CHAPTER 2

"I won't go."

Daphne's eyes opened wide at her statement, she never expected that answer from her. She actually thought she would be thrilled at the news.

Jane who was drinking a soda choked on her drink upon hearing her boss's response.

Cough! Cough!

"Erica!"

"What do you mean by that?" Daphne asked, her smiling face now dropping into a frown as her eyes raked up and down the girl in front of her like it was the first time she was seeing her.

"Everything it is supposed to mean. I am not going. I told you before not to push through with this. Did you take me for a child's play that you still went behind my back to do this?" Erica asked, getting angry from her own words.

"I did what I thought was best for you."

"No, you did what you think was best for yourself. Did you ever once stop to think about me? What would Erica feel about this? No, you didn't, all you think about is fame and money."

"Isn't that what music and your career are all about, the fame?" Daphne asked.

Erica did not reply and fell silent. She was not about to start exchanging words with her. "Answer me, Erica, isn't it what this is all about?"Daphne asked her again, her voice rising at the end.

"No, it isn't. Music is a whole lot more. Much more than you could ever imagine. It means the world to me. Call it off, tell them I am not going Makeup whatever story you have to, after all, you are good at those."

Erica crossed her hands in front of her chest and turned her head away. That was it, she was done with this conversation. Or so she thought.

"Erica, I thought you said your fans meant the world to you?" It was Jane who spoke next, whereas Daphne, just stared at her with narrowed eyes.

She didn't know what had suddenly come over Erica. Although they did have disagreements from time to time, never had she reacted this way. She was so pissed and Daphne could see this.

She did something she shouldn't have done, but it was too late now because the next words that fell out of Jane's mouth proved it.

"If they mean the world to you, then you should reconsider your words. Apparently, Blue Sky entertainment industry already released an announcement on their Twitter account, informing its citizens on your performance for the anniversary.”

“What!” It was now Erica’s turn to feel so shocked by the news. She had least expected for Blue Sky Entertainment Industry to be fast in revealing the news to the people.

“Yes, and the news has gone viral. Your fans are going crazy about the news and congratulating you. A lot of them are already asking if you would really go. Most of them are praying for you to go on your Instagram account as they all want to see their idol being reverenced in another city.”

Erica face palmed herself at the news and then shot a deathly glare at her manager. Today just wasn’t a good day for her. She really wished she could change things right now.

Daphne looked at her apologetically, but she knew she wasn’t sorry one bit about this. In fact, it was the complete opposite, she as thrilled by the turn of events.

In a well-furnished designed mansion, a young man is seen sitting down in a fairly large room, with a big table and two offices chairs. To the side was a long cushion opposite the only flat screen television in the room.

Kpar! Kpar!!

He typed away on the laptop on his lap, his eyes squinted as he took in what he just read.

In front of him were a glass of red wine and a slice of strawberry cake on the table in front of him, with his two phones by his side.

The way his short black hair fell all the way back, gave him the gentlemanly look he most girls would crave for.

His nicely trimmed eyebrows, blue coloured orbs, straight nose and pink thinned lips. He was wearing a half-buttoned long-sleeved cream shirt, folded to the elbow at each side and felt flying with a pair of khaki trousers to go with.

Just staring at him this way could make several women go nuts. He was an epitome of beauty for a man.

Ring! Ring!

The light to one of his phone screen lit up, pulling his attention from what he was doing. He stopped typing and picked up the phone to answer the caller.

“Hello,” he answered in a low tone, his eyes now returning back to what he was doing before.

“Jett, what is the matter? Is this about the announcement of the sales on the company’s page?”

“Yes and no, sir.”

“Then what is it?” Ian asked, his voice filled with his impatience at the stalling his personal assistant was doing

“The sales announcement did get the needed comments and response we had hoped for, but right now, that is not the trending topic. Virtually everywhere online is talking about the news, the musician coming to perform for the celebration.”

“Hmm, I see,” he replied Jett with his usual calm voice, making the latter think he didn’t quite hear him.

 “It is currently on the news now. The moment Blue Sky Entertainment Industry released the announcement, it was as though everyone went into an uproar about it. It trends now above ours.                                        

“Who is she?” Ian asked, picking up the remote control and switching on the television.

The moment he did, he was greeted with the announcement on the news.

“Erica Johnson, the star of Cloud city,” Jett informed him.

“Yes, I just saw it. It is okay, continue everything as planned. Let the marketing team come up with a brand new advertisement. I want this new brand and price trending everywhere and on all social media.”

“Got it.”
