Chapter 23 He was Seen

“If it wasn’t for you, I would have been in pain for a few more months. Would you like a reward? This is the perfect time for it.”

Liu Longting currently had a fever. Not only was his whole body hot, but the breath that brushed my throat as he spoke was scorching hot.

I had wanted to push him away, but this was the first time Liu Longting had ever said he wanted to reward me. I thought about how rich his family was and figured he was definitely rich as well. So I arched my eyebrows, acted like I wanted to get closer to him, and said, “You’re having a fever. How are you going to reward me?”

“It is precisely because I'm having a fever that I can grant you this reward. This chance is hard to come by. Do you want it or not?” Liu Longting said in an alluring voice.

“What treasure can only be given when you’re having a fever?” I asked curiously as I leaned into him.

Liu Longting lowered his head and smiled at me. He brushed against my ear, nibbled on it, and said some very embarrassing things.

I don’t know if it’s because of the hot air coming from him, or the words he said, but my face turned bright red. I told him not to egg me on. If his body kept on absorbing my human energy, it would disrupt his cultivation. His second sister would definitely not let me off!

However, Liu Longting did not even listen to what I had to say and pulled me towards his muscular shoulders and said, “You say you don't want it now, but after tonight, you won’t be able to forget me.” Saying that, he threw me onto the sofa.

The old man invited us to a cafe in front of the hotel to discuss things. It seemed like he had a bit of a western flair.

I took a shower and put on some makeup. Then I went to see the old man with Liu Longting.

The old man had picked a seat next to the window. I followed Liu Longting and sat down opposite him. He said he had something to pass to us yesterday, but I could not see anything with him.

I asked for two cups of coffee, and he smiled at me. He looked very warm and friendly; the exact opposite of his sage.

This sage was not some retarded toddler. How could he just be handed over like that? I could not even see Old Bai’s true form. How could this old man just hand over such an old sage to me in peace?

For a moment, I was speechless. The old man probably guessed my worries and said, “Young lady don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Old Bai is actually not that hard to handle. Everything about him is great, save for the fact that he has a bit of a temper. Don’t worry about not being able to handle him. You have great potential and just lack experience. I actually did not want any soldiers or power when I became a shaman. The only thing that was on my mind was stopping Liu Longting from killing me. Furthermore, I did not like that Old Bai all that much, and I did not want to be nagged by him every time I wanted to talk to him.

The moment he spoke, I decided not to think about it and let him make all the decisions. After all, if Fairy Bai ends up being our soldier, then the one dealing with him in the future would be Liu Longting and not me.

“This…” The old man started to have some doubts. “Old Bai’s already cultivated for over a thousand years. Being a soldier might be a little beneath him.”

How could this hot-tempered sage who loved to nag at other sages for not properly cultivating have attachments in the mortal realm?

“Liu Longting, are you saying if we manage to help Fairy Bai achieve his wishes, he would be able to ascend?” I asked Liu Longting.

Liu Longting shook his head and got up to leave. “His wish could just be to remain in the mortal realm with the old man, reliving the past together. One must let go of all feelings and attachments on the path of cultivation. It could just be that he does not want to forget those feelings, and so…”

Before Liu Longting could finish speaking, a few fashionable university girls walked into the cafe. They kept looking at Liu Longting with starstruck expressions.

They could see Liu Longting? Could sages not control who could see them? Liu Longting was curious as well. A waiter passed by us at that time. I pulled the waiter over and asked, “Can you see the man next to me?”
