10. I Don't Care About Y*u

Keira went to the presentation laptop and opened a spreadsheet file to fill in the data the budget department was explaining. It clearly has shown a different result than what was presented by the budget department; it was missing three million dollars. It was such a small error in the formula that gave them the wrong result; and it was just a small fraction of the whole project. She proceeded with all the mistakes that she noticed and a whopping total of fifty-eight million dollars was missing in plain sight.

Keira has such a way with numbers that she feels they are communicating with her if the computation done is wrong. She truly is a genius with numbers but her emotional intelligence surely needs some polishing. Like at this very moment where she feels that she is on a roll pointing out mistakes whether it is intentional or not; she does not mind it at all, what the other party is feeling.

"Here Ms. President; our company was about to lose fifty-eight million dollars in plain sight." Keira smiled at her Nana, who was glaring at Manager Leo wanting an explanation.

"Ms. President, I'm sure the new girl here is wrong," He looked at Keira and continued berating her. "How can you just draw conclusions like that with your computer, our staffs are competent certified accountants who have been working for us for a long time already; while you have not even attended a single accountancy class! How dare you!"

Manager Leo slammed the table in his rage-fueled rebuttal. While the accountants on his side are all staring at the floor, not wanting to make eye contact with the president who was staring intently in their direction.

"Manager Leo, you don't need to agree with my findings, one cannot just disagree with facts especially if its numbers, your accountants need to show how they came up with such numbers because I literally just finished showing you how it is supposed to be done." Keira was confident as ever, not intimidated at all by the manager in front of her.

"Ms. President, I want this woman out of this boardroom, I am a board member and I won't tolerate such an employee who spreads false information to make me look bad!" Manager Leo is now even more engulfed in his fury. He stood up and was looking furiously at Keira who was just smiling at him.

"I'm sorry manager Leo, but I never intended to make you look bad; in fact, I don't even care about you, not even a bit; I just can't stand wrong reports most especially if you're playing with numbers like that."

Keira was being transparent with her words, her Nana knows her well and her ability in business is clearly showing that she is such a good asset for the company.

"You are truly one of a kind Ms. Keira, I would like you to analyze all the data presented here today and meet me later after lunch to discuss this. All of the others please leave, only the board members shall remain."

Elisa smiled at Keira and then focused her eyes again on the board members. After the other employees had left the board room Manager Leo was put on a hot seat.

"Care to explain Manager Leo?" Elisa was tapping her fingers on the table waiting for a good explanation; or rather a good excuse.

"Well, Ms. President I will look into it, and promise to make a report about it." Manager Leo adjusted his ties as he felt like he was being interrogated.

Elisa smiled; it was a frightening kind of smile, the smile Keira inherited from her. 

"I want all the past projects to be submitted and to be sent to Keira for analysis. I want to make sure that this mistake is not something done on a regular basis. Am I right Manager Leo?"

He felt like the whole board room is judging him. His blood is boiling he wants to destroy Keira at this moment.

Keira's group went to their office and was still shocked at what just happened earlier in the board room, most especially the two girls. But Keira was all business; she left the board room with the files in her hand, as she immediately started to scrutinize every report. Thea and Jude were mesmerized by her abilities.

"I never knew a woman as beautiful as you can also be smart and eloquent like you Keira." Jude was trying to praise the woman in front of him.

Thea laughed at Jude; "Oh my dude, are you so used to the beautiful dumb girls that you so love truck at Keira at the moment? By the way, I'm sure such women would not even dare consider you as a date, right Keira?"

Keira was too focused on her job that she missed what Thea just said; she just assumed that it was something good so she answered the best way she thought was appropriate.

"Yes, absolutely; a hundred percent you are right."

Thea burst out laughing at Keira and Jude. Keira was puzzled if her answer was not fitting with her question, so she decided to lend an ear to Keira who was not yet done talking to her.

"If you need any help there, I am so willing to help you; you just saved our asses there in the board room I owe you my life for sparing us the trouble."

"Okay sure please help me with these, sort them by date so it would be easier for me to input the data"

Thea happily obliged and helped Keira, while Rebecca and Georgie went to their cubicle to retouch their makeup.

Jude, though embarrassed did his best to help out Thea and Keira too.

A few hours later, Keira had untangled a deep web of interconnected anomalies. She took note of everything she discovered, it could mean the life and death of their billion-dollar company. Could this thing also be connected to the death of her parents? Has her dad uncovered the same thing as well and met his death before he was able to expose it?

Keira kept her note carefully, she did not want Thea and Jude to have an idea since her Nana should be the one who would know first about her discovery. 

"Girls, I'm starving, can we go now to the cafeteria to eat?" Jude was proactively asking the two girls since his stomach has been growling with hunger.

"Sure, let's go"

Keira answered, but she made sure to safeguard her data before she left. Her dad gave her this necklace that had a pendant that could store information via Bluetooth. Keira is sure that someone from the other departments will try and sabotage her investigation because many heads will roll after she exposes the things she just uncovered.

When Keira, Thea, and Jude went to the cafeteria, Rebecca and Georgie went over to Keira's work station they sabotaged the papers she was analyzing. They purposely poured coffee on her laptop and the papers.

"Faster Georgie, let's get this over with and leave, I don't want to be implicated in this mess, if Manager Leo will get sacked off his position, my allowance from him will be cut off!" Rebecca was mad at the possible repercussions this expose will bring to her luxurious lifestyle; the lifestyle she clearly cannot afford.
