LOGIN"So...What do we do now?" Cain had nowhere to go now that he was no longer in his own body but in a woman's body instead. There was no way he could go back to the dorms looking like a woman. If he did, they would probably mistake him for a sasaeng and there was no way anyone was going to believe him if he told them he had switched bodies with someone.
They had both already gotten their vaccination and were outside the clinic but neither of them knew where to go or even what to do next.
Cain caught Abby staring at the tree, it was the tree he had seen her climbing and the tree she had fallen off of. He had actually noticed her foot and grip slipping when he ran over to try and catch her. He had seen many movies where men were actually able to catch falling women so when he ran over to try and catch her, he had expected the same thing to happen to him. It probably would have had it not been for his shoelaces that had been untied at that moment. He hadn't noticed they were untied until it was too late and he had fallen on the ground even before she did. And because of this Abby had ended up falling on top of him. But then their bodies switched and he was on the top while she was on the bottom.
"Do you think it could have been the tree? Do you think it has some type of magical powers?" Abby was about to touch the tree but then she remembered that she wasn't wearing any gloves since the gloves she had put on that morning had been on her own body and not Cain's. So instead of touching the tree she just stared at it while she walked around it in circles, looking it up and down.
"Unless it's the tree from Pocahontas, I don't think so. Try talking to it and see if it talks back. What was the tree's name in the movie? Mother Willow, was it?"
"Grandmother Willow actually." Abby corrected him.
"I'm not going to try talking to a tree though. I may be crazy but I'm not that crazy."
Cain wondered what Abby meant about being crazy, she looked normal to him, well other than all the protective gear she had been wearing but it was understandable since the Coronavirus had been around not too long ago.
"Fine. I'll talk to it then. Move aside."
Cain shoved her to the side and started talking to the tree but not before trying to look for anything that slightly resembled a face. He settled on a spot of the tree that seemed to have an oval shape, perhaps it was the tree's face and her eyes and mouth would appear once he started talking to it. Cain knew this really was crazy but so was body switching and if they wanted to get back to their own bodies, they were going to have to be willing to try anything.
"Grandmother Willow. Hello. Are you there? Can you hear me? Can you talk? We want to know how to get back into our own bodies. Please help us."
Abby rolled her eyes at this. She never knew Cain would be the crazy type. If he was actually talking to a tree then that only meant he was even crazier than her. Because seriously, who even talks to a tree? So either he was crazy or he was on drugs. Cain was neither though, he was only desperate.
"It's not talking back." Cain said disappointed.
He knew the chances of it actually talking back were practically impossible but he still hoped against hope.
"No duh Sherlock. When have you actually heard of a tree talking? And I don't mean in cartoons like in Pocahontas but in real life. Never, right?"
"I know. But I just thought that maybe...maybe if I believed..."
"You thought that if you believed then it would talk back to you?" Abby couldn't help but laugh at this. Cain really was still just a kid. Well she had been a bit childish herself when she was his age so she really couldn't blame him. You don't really start to mature until you're in your late 20's and Cain was barely even in his 20's. But if he was going to be in the body of a 28 year old then he was definitely going to have to start acting like one.
Cain pouted at Abby's laughter. "I thought you were a fan. Why are you laughing at me?"
"I'm sorry. I just couldn't help it. Your innocence is cute though. And if it'll make you feel better, I'm not only a fan but you're also my bias in the group."
"Really?" Cain got excited at this. He always loved hearing fans saying that he was their bias.
"So what is it that you like about me? What is it that made me your bias?" He asked this because he wanted to keep on being whatever it was that she liked about him.
"Well I usually like the dancers in the group..." Abby didn't really know how to answer his question. Was there really a reason for your bias being your bias? She thought it was something that just sort of happened. And everything about Cain had just caught her attention, EVERYTHING. To her, he was perfect.
"There are three dancers in the group though..." Her answer hadn't satisfied him. He wasn't the only dancer in the group after all, technically they were all dancers. He just so happened to be one of the two "main" dancers, Lucas was the other one.
"Not satisfied by my answer? Are you perhaps one of those people that like to hear about how much they are loved? Because I never thought of you as that kind of person."
No one could really know what an idol was really like except for other members in their group so as a fan you could never be sure that the idol you saw on TV was the same in real life. But then again, no person is really how they appear to be. Everyone wears some kind of a mask, a disguise. Everyone hid part of themselves, the part they didn't want others to see. And sometimes people hide those parts because they want to be what others want them to be. Then once they start wearing that mask long enough, they start forgetting who they really are. Abby had been a victim of this before so she would understand if Cain was also like that. She wouldn't judge him if he didn't turn out to be like the idol she had seen on all the videos.
"It's fine. You don't actually have to tell me how much you like me. I'm just content to know that you actually like me."
As idols it was essential for fans to like them because without fans they wouldn't even be idols. And Abby was one of those fans, one of the reasons why he was an idol.
"Well if you want to hear about the physical traits I like about you...I could tell you." She probably wouldn't even be able to tell him this to his face but since it was her face she was seeing, it was almost as if she were to talk to herself.
"I like your eyes, the mole under your eye, your pretty small rounded nose, your plump lips, your pretty face shape, your muscular arms, your big hands, your small waist, and long legs."
By the time Abby finished listing all the things she was blushing. Cain was surprised to hear so many things she liked about him. He felt flattered.
"Anyways...could we get back to the issue at stake?"
Abby thought that was enough admiring for a day and she also didn't want her face to get any redder than it already had gotten. Cain had been smiling the whole time Abby had listed those things and it made her wonder if she was the first person to tell him all those things. She doubted she was. He was the kind of guy that would cath every woman's heart the first instant they saw him, he was just that gorgeous. He almost looked like a character that came out of an anime.
"Fine. I actually came up with a theory while you were listing all those lovely things about me."
Abby blushed. She wished he would also list things he liked about her but that was probably never going to happen, he barely even knew her.
"Pray tell. I wish to be enlightened by your genius theories just like the theory you had about the talking tree."
Abby was being sarcastic of course. She just really wanted something else to make her laugh, Cain realized this.
"You just want to make fun of me again, don't you?" He glared at her.
"Well not exactly make fun of you but I do want something I can laugh about."
"That's the same thing as making fun of me! I'm starting to doubt that I'm really your bias. You probably say that to everyone. Have you been to any of our fansigns before? There have been instances where the same fan goes from member to member telling them that they love them the most but how is that even possible when you are saying that to 8 different people? I just wonder what these fans think they'll achieve by flattering each and every one of us."
"Well as a fan myself, I think that a lot of fans really do love every member in a group and in a way they want them all to feel special and loved so maybe that's why they do that? I wouldn't really know though because I've never been to a fansign before."
"Why not?" She seemed to really like him so he wondered why she had never gone to a fansign before.
"I rather not talk about it. Could you just tell me this theory of yours? I promise I will try to take you seriously and not make fun of it. Well so long as it's not childish that is..." She tried to stifle a laugh.
The reason why Abby had not wanted to tell him about why she had never been to a fansign before was because it would be embarrassing. It was obviously not that she hadn't wanted to go to a fansign but she just couldn't, her Agoraphobia wouldn't permit her to be in such place where there were so many people around. And there were always a lot of fans in those types of events. But now she not only got to meet Cain one on one but she had even switched bodies with him! If it weren't for her Agoraphobia and Mysophobia, she would have probably even enjoyed being Cain (for a while that is).
"My theory...well it's usually the first thing that the characters in movies and dramas try to do when they've switched bodies with someone...Although, it never actually really works BUT this is neither a movie or a drama so it might just actually work..."
Abby knew where he was going with this. She had also thought of it but just like Cain said, it never really ever worked in movies or dramas but this was real life and real life was never like in movies and dramas.
"You're right. This isn't a drama or a movie. I think it's worth a try. It's probably the best shot we got anyways. I really can't think of anything else that might work."
If this didn't work for them then Abby really didn't know what was to become of their future. She knew they couldn't stay like they were forever but she also didn't know how to undo such a thing. They could try seeing a psychic...there were a lot of them in Korea after all but what if even a psychic thought of them as crazy? Seeing a psychic was probably going to have to be their last resort. Abby had already been called crazy enough to last her a lifetime.
"I fainted, right? I know I was slipping but then I saw that one of my gloves had ripped and I was bleeding and I believe that it was then that I fainted. So instead of falling like I thought I was going to, I really just fainted. But why where you there at that exact moment? This probably wouldn't have happened had you not been there."
Abby vaguely remembered what happened but she at least knew this much. And as for Cain, he had just really come out of nowhere since she hadn't even seen him there before she ended up fainting.
"Well excuse me for trying to save your life. I probably even have a bump on my head now from having my head hit the pavement."
Cain went over to Abby to check on his head. She shook him off almost immediately. He was going to mess up his hair if he kept on checking for bumps like he was. She didn't even feel any pain so she doubted he had gotten a bump from the fall.
"Drama queen much? Your body may have hit the pavement but your head hit the dirt. The dirt is soft. You should probably be more worried about your hair being dirty than having nonexistent bumps."
Abby shook her head which was really Cain's head. There was no way she was going to touch hair that had touched the dirt but she had to get that dirt off somehow.
"Well then my hair got dirty. You better wash it if we're not able to switch back bodies after this."
Abby's eyes widened at the thought of her taking a shower while being in Cain's body. She wiped underneath her nose just to make sure she wasn't bleeding, she wasn't. That probably only happened in animes.
"You were having dirty thoughts, weren't you?"
Cain was smirking and Abby felt like slapping that smirk off but then she realized that she would really only be slapping herself by doing that.
"Maybe we shouldn't switch bodies after all...at least not right away. I think I might actually like what I see under all this."
Cain looked down and was about to pull the collar of the hoodie when Abby slapped his, her hand away. It was all so confusing now that she had to think of her body parts as his and his body parts as hers.
"Don't you dare!"
"I was just kidding." He was really half kidding and half serious.
He of course did think he might actually like what he would see but he didn't really think it would be right to do it in this way. And staying in one another's bodies for such a thing was definitely not a good reason.
"So...do you think we should reenact what happened? Should I try climbing the tree again?"
Abby didn't know if it would have to be her in Cain's body to climb the tree or for Cain to do the actual climbing since he was in her body after all.
"Well that was how you fell so I would say so."
"But I fainted though...How am I supposed to make myself faint?"
"It's called a reenactment for a reason. You just act like you faint."
"Fine then, if you say so pretty boy. But if we're going to do this right I am going to be needing my gloves."
She reached her hands out expecting for Cain to give her the gloves she had been wearing but instead he gave her a confused look.
"Gloves? What for?"
"I was wearing them at the time."
"Yes but they ripped so I threw them away."
"We'll just have to buy some new ones then."
Abby made it sound like she wanted the gloves just to try and reenact as close to what really happened but she really just wanted the gloves because she knew she wasn't going to be able to even touch the tree without any gloves on. Cain didn't have to know this though. The less he knew about her and her "issues", the better.
Luckily Cain had a car and there was no longer a need for Abby to take a taxi. She wasn't sure she could handle riding another one. She didn't know why but she at least felt somewhat safe with him. She had been able to touch him after all. Although technically it was really just her touching her own body. But if you really thought about it, both of them were now one in the same. She was him and he was her. Both of them have shared the same body and that made them have a special kind of bond.
"I didn't know you could drive. I always thought your manager drove you around everywhere."
It was barely going to be three years since Adam debuted and usually idols didn't start driving themselves that soon. Abby didn't know if this was the way entertainment companies pampered their artists or if they just really did it to keep them in check. Idols lives were controlled to some extent after all, especially for groups that were less than 5 years old.
"Well obviously I can but I don't usually do so. This is one of those rare times when my mom lends me her car. All the other members have already gotten their vaccination so it just didn't seem right to have our manager drive just me around when the other members might actually need him for other things."
Abby always wondered what it would feel like to have a manager. In a way they were like babysitters to these idols and that thought alone just seemed sort of weird.
"It would have been nice if you had come with the other members. I would have liked meeting them."
"Oh really? I thought I was your bias. So who else would you have liked to meet if you could only pick one other member?"
Cain didn't know why but he felt somewhat jealous at the thought of Abby wanting to meet the other members. He knew she was a fan of the group as a whole and not just him alone but he had gotten used to her just liking him so he wondered who else she really liked in the group. He wondered who his rival was, that "bias wrecker" that always tried to wreck him.
"Well if I had to pick just one member then it would obviously be my bias wrecker."
"Well who is your bias wrecker?" She had said she liked dancers so most likely it was going to be either Lucas or Abel, at least he assumed that.
"Abel. I mean c'mon, who else would it be? He's a dancer with a deep sexy voice and an Australian accent on top of that. Then there's his cute freckles and that baby face of his! Oh gosh he is just so gorgeous!"
Abby was practically gushing, she hadn't gushed like that over Cain when she listed all the things she liked about him.
Cain knew what she liked in a guy now and Abby couldn't help but wonder what he liked in a girl. She was too shy to ask him that though. The only thing she had read about his "ideal type" on a Adam member profile page online was that his ideal type was someone that would listen to his worries well and could empathize to them as if they were their own worries but that could really be anyone. She was more interested in knowing what physical traits he liked. Well one thing was at least certain to her and that was the he most likely wouldn't like a freak like her. He would probably want someone that could actually go out to places with him and someone that was not afraid of something as silly as germs.
"I found the gloves! They have different sizes. X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large! And they have different colors too! Blue, green, yellow, pink, white, and clear!"
Cain was amazed by all the variety the convenience store had. He never knew there were latex gloves in so many different colors. Abby always got the XS and green ones, her favorite color. Well they weren't exactly the same shade of green as her favorite color because her favorite color was Neon Green but she liked all shades of green in general.
Abby grabbed a box of the XL green gloves but also grabbed a box of XS white gloves, white was one of Cain's favorite colors after all (at least that's what she had read on his profile online).
"Why are you getting two different sized gloves?"
Cain looked at the two different sized gloves but didn't see why she would need XS gloves when she was in his body, he most definitely did not have XS hands. Just like she had said before, he had big hands. He would probably need size XL gloves.
"Well I will be climbing the tree with your body but you might also have to since you are in my body after all and it was my body that climbed the tree."
"I guess you have a point. We'll have to try both ways."
Both of them had had afternoon appointments so by the time they arrived back at the clinic the place had already been closed. It was actually better that way. People would only look at them weird and think they were crazy if they saw what they were about to do. Someone might have actually even tried to interfere and ruin their reenactment so really there was no other perfect time to do what they were about to do than at that moment. They just had to do it right and perhaps they would be leaving that place in their own bodies.
Abby tried to climb the tree first. She remembered when she had started climbing the tree she first used her right foot then her left, right, left, right and that third left was when she almost reached the twig and then she had to pull herself up to actually be able to reach it. The twig wasn't on the tree anymore though since she had actually managed to grab it and it had come down along with her but snapped during the fall. The twig was broken in two pieces and was laying on the ground.
Cain went running over just like he had done so before. Abby let go of her grasp of the tree and pretended to faint. He wished he could just catch her like he had actually intended to do the first time but he knew he had to trip just like the first time. He actually even untied his shoelaces just so that everything would be the same or at least as close as possible. He had to make sure he tripped at the right spot though so that his body would hit the pavement but his head would hit the dirt. And just like that Abby was on top of Cain.
They had however forgotten some things because this time there were no googles, mask or face shield on either one of them, nothing that would prevent their face OR lips from touching each other like they were at that moment. They were kissing! So much for trying to reenact everything just the same.
It had been a week of aches, pains and stiffness but the swelling was something new. Cain looked at his hands, Abby's hands and then at the peanut butter and jelly sandwich he had taken a bite from. The first thing that came to his mind was an allergic reaction. It was the first time since he was in Abby's body that he had eaten something with peanuts. She hadn't told him anything about her having an allergy to them but there was nothing else that could explain the swelling. Not only would the swelling affect him in doing his job but he had also woken up with extreme fatigue that morning. The feeling was almost like when a flu was coming but worse.Already changed and ready to leave for the e.Lee Cosmetics photoshoot, Cain started walking towards the bedroom to grab his phone but even just going a few more steps felt like too much. Feeling sluggish, he could no longer go on and stopped to lay on the couch. Laying made him feel the symptoms even more but just get
Carrying someone the size of Joel was no easy feat for Cain, especially since Abby's body was a lot smaller than his own. He had managed to carry Abby halfway up the staircase but it was then that she started kicking him and telling him to let her go. His back had already been hurting from all the weight it was carrying but her kicking only made it worse since he had to bend down even more just to avoid her kicks. He was near the top when he could no longer carry her. Had it not been for Abel that was there to catch them, they would have most likely fallen down the stairs and because of that Cain felt grateful."How much did she drink?"Abel who had been staring out the window all night had seen when two figures came out of a taxi. As soon as he realized that it was Abby and Cain, he hurried down the stairs with a blanket in hand."3 cans of soju and 3 shots of tequila."Covering Abby with the blanke
<Hey mom. I just wanted to let you know that I have a friend over at my apartment. He's Korean and doesn't know English.>The last thing Abby wanted to do was to end up surprising her mom with a stranger in her apartment. She thought it was for the best to let her know ahead of time, even if it was through a text. It had been weeks since she had actually talked to her mom on the phone.<HE? It's a guy?!>It was just like her mom to only notice the word "he" and then go all crazy about it. Almost 7 years of a daughter not dating would do that to any mother. And the fact that Abby was just one year away from being 30 only made matters worse.<Yes mom. Now please don't make such a big deal like you did with Cain. Joel is only a friend.><No boy in front of that friend?"<NO.><Well it doesn't matter. You'll prob
They had returned back to the dorms and once more Abby had to get adjusted to being called by a different name and not only her but Joel as well. Since they weren't practicing but had the day off, all of the members were at the dorms. Normally on their days off they would go see their families but since half of them were sick, they couldn't. And since both Abby and Joel weren't sick, they were expected to take care of the members that were. The sick members would call out to them but instead of Abby responding to Joel's name, she responded to Cain's. And instead of Joel responding to Cain's name, he responded to his own name. It had the members confused as to what was going on with the two but they would both just laugh it off and say they had just heard wrong."It would be so much easier if all the members just knew."Joel heaved a sigh as he sat down next to Abby. He had just finished helping Seth hang up lights he had bought for their roo
The next morning Abby woke up in an unfamiliar bedroom. She knew as soon as she opened her eyes since the ceiling appeared to be much closer to her, it meant she was higher up off the ground. Looking down, she saw Eli sleeping. Then looking to the side of the room there was a single bed with a sleeping Seth. It was obvious that she was in one of the other bedrooms. And considering how it was the room of the members that hadn't been sick, Abby thought that perhaps Abel had somehow carried her there. He had mentioned to her before about how they could switch up rooms so that she wouldn't have to be with him since he was sick.Looking at the alarm clock on the nightstand, Abby saw that it was 10 minutes till the alarm would go off. Having woken up because she needed to go to the bathroom, she climbed down the bunk bed's ladder. She noticed that her legs didn't seem as long and that her arms seemed more muscular but ignored those things thinking it was just her mind
It wasn't Abel's snoring that had kept Abby up that night but instead it was what she had heard him say before he got into bed. Had anyone else told her that Cain liked her, she wouldn't have believed it. But Abel had sounded so certain when he said those things. There was no doubt in his words and yet she wanted to doubt them. She didn't want another person liking her. But just like she had analyzed Abel's words and actions, she analyzed Cain's as well. She remembered a saying that her sister once told her many years ago, "A guy is only ever that nice and caring to a girl when he likes her." Abby was barely in the 7th grade when her sister told her this. And her sister being 11 years older than her and with more experience had of course been right. Because that saying had turned out to be true when a month later Abby's best friend Brandon confessed to her.All that time she thought her best guy friend waking up early so he could walk
