Zara's POV

Crunch!

Crunch!

My wedding is in three weeks and we are here shopping for my wedding dress. Nobody bothered to tell me that my wedding will in three weeks until this morning.

Imagine my horror when my mum woke me up this morning and told me that we are going shopping for my sari.

My frigging sari.

My wedding is in three weeks.

I only have three weeks to prepare for my wedding.

Who does that?

I have always wanted to be the one to sew my wedding dress but I never thought I wouldn't even have enough time to prepare.

I have to make sketches first and then I have to get a good fabrics and...there are like a lot of things to do and three weeks won't be enough.

Three weeks isn't enough time to prepare for my wedding.

And that is why I am stress eating. I have consumed a total of three bags of caramel popcorn and I am currently eating my fourth bag.

My mum and Lucy are busy talking to the stylist and checking out different designs and I have been sitting here like the useless bride that I am eating popcorn.

Crunch! Crunch!

"You need to stop eating and pick a design." Lucy says, snatching the bag of popcorn from me.

Not to worry I think I have a candy somewhere in my bag.

I grab my bag and pull out a candy, I unwrap the candy and put it in my mouth.

"Really Zara?" Lucy asks and I nod.

"I am just stressing, okay? I have just three weeks to prepare for my wedding. Who does that?" I start lamenting.

"I know but stress eating won't solve anything." She says, eyeing my candy.

I shrug "This is all your fault Ma." I murmur, moving the candy around with my tongue.

"How is it my fault that you are stressing eating?" She asks.

Oops! She heard me.

"Not that ma. You could have at least tried to postpone the wedding or something." I explain.

"I tried Zara but it seems his grandma is hell-bent on getting Jason married early." She says, her face etched with worry? Puzzlement?

Oh yeah, his grandma.

I am pretty sure he mentioned her once.

"You really need to contribute though. It is your wedding so it is only right that you pick your dress. I mean, I would want to pick my dress myself if it were my wedding..."

Here we go again...

Lucy can be very... persuasive? She can go through any length to get what she wants.

Not that it is a bad thing but she results to guilt tripping people to get what she wants.

I have seen her doing the guilt tripping thing on her dad.

We went clubbing that night and we stayed out longer than we were meant to-- it was not my fault that Lucy decided to get shit faced. She was so drunk she couldn't walk straight. We had to call Ken-- Lucy's parent chauffeur-- to pick us up and he was kind enough to come and pick us up.

We forgot to tell him not to mention anything about it to Lucy's father though and Ken being the extremely loyal chauffeur that he is, he told Uncle Javier about how he came to pick us up at the club three a:m in the morning.

Let us just say that it didn't end well for us that morning. Uncle Javier went on and on about how we young girls were not meant to be found outside at that time. He lectured us about how dangerous the outside is for young girls and all those shit...

Not that he wasn't making any sense, it is just that I have heard that talk a thousand times before and listening to him going on and on about how we shouldn't be found outside at that time wasn't really...pleasing?

Okay picture this, I had the worst hangover ever and he was screaming down our ears about how.... You know what he was saying. I wasn't even as drunk as Lucy and yet I felt like my head was about to split into two.

Definitely not a good time to listen to his lectures.

Anyways, Lucy bursted out crying and she knows just how much her dad hates seeing she or her younger sister in tears.

Imagine my surprise when she started crying and apologizing profusely that she didn't mean to stay out late and she went on about how she knew her dad was still going to punish her but she is still sorry anyway.

Her dad apologized for making her, Lucy, cry.

Why would he do that?

One minute he was scolding us and the next he was the one apologizing.

I would have laughed at how ridiculous the scene was but my head wouldn't let me.

I mean how can her dad not see through her?

He asked Cookie to get us something to eat and use for our headaches.

To cut the long story short, Lucy escaped punishment that morning and we ended up joking about how she used her tears against her dad and avoided punishment.

"I know Lucy but everything just seems so surreal right now and I feel so stressed." I complain.

She scoffs before turning to face me properly.

"Come on Lucy, you only get to do this whole wedding thing once and that only means you only have this one chance to do all those things brides do... You should stress about dress, the right cake flavour and every other thing that comes with planing a wedding." She says squeezing my hands.

She is right you know.

Keep quiet silly!

"How do you know this might be my first and last time? We could end up getting a divorce...I mean we don't even know each other that well and..."

"Zara" My mum literally screams at me.

Lucy makes a noise that sounded like a strangled cat.

She is laughing at me.

I shrug "What ma? I am just telling the truth, we never can tell..."

"Stop thinking negatively Zara. You are getting married and you shouldn't be saying things like that." She reprimands me.

"Sorry ma but I was just saying." I apologize.

"Enough of that. Come here and help with this dress stuff, we can't pick your dress without you." She says, there is this finality in her voice.

And I know not to argue with her.

"Okay ma." I grumble.

"We are going to get Jason's kaftan too after this. We have to make sure it matches with your dress and..."

I tune her out at that.

Bride duties, Yay!!
