Chapter 29~ Reconciliation

Never in Kelvin's life had he been slapped before. His mother and father never for once raised their hands on him, and the thought that he was slapped riled him.

Isere was shocked at herself. She didn't know what had made her slap him and she began to worry.

Kelvin looked at her with an unreadable expression but it showed he was angry, Isere began to panic, what had she done?!

Kelvin didn't say anything but as soon as his eyes met hers, he walked out on her, Isere trembled, she wanted to apologise but couldn't feel her legs and find her voice. Kelvin walked back to his room, he grabbed his car keys and walked back out, walking pass Isere and going for the door.

It was like a movie in front of her, she started to cry, what had she done?!She curled her legs on the floor as she placed her head in between her knees. She wasn't wearing any shirt still and she didn't feel cold.

It was past ten in the night and Kelvin was not back yet, Isere started to worry. Could he have gone to sleep with another girl?!

As soon as that thought came to her mind, she shrugged them blaming those thoughts for the situation she was in now. But she wondered, what If those thoughts were true.

Isere came back to the living room, now fully clothed, she sat down on the floor waiting for Kelvin to apologise to him.

Kelvin didn't return until past 2:00am in the morning, when he came back, he was surprised to see Isere on the floor sleeping. Even though he was angry with her, he wouldn't treat her wrong.

He went to pick her up from the floor and carried her to the room to sleep well, although he didn't sleep in the same room.

Isere woke up the next day, she looked at the side of the bed and saw it was untouched meaning, Kelvin didn't sleep here but she couldn't remember coming to the room by herself.

Her eyes got watery again as she believed she put herself in this mess. She wondered when Kelvin had returned.

Isere made her way to the living room to look for him but saw the maids patrolling around, cleaning everywhere and doing their necessary jobs. She walked to the other rooms and found Kelvin in one of the room.

She had never seen the other rooms before but they were spacious but not  as big as his room. Kelvin was dressed in a suit, knotting his tie in front of a mirror. Isere rested by the door as she watched and admired his fine features.

Then it clicked to her, it was Monday and she had lectures. "Good...morning," she managed to say. She wanted to apologise but couldn't fine the right word.

He didn't say anything and that pricked her heart. "It's just past six, get change so I can drop you off," those were the words he spoke and that made Isere stomach flip.

She suddenly felt her stomach clench and she knew he was angry. He had never been angry with her before and if she didn't make things right now, there was no assurance it would get better.

"I'm so sorry Segun," she voiced out with a hint of emotion laced on her tone. He said nothing still, as he was about to walked past her she hugged him crying unto his chest.

"It's fine!" He told her. "I'm so sorry!" She finally looked up to his eyes; while hers was teary, he showed no emotions in his eyes.

"Please forgive me! Please!" She begged. "Fine, hit me back and let's make it even!" She spat out and Kelvin frowned.

He wasn't trained by his mother to never hit women and he wouldn't dare touch her, he didn't know how or what intruiged him about Isere but he loved her so much than he had loved another. Hitting her face would only mean he had run mad.

"Don't say such," he spat out, caressing her cheek. "I forgive you."

"Really?" Isere asked. "I'm so sorry, I promise to change, just don't break up with me," she spat out.

Kelvin face palmed himself,he didn't even think of the word break up until she brought it up.

"Where are you from Kate?" He chuckled lightly.

Isere was quick to change after taking her bath, then joined Kelvin for breakfast. There was still some awkward silence between them, although Kelvin had forgiven her, Isere thought he hadn't considering he wasn't saying anything.

Kelvin parked in front of her hostel. Isere removed the seatbelt and leaned in to peck Kelvin on the lips but he had turned his face and it landed on his cheek although it wasn't intentional. Isere felt hurt but put on a fake smile and made her way back to her hostel.

It was night time and Isere awaited Kelvin's call but he didn't call and that hurt her, she decided to call him and his phone rang but he didn't pick up. She began to cry.

Ejiro noticed her crying and asked her what had happy, but she had no courage to tell her, so she lied it was her mother.

Isere, in a stylish way asked Ejiro about her opinion about Kelvin and her situation, telling her it was a film she watched with Kelvin to see her reaction.

"The girl is stupid then, those are his past girlfriends and they are his past, what stays in the past stays in the past! I will have to say, the girl is childish, irrational, jealous and foolish!"

Ouch! Isere said within her.

"I mean, for one, one of those girls might have hurt him and he wants nothing to do with them. He is with her and fine, it is normal to get jealous but she had to shrug those thoughts away, why relent on something in the past."

"And also slapping him is too far, I can't slap my baby unless I catch him cheating although I know he is cheating which he keeps denying!" Ejiro spat out.

"Your boyfriend is cheating on you and you are doing nothing?" Isere asked her.

"Lemme tell you this Kate, Men will always be men, he isn't in the same state as me and there is no way he is celibrate, I'm sure he has a side chick and although he keeps acting weird and denying, I know. Not that I am not angry but as long as he doesn't treat me like an option and still lets me know I am the only one in his life, then those other girls are his side chick, NSA!" Ejiro spat out.

"Wow! Your confidence is worth admiring. But what if he leaves you?" Isere asked.

"He will be acting weird already na and I will notice, I can't kill myself and besides he can't, do you know how obsessed that boy is with me? If I don't pick his call, he starts to worry, relationship is about trust dear and although you must'nt give a man a full trust so you won't end up being hurt."

"If ladies used what men does to them to stay away, our parents wouldn't give birth to us, all men cheats although not all but it's rare, at least just 1% are saints. Celebrities cheat so who the hell are they?! Men are never satisfied and i tell you, when a girl is too clingy, they loose interest too." Ejiro spat out.

One thing Isere admired about Ejiro was how she handled things maturely, although Ejiro was older than her with a year and if not for Nigeria educational system would have been in three hundred level like her boyfriend but because of Jamb jamming her twice, she had to be here.

She is glad to have someone like Ejiro for a friend and maybe, she should apologise more to Kelvin.

On Tuesday, Isere got no call from Kelvin and she began to worry, the thought of what Ejiro said began to wander in her mind. Giving weird attitudes showed they want out, her relationship is barely two weeks and he wants out, she began to cry. Letting down her pride, she dialled his number and it rang but he didn't pick up.

It wasn't until on tuesday night that Kelvin called her again. At first she didn't want to pick the call but with his name flashing on her small Nokia phone, she couldn't resist.

He had told her he forgot his phone with Banji and got it on tuesday afternoon and he was sorry. Isere immidately forgave him, just hearing his voice alone sent shivers down her spine.

Unlike before, the call didn't last and he ended it with the excuse that he had to do something riling Isere. She suddenly felt he wanted to break up and was looking for ways. As usual she cried herself to sleep again.

On Wednesday while Isere was coming back from the market, after buying food stuffs, she saw a familiar car. She shrugged it off her mind until she saw a lady getting into the car and Kelvin was inside the car.

She couldn't believe her eyes, they just had a fight and she was cheating already, she began to cry, finding it hard to move as her heart clenched.

When she got back to her hostel, Ejiro was on the phone and had noticed her sour mood. "What happened?" Ejiro asked her as soon as  soon as she ended the call.

"Nothing!" She retorted ignoring Ejiro. Isere said nothing and that bothered Ejiro. Isere slept early that Wednesday. She said she wouldn't cry anymore.

When Isere woke up on Thursday morning, she saw five missed calls from Kelvin, her stomach churned as she almost slammed her phone on the wall. She didn't want anything to do with him anymore.

Isere eye bags were visible, she looked weird having a swollen eye and Ejiro was worried but Isere said nothing.

Kelvin was bothered, Isere wasn't picking his calls, he had so wanted to hear her voice. It was past twelve on thursday and she hadn't returned the calls. He was really angry about the slap but there was no way he'd take it to heart that much.

He dialled her number that thursday night and she didn't pick. He texted her but there was no reply.

When Isere saw the message, she started hurling words of insult to him calling him a womaniser and a cheater.

It was finally on Friday and Isere was glad because she needed the break to sleep and forget about him. She deleted his number too from her phone, she was even tempted to block him.

Kelvin was glad friday had come as he would go and see Isere today. Could she be sick? he thought so many times and even thought her phone might have been stolen.

That evening, Kelvin went to her hostel, he dialled her number but no reply. Then he saw a particular familiar figure, it was Ejiro.

He greeted her and Ejiro too replied with a smile. "Kate has been acting weird lately, she'd been crying and won't tell me the reason," Ejiro told him and his heart sank.

Crying? Why would she?  He thought.

"Can you please tell her, I am here?" He requested.

When Isere heard Kelvin was downstairs, she got annoyed, if she went to see him, she might slap him again, she thought. He was a cheat and a womaniser!

Isere went to meet him and when she saw him, her first word was, "What do you want?!" She came out rude which surprised Kelvin.

He saw her eyes and how swollen they were, "What happened to you?" He was quick to touch her face but she pulled out of his hold.

"What's wrong Kate?" He asked her.

"You care?" She scoffed and he frowned. "I thought you broke up with me already?!" She spat out.

Her word shocked kelvin, "Break up? What are you saying?" He asked.

"Now you are denying? I noticed you like light skinned girl, so where is the tall light skinned girl you were with on Wednesday?" She asked folding her arms across her chest.

She was doing it again, he thought. Accusing him of what he wasn't doing without any prove. She was referring to Lola, his coursemate he had helped by driving her home.

He didn't even know she saw him and instead of her to ask him, she concluded. "Here you go again with the false accusations!" He spat out. He had never in his life cheated on a girl while he was in a relationship. He had always been faithful.

Isere scoffed, "False accusations?! Isn't that why you didn't kiss me on the lips when you dropped me on Monday morning? Isn't hat why you lied you forgot your phone with Banji when you refused to pick my call on monday!" She spat out.

He never lied about forgetting his phone, he had crashed at Banji's place. He was really tired and had slept early. He didn't remember to take his phone and didn't realise he forgot it until he wanted to call her.

"You know this is the problem! You accuse me falsely, make up accusations and put all blame on me, like this wrong! And I never broke up with you, I didn't intentionally take my face away and made your lips touch my cheek and if that is what you are angry, I AM SORRY!" He spat out.

She was driving him insane and he wasn't liking the argument. Isere suddenly felt bad, maybe she was being irrational as usual.

She promised to change and here she was jeopardizing her relationship.

She wrapped her arms around him, "Please dont break up with me," She cried. "I'm so sorry, I was scared you left me, I know I am so insecure and stupid and foolish and jealous and the worse girlfriend in the world but please..." he held unto her cutting her off.

He rest his forehead on hers, "I told you, if you have something in mind, tell me instead of jumping into conclusions, you hurt me a lot Kate and you don't realise it." He sighed.

She placed her hands on his cheek, "I promise to make it up to you, I will kiss the cheek i slapped all the days of my life and won't ever accuse you anymore," she told him and he wiped away her tears.

He kissed her lips more like a peck on the lip, "Why don't we spend the weekend together as usual, I've missed you!" He kissed her again on her lips lightly.

"I've missed you too."

Isere woke up the next day with her arms wrapped out Kelvin, she smiled. Last night had been naughty between them and she was glad things were back to normal. She blushed when she remembered how he ate her out which she found irritating at first.

She wasn't going to rush things anymore and won't make false accusations, she was going to change for the better and be a better girlfriend to Kelvin.
