Confession

“Who has she been seeing?” king Alfred gushed as he looked down at his wife with furrowed brows.

“ N-no one your highness.” her face was plastered to the floor with both hands crossed in front of tighs.

“ You have the guts to lie in my face Marla? I'll ask you one more time. Who did this to her?” he hurled.

With shaky hands and teary eyes, she let go the little information she had been keeping all along concerning her daughter,though it wouldn't help the catastrophic damage.

“ Tony he is called.” she lifted her head and tried reaching her husband's arm for a little strength and comfort though she already knew how he would react to it. As right as she was he simply took a step back.

“ believe me your highness, I wasn't aware of anything until four weeks ago. I begged her but she wouldn't listen, I tried—”

“ You didn't try hard enough woman.” his voice was so loud that it echoed through the empty corridor. “ Are you aware of what is going to happen to valérex because of your negligence? Now, dismiss woman, dismiss.”

Her face was buried in her hands as she exited. The walked to his throne where he rubbed his head with his index and middle finger.

“ Get the lad!” he ordered to the guards who stood on either side of six meters tall  arch shaped golden door. They nooded and headed out.

“ Where's my mum?” her voice was hoarse as she struggled to get her blurry eyes get acquainted to the environment.

“ Oh, you are awake. Your majesty left a couple of minutes ago and I'm under strict instructions to watch over you.” Anna said.

Lucy tried to get off her sheets only to be stopped by Anna. “ my prin-”

“ Anna, if you love and respect me as the princess and friend I am to you, you'll get me out of here. He's in danger.”

“ Are you aware of the calamity you've brought up to this land?”

“ N-no my lord.” Tony was now kneeling infron of the king, not daring to make eye contacts.

“ My daughter bears your offspring.”

His eyes opened in shock.

“ Surprised? People like you shouldn't live longer than you already are.”

“ EXECUTE HIM!!!!! ”

Audrina's POV.

I do not understand what has been happening to me lately. Today I feel like I know a whole lot of things and the next day I feel like an empty vessel.

I was standing in front of my locker patiently waiting for Jess after spending a couple of hours at the gate, something very very unusual. On normal occasions we update each other on whatever we do after five minutes but today wasn't the case. I bombarded her several texts and even called not only to get updates but to make sure she was ok. My brain still being perfect, I remember she told me about Alex being a vampire and then nothing. That's the problem. I wonder why I didn't do anything after she told me that. The next thing I remember is joining my parents for dinner worried about her well being.

My calls fell on answering machine. On my ride to school, I begged my mum to stop by her place so I could check on her but as my mum is:

You gonna be late for school darling and I'm not letting you go anywhere without Eli after what happened yesterday.

That's exactly the problem, each time I asked her what happened, she'll just brush it off and refuse to let me bring it up again but right now, you guys are my witness, she brought it up all by herself. But there's something strange she did this morning. She walked up to my room just to ask me if I could remember anything which happened when I left home, honestly, I don't remember leaving home.

Now I was totally worried, I didn't know whether to make a u turn to go check on my bff or walk alone to class and attend her funeral after the teacher announces her death in class. Before pivoting, I spotted the brunette in the crowd and without a second thought I let my books fall to the floor to freely run to her.

“ Oughch! You gonna crush my bones.” she grimaced.

“ I'm sorry, so sorry about yesterday, I don't know what happened to me. I was so worried especially after you told me Alex is a vampire, I was confused and damn worried. What did he do to you, hope nothing bad, hope you....”

“ Woah! woah! woah! Take in some damn air Aud. Look I'm fine, like perfectly fine ok, no worries. Besides Alex isn't a vampire, just the machine playing tricks on me again. ”

I couldn't and didn't believe her. She really sounded different yesterday like she was under pressure. Something scared her, I could tell from her voice. Pfff! But if she says she's fine then I'll try to go with it. What matters is she's alive.

“ Nice Shawl. ” 

Couldn't help but notice it tied around her neck. Not the Jess type of thing but that didn't matter so much.

I was about to begin questioning unfortunately for me, the bell decided it was its right time to interrupt.

“ Hey Jess wait. ”

Was I dreaming or Jess was leaving the class without me. She turned and her eyes met mine. “ What are you upto tonight?” I asked when I finally caught up with her.

“ euhmm....gotta do my assignments.”

“ Cool, we could do it together then.”

“ Euh no- nope we can't, actually I-I gotta see my grandma after that. See you.” she left. Truly speaking she didn't make sense at all.

“ You monster, what did you do to my best friend? ” I asked the blonde haired beauty standing adjacent to me. He turned with a signature smirk. I didn't like the way I was getting to know where was always at.

“ Glad to see you charmante. I must confess I'm glad to set eyes on your pretty face as often as I expected.” his voice had a formal tone with his head high up like he was some royal's son or something.

“ You find pleasure in never ansawering my questions don't you”

He sighed. “ Listen, I'm a harmless vampire. Won't hide it from you like your boyfriend does nor deny it.” he closed the space between us, his face inches away from mine. “ Believe me, I won't harm anything related to you because I love you.”

My eyes widened at his confessions. I felt numb all over me, I was speechless and weak, defenseless. Jess lied to me. Alex is vampire. His fingers lifted my chin to his mouth level. god! What did he want to do? If at all its what I think it is how will I react to it? I know I want this, somehow, not because I'm trying to fill in Scotts gap with his but because I'm stupidly liking this guy, who happens to be a vampire. A bloodsucker. This is insane.

“ Back off!” the voice came from behind me.“ or I'll decapitate you.”

He lifted his hands in surrender while slowly making steps away from us before that, he mouthed to me: he won't make it tonight.

“ Babe, you ok? ” He held me by both shoulders.

“ Y-yes I'm fine.”

If Alex was actually telling the truth, what could Scott possibly hide from me? Is he vampire too? Not quite sure, else the vampire machine would have detected him long ago. “ Who are you.” I asked looking completely absent minded.

“ Excuse me?”

I gasped in realization. “ I'm sorry, didn't mean to ask that. What I meant is ask if you could come over ,you know, just us, watching a movie or something since my parents won't be home.” 

And since Jess can't make it.

“ Oh babe,I really wish I could but you see, I'll be busy at the store tonight.”

This is what Alex meant by he won't make it tonight. How did he know? What if there's another reason behind him not coming which just he and Alex knew. “ Don't be sad, I'll make up to you big time. I promise.”

Faking a smile “ it's OK.”

Subsequently I get to spend Friday night alone.

Scott's POV.

“ It's now or never.” Theresa Hudson warned me as we all stood in the woods of Montenegro far from the tiny city. Yeah I knew that. If I wanted to be successful in this mission I had to change my fur to that of the others. 

The moon was already full and there was a pack of wolves in the woods the Alpha inclusive. 

“ You have till the first week of the next season to have her heart and body before the oak tree and before the vampires." The Alpha said. “Like I earlier said, affections are enemies they take a big part of our hearts and prevent us from acting as earlier planned, she's our only source of survival as well as having the upper hand in both Valero and Rexo.”

This was my only chance to be named among the betas. But before that, I must get past the ritual. I was surrounded by others with just the Alpha and I at the center. My eyes slowly changed to gold as I looked up at the full moon, followed the development of my claws then my brown fur. I let out my first howl at full transformation which the others joined later. 

“ Flesh coming our way.” Theresa alarmed.

This is, the taste of human flesh was all I needed to complete my metamorphosis and I couldn't wait any longer. 

I studied my prey from behind the tree I was. A tall and well built man in his mid forties. He was probably lost or came for wolf hunting, two factors which got humans into this woods. 

He stopped suddenly, he must have felt danger as he took out his revolver from the back of his jeans.

“ I know you are around, just show up now.”

As if I was compelled to his voice, I left my hiding place to immediately pounce on him, getting his revolver off his hand not giving him space for whatsoever. My front limbs pinned on either side of his face. 

I lifted my face to the moon to howl a sign of victory which made other wolves leave their hiding places. 

Dinner time.
