Chapter 11: I am Sorry

Sameer tried to call her back, but Mishty had already switched off her number by then. He knew he had hurt Mishty more than anything. Now, this fight needs to end before it turns into something vicious for their new married relations.

"I am sorry, Mishty. I really didn't mean that. You know that, right?", Sameer typed the message and was about to click on the Send button when his PA knocked on the door gaining his attention toward him.

"Sir, Our Investors are here.", He informed on which Sameer nodded and walked toward the meeting room. He felt that he had sent that message but in actual, it got saved as a draft. Since this project was important for his company, and also his first enormous project that's why he engrossed himself in it during the meeting because he needs to please these investors anyhow but while doing so, he didn't realize to check the time.

And, without his knowledge, he had already missed his flight.

Sameer was sure that he will get a positive response from the Investors even they left the meeting after saying 'we will consider it.' He felt like he was missing something and the moment his eyes landed on the clock. His eyes widened in shock.

'Shit. I missed my flight. God. It took off an hour before.', Sameer cursed himself inwardly. 'Now, Mishty will surely think that I did it intentionally.' Sameer tried to call Mishty to share this news so that she won't misunderstand him, but seems like fate was not in Sameer's favor because Mishty's number was still switched off. With a heavy heart, he dialed Mishty's father's number to break this news that 'I won't be coming today' as he had already checked there was no flight to Kolkata on today's date.

"What should I cook for a son-in-law? What does he like in food?", Mishty's mother asked, getting nervous because Sameer was coming to her house for the first time after Marriage. Also, He is rich & belongs to high-class people unlike them who have to think twice about spending money.

'I asked him not to come here. I hope he didn't take my words seriously. And what if he really won't come? Everyone in my society will taunt them, and they have to face many insults and embarrassment.', Mishty thought.

"Mishty? Where are you lost? I am asking something.  What should I cook for a son-in-law?", Mishty's mother broke her trail of thought, bringing her back to reality.

"Prepare nothing because He had just called me to inform me that he won't be coming tonight." Mishty father's answered the question of his wife before her daughter could have said anything. "Keep your mobile on, Mishty. Son in law saying that your number is switched off.", Mishty nodded and left for her room with an excuse that she is going to charge her mobile bur in reality she was trying her best to not to shed her tears in front of them.

"Is everything all right? Why is he not coming? Do you have any idea that all our relatives, neighbors, and those people who didn't attend Mishty's marriage want to meet with son-in-law? Everyone will start gossiping if they came to know that son-in-law didn't arrive tonight.

"Stop worrying so much. He will be here tomorrow morning. He had an urgent meeting in the evening because of which he missed his flight. That's it. Nothing serious."

"Oh. Okay", Mishty's mother mumbled and sighed heavily.

In Mishty's Room

'He is not coming.', With this thought, Mishty was moving back and forth in tension. She had switched on her mobile, but unlike last time there was no single message from Sameer. Does that mean he meant his words, which he had said? A lone tear escaped from her eyes. She couldn't figure out which fact was hurting her the most? The insults and embarrassment which her parents have to bear or Sameer left her for real? She kept all her thoughts away for a while and started typing a message to confirm the same.

Mishty took approx an hour to type a message but she could not gather the guts to ask about it directly at the end she sent just a FULL STOP (.) as her message. She waited for a while and received 'QUESTION MARK' (?) in reply from Sameer.

Sameer finds this cute. He means to start any conversation which '.' & '?'. At the same time, he saw that the message which he was going to send Mishty at that moment is in the draft.

" ;( ", Mishty sent a crying emoji. And the moment Sameer received this message, he immediately dialed Mishty's number and Mishty received the call, ignoring the fact that she was crying silently. "Are you really not coming here?", She sobbed while asking.

"I will, Mishty. Please stop crying."

"Then why didn't you come today?", Mishty asked and started crying a little louder. She even wanted to say that she was waiting for him, but she didn't.

"I had an urgent meeting. You know about the ongoing Dubai Project, right? I missed my flight because that meeting got extended by a few hours."

"Lier. I know you did this intensionally", She accused him.

.

"Fine then, If you have already presumed everything on your own then Why are we even talking about it?", Sameer pissed because of Mishty's false allegation. "Good Night"

"Sameer", Mishty called his name before Sameer could disconnect the call. For the first time after the marriage, as far as Sameer remembered. "I will wait for you. Let me know when you will be coming to take me back to OUR home.", Mishty carefully used her words because her mother always used to say the theory of fire & water. If one partner is angry, then instead of fighting him/her back, try to calm him/her down.

"I am sorry, Mishty. I really didn't mean those words, which I accidentally slipped from my mouth.", Sameer apologized.

"Even I am sorry. Instead of understanding you and saying you 'It's Okay' in return, I created a scene.", Mishty apologized.
