Chapter XVII: Having Fun Together

King Alaric’s POV

I woke up first than Beatrice. As part of my routine every morning, I kissed Beatrice’s forehead. She woke up after I did that.

"Good morning,"

"Good morning, Alaric,"

"I have all my time for you today,"

“What are we going to do today?”

"I'm thinking of taking you to this place today,"

“What is that place?”

"It's located near the garden. You will be amazed. We must get ready,"

"Ok, I'm excited,"

We got ready. After we got ready, we took our breakfast. After taking our breakfast, we grab our lunch for later. The place that I'm taking Beatrice, is located near the garden. Whenever I'm bored, I always go to that place because I can have time for myself and it's peaceful.

We are headed to that place. When we arrived,

“Wow, is this the place you are talking about Alaric?”

"Yup. Whenever I'm bored, I always go here,"

"This place is amazing. It's like a rest house,"

"Come, let's go inside,"

I opened the door.

"Wow, it's even beautiful inside,"

"You know that I stopped going here when my mother died because it reminded me of her. Now, I dare to come back here. I have you now, Beatrice. This place is special to me, and you are also a special person Beatrice,"

"Thank you, Alaric,"

"Let's go to the balcony,"

We went to the balcony and looked at the beautiful scenery.

"What beautiful scenery," Beatrice said.

"You can see lots of flowers from up here,"

"It's so colorful,"

We stayed in the balcony and talked about random topics.

“Alaric, you became king at a young age. Is it hard for you?”

"It's hard, but I have no choice but to be a king. My uncle guided me, but he is now dead. There's lots of paper works to review, and it's tiring, but I need to finish it because it's for the benefit of the country,"

"I am the opposite of you because I'm like the black sheep of the family. I'm stubborn and a happy-go-lucky person,"

"That's so you, Beatrice. I envy you,"

"But you know Alaric, you have me now. Let's work together. I will help and accompany you to your work and duties. I'm the queen. I will always be by your side. You are not alone now. If you need me, I will be there,"

"Thank you, Beatrice,"

“Next topic. When is your birthday Alaric?”

“February 8^th is my birthday. I also stopped celebrating my birthday after my mother died. You?”

“Birthdays are special. You should celebrate it. I will celebrate it with you. Mine is on June 18^th,"

"It's next month,"

“Yup”

Narrator’s POV

Queen Beatrice and King Alaric talked and talked, and it's already lunchtime. They went outside and ate there. They are having a picnic together. After they ate their lunch, they lie down and looked at the sky and took a nap for about two hours.

"That's a nice nap," Beatrice said

"Yup. Come, let's go to the garden,"

King Alaric and Queen Beatrice went to the garden. Suddenly, King Alaric saw a hose, and he is planning to get Queen Beatrice wet. King Alaric grab the hose and aims it at Queen Beatrice.

“Beatrice”

“What is it?”

King Alaric suddenly turned the faucet, and the water comes out and getting Queen Beatrice wet.

"Hahhaha, you are now wet,"

"Alaric! Give me that," Queen Beatrice shouts at King Alaric.

"Come and get it," King Alaric said while sticking out his tongue.

"I'm so going to get it from you,"

Queen Beatrice chased King Alaric. They are having fun chasing each other. You can hear their loud laugh. Queen Beatrice caught King Alaric and grab the hose from him.

“Haha, I got it. Take that Alaric”

Queen Beatrice and King Alaric happily played with the water. They got tired of chasing each other, so they lie down for a bit.

"That was fun," King Alaric said.

"I admit it was fun,"

"I didn't have this much fun when mother died"

"Call yourself lucky because I became your wife. I will make your life wonderful and happy Alaric,"

"I'm lucky to have you as my wife and queen, Beatrice. Thank you that you are there, by my side,"

"No problem. We are now soaking wet. Let's go back and change,"

“Ok”

Queen Beatrice and King Alaric went back to the palace, and Butler Livie saw them and scolded them.

“Why are you two soaking wet?”

"We played with the hose," Queen Beatrice said.

“It was fun!”

"Go and change immediately to your room,"

“Ok”

They went to their room and got changed. When they are done changing their clothes, King Alaric thought of something.

"Beatrice, why don't we give the people in the palace a day off,"

"That would be a great idea, Alaric. They need that once in a while,"

"Ok. I thought about it because all of them are doing their duties seriously and a little reward will cheer them up,"

"That's right,"

"I will announce it to them tomorrow morning,"

What a thoughtful king.

They had fun today. What will the two of them do again tomorrow?
