Chapter XXIX: 5 Years Later

Queen Beatrice’s POV

It's been five years, and the twins are now five years old. I am now 28 years old, and Alaric is 22 years old and will turn 23 tomorrow.

For the past five years, Alaric and I struggled because we have two responsibilities now, our duties and the twins. The twins are playful, they fight over small things all the time, but they are inseparable. Endymion keeps on teasing Serenity.

Raising twins is no joke. We have maids to be with them, but Alaric and I didn't rely on them. As parents, we need to do our part. We want the twins to feel what is a mother and father love.

The twins grew smart and independent. They don't like to depend on someone. They got that from me. They are now in their room studying, and Livie is teaching them. I’m going there because I need to tell them something. When I arrive, I knocked and entered.

“Mother," Endymion and Serenity said and hugged me.

“Can you leave us for a bit, Livie?”

"Yes, your highness," Livie said and left the room.

"How are my prince and princess doing?"

“We are good, mother. We learned a lot today from Uncle Livie,"

"That's great. I have to tell you something about tomorrow,"

"What is it, mother?"

"It's your father's birthday tomorrow,"

“Wow, we need to do something,"

“And what is that? You decide”

"I got an idea. Serenity, we need to make a birthday card to father,"

"Great idea, brother Endymion. We need to make the card today. I also have something in mind, mother. What if we bake a cake to father and surprise him at his office tomorrow morning?"

"What a great idea, Serenity. Ok, we will bake a cake tomorrow,"

“Uhum, and we will help your mother,"

"Ok. Make sure you finish your baking your birthday card today,"

"Ok mother,"

"I will take my leave now. I will go to your father,"

"Ok mother,"

"Don't fight, ok? And please keep it a secret to your father,"

I left their room and went to Alaric’s office.

King Alaric’s POV

It's been five years. The twins are now five years old and not to mention, they are smart and independent.

Beatrice and I struggled in taking care of the twins because we have our royal duties. We don't want to rely always on the maids because Beatrice and I wanted to take care of them ourselves. We only rely on the maids when we are busy and can't be with them.

I’m in my office, suddenly Beatrice arrived.

"How were the twins doing?"

"They are at their room studying,"

"I see,"

“Can I help you with that?”

“Sure”

Beatrice and I are now working.

After an hour, the twins entered the office.

"Mother, father," they both said.

“Are you done studying?”

"Yes, father,"

"As a reward for both of you, here's a bar of chocolate. Oh, there's only one left,"

"I will have it, father," Endymion said and, grab the chocolate.

"No, I will,"

"Then come and get it,"

Endymion and Serenity are now fighting with the chocolate. They are always like that, fighting over small things and Endymion would tease serenity.

“Now, now. Endymion and Serenity," Beatrice said with an angry voice.

"Yes, mother," they both said and stopped fighting.

"What will you do if you only have one chocolate, and there's two of you?"

"Share it mother,"

"Very good. You need to share it,"

Endymion breaks the chocolate in half and gives the other half to Serenity.

“Here Serenity”

“Thank you, Brother Endymion,"

"And what will you say if you commit a wrongdoing Endymion?” I said.

"Say sorry, father,"

"Very good. Now say sorry to Serenity,"

“Sorry Serenity”

“It’s ok Brother Endymion,"

“You need to know what’s right and wrong, ok?”

"Yes, mother,"

"Ok. Now, go back to your room. You have lessons any minute now,"

"Ok, mother. See you later, mother and father,"

"Ok," Beatrice and I said.

Endymion and Serenity left the office happily.

"They grew up smart and independent Beatrice,"

"Yup. As parents, we need to influence them to be a good person,"

"They learn quickly,"

"I agree. Thank you for being a great mother and queen, Beatrice,"

"So sweet. You are always welcome. And thank you also for being a great husband and king, Alaric,"

I grab Beatrice’s hand and kissed the back of it. I looked at her, and she is smiling genuinely. Her beauty never fades. I will never get tired seeing that beautiful face of her.

The twins grew up to be smart, independent, and kind.

King Alaric and Queen Beatrice did an excellent job being a parent.

Tomorrow is King Alaric’s birthday. What will happen tomorrow?
