CHAPTER 3

“I want this new brand and price trending everywhere and on all social media.”

“Got it,” Jett replied, before hanging up the call.

“The moment the news about Ms Erica Johnson performing for the city’s jubilee was released, the announcement went viral. Why do you think so, Emelia?”

The newscaster asked, turning to her fellow newscaster to brief the public on the situation.

“Thank you so much, Julia. I believe this is so because, everyone has been looking forward to who the singer for this year’s ceremony is going to be and not until now, Blue Sky’s entertainment industry has been silent on the news. So I can imagine the shock and joy from its citizens when Cloud City’s leading female singer was picked to grace the occasion with her voice.”

“True to what you have said. The news is now the most trending topic online, even pushing Dream Star Corporation sales behind bars. I cannot blame them, this is a well-anticipated event. II wonder what come back our famous leading business group would come up with. That been said…”

As the news went on, Ian gritted his teeth. His company had worked well and came up with such a perfect advert to promote sales and their product.

Yet it took them days to get the public’s attention and just when they were to reap the fruit of their labour, Blue Sky Entertainment Industry ruined it with their own announcement.

He tuned in to another station to hopefully hear something else, but every other station he checked had the same topic. No one wanted to miss this opportunity to feature such huge news.

“Urghh!” he groaned out and dropped the remote control in his hand, but not before switching off the television.

“I can’t believe this is happening. I need a bath to calm down right now.”

Without wasting time, he closed his laptop and set it aside, got up and left the room.

By the second week, Erica was already on a private plane with her manager and personal assistant, heading straight for Blue Sky City.

In no time, their plane arrived at the airport and they highlighted with her luggage being carried for them.

About thirty minutes later, the car they entered arrived at one of the top expensive hotel’s in the city, owned by the biggest and richest business group, the Dream Star Corporation.

Immediately they arrived, they were shown to their rooms at the fourth floor, where their exclusive and private suite was situated and given their key cards.

Erica slouched and fell on the bed, dropping the key card in her hands as well. “Oh, God! How did I get here again?”

In as much as she rejected Daphne’s words, she still ended up in the last city she wanted to be. It was Jane who kept pressuring her about the issue since her fans were going on a rampage when she revealed the news that she wasn’t going.

The comments and protest became unbearable, that she finally agreed to it, just to pacify them. After all, they were her world, now.

Well, that and a promise she held on to. Even though she didn’t want to visit this city again, there was only one thing that made her want to also consider apart from her fans and that was the promise she held on to.

“No matter where you are, or how far, I would find you and wait for you.”

The words played in her mind over and over again, repeating its chant in her head.

Slowly, her right hand moved up and draped over her face as she let out a sigh. “I wonder what happened?” she muttered under her breath before finally sitting up.

Minutes later, Erica found herself taking the elevator going downstairs. Initially, she had intended on relaxing but her mind was hazy…with just too many thinking.

Her mind kept going back to scenes she didn’t want to remember. Times she wished were locked away forever and wouldn’t stop to give her poor mind a rest.

Ding!

The elevator opened after its sound and she walked out majestically wearing a white tightly fitted short skirt that hung just above her knees and a black off-shoulder free crop top with a small cross white bag and a pair of black heels and shade to go with.

In no time she was by the reception desk with her right hand placed casually on the counter as she spoke to the receptionist.

“Yes, please and a cool refreshing fruit juice to go with.” Before she went out, she decided to place her order for her evening meal, just in case when she returned she wouldn’t be feeling it and would end up not taking dinner.

“Yes ma’am. Noted,” the receptionist replied politely.

“Good.”

All of a sudden, she felt a very strong presence behind her. The person had a bone-chilling overbearing aura that made the hairs on her neck stand on edge at the feel.

She instinctively wanted to turn around and see who it was but kicked against it as she froze in place, not saying or doing anything.

It was not until the receptionist’s voice made home to their ear, startling her from her reverie that she broke from her unfrozen state.

She blinked thrice before speaking.”Huh? Sorry, did you say something?” Erica asked, her mind still trying to process what had just happened to her, especially with the kind of stare the receptionist now gave her, like she was not alright or something.

“My apologies for the delay, Mr Davis.” Her gaze moved past Erica and landed on the breathtakingly, gorgeous being behind Erica, then she returned her gaze back to Erica. “Ma’am, would you like to place another order, please? The young girl asked.

“No, sorry. Carry on.” Her hand moved up and down as she flashed the receptionist one of her trademark apologetic mile.

Just as she made to turn around and then move away, her face slammed into something hard and well chiselled.

“Ouch!”
