Chapter 46~ Bonding

Its been one week since the incident between Isere and her parents; at first it was kind of awkward between them all as no one said nothing to each other.

Isere's parents spoke to each other first before inviting Isere to join them and they all spoke. They spoke to the extent of deciding to let Isere take her path and do what she wanted as a means of correcting their past mistakes.

The next day, Isere mother had asked Isere to follow her to the market to get groceries and in an polite manner which took Isere by shock.

The family has been trying to bond and correcting past mistakes by watching programmes other than news together; Isere was shocked and was taken aback when she saw her mother tune the station to African magic.

Her parents never brought up the topic regarding her pregnancy and who the father was although she knew they'd ask her soon.

She hasn't been forced to do anything and her mother found it hard to speak to her most times.

Isere's father had taken it upon himself to bring up topics whenever they ate together. He would ask Isere's opinion and Isere would speak up, she found it relieving to oppose their opinion and say her thoughts.

Isere waited for Kelvin to come online as she viewed status of her contact, she hadn't told her parents about Kelvin and her phone.

The door of Isere was knocked, "Come in," Isere said. Her mother opened the door, letting herself in.

"Good afternoon ma," Isere greeted her mother.

"Good afternoon," Her mother smiled. "How are you?" Her mother asked.

"I am fine, thank you ma," Isere replied.

Isere mother heaved a sigh, she gathered herself to speak to Isere looking for the perfect topic to start with until her eyes saw a phone on Isere's lap.

"Is that your phone?" Her mother asked.

It dawn to Isere that she hadn't hidden her phone from her mother. Isere swallowed the lump in her throat, there was no need in hiding anything from them anymore.

"It was a birthday gift from my boyfriend and..." She trailed off, she licked her lips before she continued, "The father of my unborn child," Isere completed her speech.

Isere mother made the ooo sound raising her brows. "Hmm, so about this man..." Isere's mother cleared her throat.

"About this man that got you pregnant..." Isere's mother swallowed the lump in her throat. "Does he know you are pregnant?" Her mother asked.

Isere was silent, she knew conversation like this with her mother would be uncomfortable but she wasn't expecting it to be this uncomfortable.

"He doesn't know, I mean I haven't told him yet," Isere said.

"How did you meet him? How is he like?" Isere mother asked.

Isere began to play with her fingers, "Segun is a darling, an understanding person who listens to me and treats me right, he does so much for me and endures me a lot and my tantrums," Isere chuckled lightly when she said her last word.

"You like him?" Her mother asked.

"I don't like him, I love him," Isere blushed.

"Are you sure he'd be happy to hear you are pregnant?" Isere mother asked.

Isere has never thought of that and the thought of it baffled her. Kelvin had plans and she didn't know how the news would take an effect on him.

She shrugged, "I don't know but I know he wouldn't leave me because of it," Isere spoke with doubt in her mind.

She was trying to assure herself things would be right but she knew it might not be and the thought of getting dumped In a situation like this scared her.

"Okay, so what are your plans regarding the child?" Isere mother asked her.

"I will take care of the child with all I can and I'd very much like to continue education too," Isere said.

Isere mother stared at Isere before speaking up, "You will surely continue your education and your father and I already spoke about that. What  I just want for you, is the best and I'd make sure to close the gap between us and make things better," Isere mother lamented and Isere nodded her head.

"What does this boy do to get you such as expensive phone?" Isere mother asked.

Isere didn't know if she should tell her mother Segun is a prince. "Can I keep that to myself for now," Isere smacked her lips. "Rest assured, he doesn't do anything illegal, he is from a prominent family and a very good one too." Isere spoke.

"Okay, if you say so," Isere mother nodded her head. "I'd wait for you to open up at your own time, for the main time, if you need anything, you know where to find me," her mother said getting up from the bed.

"And," her mother turned back to look at her, "Take care of yourself as it's not about you alone but my future grandchild too." Isere smiled when she heard what her mother said.

She couldn't believe neither did she imagine a situation where she'd be able to speak freely with her mother and get comforted.

"Okay ma!" Isere replied. As soon as her mother let, she squealed and twirled around in her room.

Some seconds later, she heard her phone beep.

A smile crept unto her face when she a particular message she's been anticipating for.

❤️💝💗: You are online by this time and I'm shocked!

Isere: 🤷

❤️💝💗: Are your parents out because the time is past two in the afternoon and I'm freaking out for you.

Isere: my parents are at home, well and fine.

❤️💝💗: You've got to be kidding me! Are you daring them or you are in the toilet taking this risk 😂

Isere couldn't help but laugh when she saw the message.

Isere: 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I am not in the toilet and my parents know about my phone, so dhur!

❤️💝💗: What?! They know? Is there something you aren't telling me yet?

Isere: yes and a lot. Can I call you please?

❤️💝💗: Sure and I'm shocked you are being so polite.

Isere: what do you take me for?🙄

Isere waited for some seconds waiting for Kelvin's reply but he never did, so she decided to call him.

"Why didn't you reply?" Was her first question as soon as he picked the call.

Kelvin chuckled lightly. " Calm down wildcat, I knew you'd bite so I decided to wait for you call.

Isere scoffed.

"And you are raising your voice knowing well your parents are around and it's risky for you" Kelvin spoke.

Isere chuckled, "You know nothing yet and I have so much to tell you but first..." Isere trailed off.

"I missed you," she whispered.

"I missed you too and guess what?" Kelvin spoke.

"What is it?" Isere asked, she didn't want to guess as she knew she wasn't going to get it.

"I arrived in Lagos just this morning," Kelvin said.

"I'm glad, send me your address, I want to see you." Isere spoke in an haste.

Kelvin was taken aback as the last time they spoke, she said she would the able to see him and here she was asking for an address.

"Are you for real?" Kelvin asked.

"Yes," Isere replied.

"Are you sure you are with your parents because your bold move is baffling me," Kelvin spoke and Isere chuckled.

"I will tell you everything but just keep it in mind that I am good and everything is fine. But I have an issue and that's money, you would have to book an Uber for me to get to you," Isere lamented.

"That's not a problem, when are you coming?" Kelvin asked.

"When do you want me to come?" Isere asked.

"How about tonight, I missed you, your body and gosh, you don't know how hard it is for me already," His words sent shivers down Isere's spine making her wet suddenly.

"How about tomorrow, I would text you the time after i tell my parent," Isere replied.

"I can't wait for the news you have for me and I love you."
