16. Welcome To Hell

 “Keira! Keira!”

Keira heard Mr. Watson call her name, she looked in his direction; he gave her the sign that she should get ready to come up on stage. As much as she wants to go to that man who looked like Stephen; the speech she is about to give is much more important. She went back to the venue as Mr. Watson was waiting for her.

Keira was so uneasy that the words her Nana is saying were just flowing from ear to ear; she could not understand a thing, but she noticed the crowd went completely quiet; then her Nana looked at her and encouraged her to get up the stage.

“Thank you, Nana, good evening ladies, and gentlemen; I would like to introduce myself to all of you again. My name is Keira Greene; and not Gray; I started working as a rank and file employee last year to better understand how the company works from the smallest employee to a managerial level. I would like to thank everyone who I’ve worked with even to those who I haven’t worked with but has the same strong opinion about me.”

Keira giggled; she was satisfied seeing the pale face of all the people who bullied her. Her eyes were wandering around tracking every bully that she encountered. But her eyes met the eyes of one man; and now she is sure; it surely is him.

He did not look happy when their eyes met, Keira could not help but feel hurt. She wanted to see him badly but why does it seem like the sight of her revolts him?

Keira looked away and continued with her speech. When she tried to look back in his direction, he was not there anymore.

Her Nana went beside her and took the microphone as Keira finished her speech.

“As I’ve said earlier this party will be set in history; because this is the first time that a turnover of the presidency will be done during the company party. With that being said, I gladly announce that Keira; my only granddaughter will be the new CEO and President of the company.”

Keira was smiling at her Nana’s announcement. She took the microphone and again gave her parting words with the employees.

“As the new CEO and President of our beloved company; I sincerely wish that everyone put in their best effort like how I’ve been doing the past year. That is all; please enjoy the rest of the night.”

Keira finished her speech and directly went to the exit; she wanted to go and head home early and rest already for she will be facing the company tomorrow as the new CEO. As Keira promised her Nana, she will now be staying in her own Villa at the mansion, they went home together.

“My dear, now that you are the head of the company; there is only one thing that I wish for you to do.”

“What is it Nana, you know I would do anything for you.”

Keira held her Nana’s hand to assure her that she got her back, they are the only Greene’s left in this family and she will make sure her Nana’s remaining days will be blissful.

“I want you to settle down and get married.”

Keira almost choked because of her Nana’s request, but she managed to smile and accept her challenge.

“I will someday Nana, I will give you great-grandkids as I settle down with the man I love.”

Her Nana smiled sweetly at her, feeling emotional she squeezed her hand and said;

“Please don’t make me wait for too long my dear.”

Keira could only smile at the old lady.

When they arrived home, she went straight to shower as she wants to have a balanced mindset as she starts her first day as the CEO tomorrow.

The next day, Keira went to the office in full battle gear. She was unmistakably the most beautiful Lady CEO there is, but what makes her more dangerous is the file on her necklace. The stored information on her personal cloud holds the biggest secret she has uncovered so far.

While walking towards the parking space, she held her pendant tightly thinking where could her father kept his necklace. Her father surely could have gathered more information than she could ever have, but right now she can use the documents she holds to throw out every corrupt manager and board members she knows.

While driving, her phone rang; she accepted the call via her hands-free earpiece.

“President. Keira, I will be your secretary from now on, please consider my services at your disposal with that being said what type of coffee do you like?”

Mr. Watson seems a little more at ease with her now compared to a few months back where he was so stressed out because his wife was terminally ill and his son was on military duty.

“I decided to ditch on my caffeine moving forward, only herbal tea for me please.”

As always Keira was polite to Mr. Watson, well at least during private conversations like this. When she arrived at the VIP parking space, he was already waiting at the elevator lobby bringing a lot of files with him.

When Keira reached the lobby, she saw Manager Leo who sneered at her as if he is not aware that she is the new CEO. Just because she is a young woman she is not taken seriously by the top managers, she smiled and spoke with Mr. Watson.

“Mr. Watson, are you aware that the managerial levels and subordinates call me the Lady Devil?”

Keira made sure Manager Leo heard her.

“Yes, Ms. President I am very well aware of that; do you want to penalize those who call you that name?”

Keira chuckled softly and responded in a serious tone.

“No, not at all; I actually love it, it defines me perfectly. Do you know why?”

“No Ms. President, why?”

“Because I have a list of people in my purgatory and today; I will drag them to hell.”

“ding”

The elevator opened, Keira and Mr. Watson entered the elevator first. Manager Leo was standing in front of the elevator, hesitating to go in or not. He bravely took a step forward; Keira laughed mirthlessly and in a serious tone said;

“Welcome to hell.”

Keira attempted to intimidate Manager Leo, and she succeeded without a sweat. His pale face and shaking hands were some things a bloated ego could not hide.

The moment Keira stepped inside their office she asked Mr. Watson for Thea; “The Devil’s advocate” the bearer of the purgatory list.

 She was browsing her laptop when Thea got inside her office, she looked nervous as she brought the files with her. She handled all of them for Keira.

“Wow, you’re done with the list already?”

Keira was amazed by how Thea surely spent a lot of time to finish her reports.

“No, this is barely 1/4^th of the list; there are too many pieces of evidence that it took me some time to compile them. I sincerely apologize Ms. President”

Thea was sweating as she did not know what to expect from Keira on her first day as the CEO.

“No need to Apologize, Thea, this is more than enough for today. I just want you to be discreet as much as possible and be always be on the lookout.”

Keira smiled at the new manager that is obviously not yet confident of her abilities. Thea nodded and went out of Keira’s office. Mr. Watson then came in, Keira noticed him looking a bit sad.

“Mr. Watson, here is the list; our agenda for the meeting later. Why do you look upset?”

He looked down and fixed his eyeglasses.

“Don’t worry about it, it’s just my son.”

“What about your son? Is he still single? You know I might want to meet him soon hahaha.”

Keira joked at Mr. Watson who did not seem to find her joke funny.

“Ms. President, I am embarrassed about this but my son thinks we are having an affair and that’s what is making me upset. He would not listen to me; he believes the rumors more than my word.”

“Do you want me to talk to him about it?”

Keira was willing to help out the troubled Mr. Watson.

“You don’t mind doing it for me?”

Mr. Watson was thankful for Keira who is willing to go the extra mile just to help him clear the misunderstanding with his son.

“Hello, Clarke?”

Mr. Watson’s son was not responding.

“This is Keira, are you there? Hello?”

“Yes, this is Clarke, why are you calling me?”

“Chill, you are too aggressive, I just called to clear things with you; I am not your father’s girlfriend.”

Keira was straightforward with Clarke, she wanted Mr. Watson to focus on work and this is the least she can do for him.

“I am not interested.”

He hung up after saying that, Keira could not believe how rude his son could be when he is the most polite person she ever knew.

“Mr. Watson, your son just hung up on me… he is so rude I’d like to marry him; so he’d be tortured for life having me as his wife, let’s set the date!”
