24. Destiny's Birthday

Six months went by faster than Destiny ever remembered as she and Tim talked non-stop since they found out. They sneaked into the tunnels to see each other but even as impulsive as they both were, they were always mindful of Killian's rule. Timothy had no choice, Killian was Alpha King, but Killian was Destiny's father and she chose to follow his rule. She figured if she broke his one request and something so life-changing, what kind of Luna would that make her. She focused more on what her mother said and did and followed her to every meeting. On small things, Crystal even let her make the decision and put an input in. 

Today was different. Today there was a meeting of the packs. All Alphas and Lunas would be present and those old enough to attend the meetings that would be alpha or luna next. She knew Alex would go but when Crystal told Destiny she would also go, she was shocked.

"Mom, this a major meeting."

"One that involves you. You will be there."

"Yes, ma'am."

She walked down the stairs and saw Killian and Alex waiting. Alex nodded to his sister and they all walked to the car. Once in the car, Alex talked to her.

"Are you ready?"

"I'm nervous."

"It's nerve-racking for sure but you'll do great."

"Thanks, Alex."

"Plus, Tim will be there."

"Because he is future alpha."

"Yes. You'll meet all the future alphas. We are required to sit together and then at the end, discuss things to make sure we work as allies."

"Are there other future lunas there?"

"A couple."

"Do you know what the meeting is?"

"No."

They arrived at the meeting house an hour later and walked in. Destiny saw that as soon as they did everyone in the room bowed in honor to the King and Queen. They walked around and sat at the head of the table and Alex and Destiny sat behind them. She looked over and saw Tim and smiled. She saw all the other future alphas and the few future lunas. As the meeting progressed, Alex nudged her to pay attention. She heard her father speak.

"What is being done about the Black Heart threat?"

"So far, Alpha, we have tried getting in contact with them to discuss what has been said but so far no response."

"As their closest neighbors, we have guards watching their every move. So far, we have seen an increase in training and keeping a close eye on them."

"Thank you, Max. Red Comet Pack had proved to be a helpful ally through this."

"It's our pleasure, Alpha."

"The threat of interrupting Destiny's birthday and announcing her news?"

"Monica has agreed to be by her side the entire time in case they try and mess with Destiny. Guards have been placed around the border for extra security."

"Alex, what would you suggest?"

"What about sending an envoy to Black Heart?"

"And saying what? What would you do?"

"I would see what the underlying problem is and try and find a solution and negotiate something to keep the peace."

"The underlying problem is that they are still upset about the end of Silver Thunder. Thye were their allies. They want revenge."

"Then we remind them it's just them and they would be dealing with all of us. Unless they want their pack to come to end as well, they best rethink everything."

"That's true, but we don't answer a threat with a threat."

They continued to talk and work something out when Destiny spoke up.

"What about inviting them. What if we invite their whole pack and renegotiate with them about being our ally. They have no one left and could use the ally. Surely they will be able to see that."

"That could work, but are sure you want to for your birthday?"

"Absolutely. What better way to show we are willing to let the past go and move forward then inviting them to a birthday. The Alpha King's daughter's birthday."

Killian thought on it for a moment and nodded his head and looked to Crystal. 

"It could work. Extra protection would need to be put in place for the children. Constant security around Black Heart."

"We will send an envoy to Black Heart with the invitation. Good work, Destiny."

"Children, you all may be dismissed into the next room. Have fun."

"Thank you, Luna."

All of them got up and once in the next room, they talked to Destiny about her decision. 

"Des, are you sure about her decision? They could ruin it."

"I had my shift and found my mate six months ago. We celebrated secretly without all of our parents knowing, remember? I celebrated with my friends already."

"Sea Cave will be lucky to have you as their Luna, Des."

"Thanks, Erica. Amythest is lucky to have you too."

The adults talked more about who to send and ensure their safety. They finally agreed on Bryan to go and deliver the message. Monica was uncomfortable with it knowing he could be killed but she was confident in her mate. 

Two days after the meeting Brayn was getting ready to go when Danny walked in and asked to go. Monica said it would be okay and Crystal agreed and even got Killian to approve. Bryan and Danny crossed into Black Heart Pack and went straight to Alpha Brutus. His Luna and their three children, Francis, Peter, and Cassandra, were present. Francis was the future alpha but Cassandra was the eldest at seventeen. The minute she saw Danny, her senses were alive and Danny felt the tug. He was almost sixteen and felt the buzz of the mate bond. Brutus noticed and it angered him. 

"Why has the Alpha ing sent someone to me?"

"An invite to his daughter's birthday."

"Seriously?"

"It was her choice. A chance to find peace again."

"Destiny herself suggested this?"

"Yes. It was her idea to invite you and see what came of it."

"We would be honored to come. The alpha and I need to talk things over but we will be there, peacefully."

"Thank you, Luna. My son and I will take our leave."

"Your son? What is his name?"

"Daniel, Luna."

"This is my daughter, Cassandra. I hope at this birthday, you two might be better acquainted."

"I hope so, too, Luna."

Bryan and Danny left and headed back home. Bryan asked him about Cassandra and he confirmed he felt the mate bond and hoped to see her again. 

Once back home, Brayn confirmed that Black Heart would be there. They all hoped for peace and wanted it t go smoothly. 

Two weeks later, the party was underway and Destiny and Timothy were sitting with the other alpha's kids. Everyone knew when the Black Hearts arrived and most everyone went still. Destiny and Alex walked up to them, shoulders back, and chin held high.

"Alpha Brutus, thank you so much for attending my birthday celebration."

"It's our pleasure."

Brutus and his Luna walked to the packhouse while everyone else mingled in the crowd. Cassandra found Danny and they began to talk. Everyone was informed of the bond there and thought it interesting. 

Brutus and Killian spent hours in his office negotiating. Crystal and Barbara sat and talked and found out the lunas wanted this peace.

"I think it would beneficial to the children and for the future of our packs to be allies instead of enemies."

"I agree."

After three hours of waiting, Brutus and Killian finally came out shaking hands and they all walked outside and announced the new ally. Destiny felt proud that it worked because it was her suggestion. Everyone now celebrated a few things and Destiny was honored and Tim was proud to call her his Luna. Things were now taking a brighter turn towards the future.
