CHAPTER THREE:

In her first math class, which was taken by the school professor in that department, Flora participated in class interaction. Towards the end of the class, she corrected the professor of a very minor but vital element in the ongoing calculation which made everyone take notice of her.

Immediately the class ended, Flora could hear someone call her name from the back of the hall. Turning, she found the person to be Chidi. With amazement Flora ran to him.

 They greeted each other.

“So we ended up being course mates after all.” Flora said as they both walked together down the stairs getting to the door.

Flora apologized that she had to put an end to the fine conversation because she had to quickly run to someone so that they can go together, for the scholarship class. Chidi smiled and asked for her mobile number. He also asked if she was with transport fare and obviously Flora was not with a transport fare.

“Well I think you would need this, you know you don't have to trust people, because my senior brother told me the night we were on our way down here and was caught up by a traffic jam, young lady walked up to him and told him she was not with transport that her sister she was supposed to pick her up and leave together.  You have to take this in case of any unforeseen situation but well the situation was kind of good for my brother."

"He has been crazily in love ever since he met that girl.” said chidi handing over a naira note to her.

“Thank you for this! And about that girl, I just hope he finds her.” she said smilingly collecting the money from his hand.

With waves of goodbyes they parted ways.

After the school scholarship class on her way home Flora saw her math professor, Professor Miles.

She was led to follow him secretly until he had stopped at a hall. The professor turned over to his back knowing Flora was following him. He flashed to Flora's face, held her neck and started strangulating her.

Flora tried to remove his hands but it appeared to be somehow glued to her neck. She raised her hands and lights of different colors were displayed out. The professor saw this and quickly held her head for the test, next Flora saw herself in another room.

In the room she saw her mother lying dead, blood was all over the place, and there were wounds on her mother's stomach. Next she saw someone coming to her, Flora started shouting at the top of her voice, “who are you and what do you want from me?”. Coming towards the light-bearing section of the room, Flora saw the person's face.

It was mother Teresa.

At first Flora felt betrayed, later she realized that even in what she's seeing she still loves her mother Teresa, and believes she's more than what she's seeing her to be.

She stood up, smiled and hugged her mother Teresa speaking faintly, “in all I still love you”. Immediately she said that, she opened her eyes, and found herself in the hospital

I woke up to meet myself on a hospital bed and a busy lady who I thought to be a nurse making use of a pen. The ranking question in my head was 'what happened??".

"Don't be scared young girl. The doc would be here soon. It appears you fainted." said the busy nurse.

"How did I get here? The last thing I can remember was..." I said trying to make my head catch up with my mouth.

"A security office can in a while back with you in his arms. He claimed to have seen you lying unconsciously on the bare floor. Rather kind of him to bring you here, don't you think?" added the nurse with a smile.

"Yeah! Nice!" I said trying to play along with the hope that she would leave soon.

Few minutes later the nurse left, I sat waiting for the person the nurse said was going to show up as my doctor. I felt bored so I got up, cunningly went through the hospital corridor to a door towards a place where I could see  a pregnancy operation being carried out.

Flora watched the doctor bring in the baby out from the mother's womb. This time it was no longer a trance. Flora started having memories from what she was currently seeing.

Watching this, someone touched her at her back.

She turned and saw Teresa, mother Teresa is a doctor, her doctor.

Actually mother Teresa was someone Flora kept seeing in her dreams, an imaginary someone who she thought of comforting her whenever she felt sad and lonely. The doctor asked her to go back to her room and that she would be coming to check her up. Flora with amazement walked slowly dragging her feet back to her room.

Where she saw Bloom, her twin and Frank, her president in the campus fellowship. Bloom was with a plastic bag and in it were food for Flora; home-made Okro soup with a hand-sized swallow, Flora's favorite dish. She has heard of Flora's admission into the hospital because of a heresay she termed to be true off hey sister's faint health.

With hands washed, Flora ate to get fill and waited till her doctor come in. As the doctor was checking on her, Flora felt like she was in heaven already. She wished what she feeling  would continue forever. The doctor wasn't doing anything special but to her she was. She could feel it.

“Am I a psycho? Why do I keep having these memories? Where are they from? Why do I have these strange feelings towards miss Teresa? Am I a homosexual??????????” she asked herself in confusion.

Flora left the hospital after her health was confirmed to be in good shape.

Heading home a man called her name and with curiosity she turned. It was an elderly man. Someone she had never met before.

Flora asked inquisitively, “how do you know my name?”

The man gave Flora a scrupulous smile and said, “the heavens, the earth and the waters all know your name, Flora. I know you have many questions and I have the answers to your questions. if you need answers meet me at  arena tomorrow by 4am. I will be waiting.” "ALONE!"stressed the man walking away.

Flora being skeptical asked “and who are you?”

“Well the only thing you would have to know is that I'm a civil servant and I work in this school.” After saying this he left.

The next day, Flora attended her morning till afternoon class. The lesson taught was kind of confusing so she needed to get the textbook of the course in question.

She had to follow Chidi to his hostel and as they were heading out, Chidi’s elder brother Charles, stole a glimpse of Flora's face, but before he could take action, they had already left.

Flora cleared get schedule so as to meet with the man she had came across. She met with the weird man at arena, and then he started narrating, “first of all let me officially introduce myself to you I am Barriagara, you can call me Barry.”

“I was a student of Port Harcourt.”

“I made a friend, a very good friend but because he was smart, a professor put him to test to see if he was the third eye, just like what Professor Miles did to you, normally like the rest of the tested students, you're supposed to have died to fail their test of being the third eye so beware, very soon they will be coming for you and definitely professor Miles will be promoted."

Flora slowly brought out her hospital card and was starring at it as he continued.

“The doctor, you love her right? Actually it's your destiny to do so. She's your way, just like I was my friends way, and that is why they use that means as their test. Well it's important to know that she would be married to the person that loves you most.”

Now going down to understanding the system, actually there is this hierarchy.

Meanwhile when Chidi got home his brother began questioning him, about Flora. Telling him that Flora was his dream lady, that she was the girl he was talking about. Charles was quiet all through his brother’s confession of his love for Flora. He was confused because, Flora was in the bus when the event his brother was talking of happened.
