City of ruins Pt. 1

"Wait you mean the 'arthur'?! The one you keep on mistaking me for? What do you mean arthur..?" gabriela couldn't get the words out so ori did the talking..

"You see.. arthur was a king.. a king of thieves.. he wasn't some noble man who fought for peace.. he stole anything he could have his hands on.. but.. he was the nicest and most self-sacrificing person you could meet.."

"so.. you made me think that in this past life i was a hero king? look i get that but why tell me i'm arthur?"

"What gabriela told you that night was a half truth.. yes arthur wasn't your typical king but he was better.. he stole because he had something to protect and something to raise.. and yes.. those battles were true in a sense.. since he fought with guards and always managed to get away.. but this one.. the sword you currently hold is the last treasure he wanted to steal.. but.. before he could he was cursed.. he into a beast who killed everyone who was with him.. gabriela only managed to escape." oza stayed silent for a bit before giving his answer..

"Alright.. i got the gist of it.. so.. are you sure you want me to kill arthur?" he asked gabriela

"I-if possible i want to talk with him.. i.. i still need to say a few things.."

"And what if you're hurt? Listen he isn't normal anymore.. i either kill him now or he goes on and harms everyone else."

Gabriela couldn't decide.. she was conflicted asking someone to kill the love of her life was cruel indeed but in order to save others.. Oza needed to do what was necessary.. he approached gabriela and grabbed both of her hands..

"Listen..This is hard i know.. but he betrayed you guys although he didn't mean to.. he still killed all those people.."

"Th-then let me kill him.. please.."

"...Alright.." oza stood up and walked away but not before looking at the two.. ' This is cruel..' he turned and left.. he arrived on a cliff and sat down on the edge... ali then appeared and sat next to him..

"So will you really leave this to her?"

"Hmm? God no.. no one deserves to kill the one they loved.."

"So you'll do it then?"

"If i have to.. i'll do it.."

"You know.. killing this arthur even though he is a rampaging beast now.. you're still killing a human.. will your conscience handle that?"

"I don't know.."

That night oza couldn't get any proper sleep so he did some exercises.. and before he knew it was already morning he got cleaned up and met up with the other two.. When he arrived he saw ori frantically running around.. oza rushed towards him then ori seemed to notice oza and called out to him

"Oza!! Have you seen gabriela?! I can't seem to find her anywhere! And one of the wyverns are missing too!"

"Okay calm down! Get everything set we're headed to the city of ruins!" ori nodded and hurriedly got everything ready "That idiot.."

Oza and ori quickly got ready and hopped on the wyvern and headed towards the city of ruin presumably where gabriela headed of too.

"Oza you really think she would do this?"

"Yeah, But I didn't think she would actually go through with it."

"What do you mean?"

"If you saw how she looked when she proposed to kill arthur her body was shaking but her eyes were determined.."

Ori with nothing left to say stayed silent and they both hurriedly made their way to the city of ruin. The city was in sight so oza and ori landed just outside of it, upon landing they both checked their gear and headed off. Once they entered they saw a whole horde of scorpion like monsters..

"Oza! Go on ahead i'll handle the monsters here just make sure to save gabriela!"

"Alright!"

Without hesitation oza dashed towards the castle activating 'overkill' and started his slaughter. He managed to get inside the castle without using to much of his mana but then he heard a scream that echoed through the castle. Oza hurried towards the sound and killed the monsters that were guarding the place.

"Oza you've gained 3 levels would you like me to relocate your stat points?"

"Sure thing do as you see fit."

He finally reached the door and it was similar to the one back in the dungeon he then felt his mind stop as he had flashbacks of said throne room but with a calm breath and shaky hand he opened the door. Upon entering he saw gabriela squaring off against arthur who was half scorpion and half human. Oza examined his surroundings and he saw the throne room was thrashed and almost on the brink of collapse. He directed his attention towards arthur's name above his head..

Oza's thought was interrupted when arthur let out a vicious roar enough to shake the whole castle. gabriela was being pushed back by arthur who was giving her no time to react to his onslaught of attacks. Gabriela was putting up a good fight but arthur proved to be a much stronger opponent than she had originally thought, oza was going to intervene but before he could he noticed that arthur was charging up another one of it's purple beams and it was directed towards gabriela who was trying to catch her breath

Time felt like it slowed down as he watched gabriela helpless against such great magical power something in oza's body moved on it's own as he ran towards gabriela who was in a petrified state due to the fear of dying, oza had closed the gap between them in a short amount of time he managed to tackle gabriela out of the way as he took the hit head on barely blocking the attack

"Oza!!"

Oza could only smile as he heard gabriela calling out to him the enormous attack only grew stronger as arthur let out another roar. He felt his eyes grow heavy but he pushed through as he was blasted through multiple walls of the castle. His hp slowly draining but luckily the beam weakened and soon faded leaving an oza who was barely standing as he soon collapsed the only thing he thing audible was the distant sounds of footsteps echoing through the ruins
